General / Re: interesting alternative to a scottoiler

Tubing from halfords £2.50
Cable ties- whatever you have already lying about
Syringe from eBay £1.50
Inject 10ml or so before going for a ride, remove the syringe and let gravity do its job!

Cheap as chips and works fine, I had a scottoiler dual injector lying about so used that, but you can put a bicycle spoke or similar in the tubing in order to get the correct angle onto the sprocket!

Only takes ten minutes or so to set the tube in the right place.

I've been dispatching 6 years now,
I got 120,000 out of my '99 MK1 fazer before I retired her and some polish guy bought it (it was ill- gearbox, clutch, problems in a downpour) I couldn't be arsed to spend money fixing her cause I already had a thundercat waiting.
Thundercat also did 120,000 miles but then this happened-

2nd thundercta was only at 55,000 when I got knocked off last year and she was written off,
Srad 750 is at 45,000 but got to sell due to no one wants to insure me,
Now back on a '03 fazer with 13,000- she should last me a couple of years hopefully but I'm not gentle on them!

Stick with the leathers and buy a set of proskins, they make leathers so much mote comfortable in hot weather and you get to keep the protection leather offers!
Also a textile jacket ( I have a joe rocket one) that has all the padding inside but is made like a teabag is just as comfortable as only wearing a tshirt but again with the protection!

Find a friend with a workshop and build your own for less than £10, but I'm lucky like that!  :D

General / Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size?
« on: 11 May 2013, 10:46:41 am »
Use a 6mm but cut a notch out the end of it, that way you don't have to completely undo the bolt from the battery, just loosen slightly and slide the terminal under.

If the connectors are too thick ( or if you have several attached to the battery) the bolt ends up being too short to grab the captive nut in the battery.

Just always remember to tighten the battery connectors as tight as you can over wise you'll end up with drainage/ charging woes!

I frickin hate insurance companies, down right loathe them
4 non fault accidents in 5 years and because of other people's wank driving not only can I not get insurance on the bike I own and love (srad 750 which I now have to sell) but my premiums have shot through the roof!

I have a friend - 12 points on license yet will very easily and cheaply get insurance on a brand new blade, I have a clean license ffs!

A law unto themselves!

General / Re: Weekly Insurance
« on: 06 May 2013, 04:15:54 pm »
Insurance is 100% required to tax a vehicle, not only that but if you want to tax online it takes more than a day for databases to update insurance details.

A cover note from the the insurance plus v5 and a visit to the post office is quickest way to do it.

I just went through all this on Saturday picking up an untaxed bike btw so I know its correct!

I was watching this too but ended up getting one that finished on Thursday, 12000 miles but double what you payed.
My mk1 did 120,000 miles so don't worry about 30....!

Returning to the video in this post-
It appears that he either scrapes his toe or footpeg part way round, he obviously has little experience of this happening so instant reaction is to pick the bike up, this puts him into the trajectory of the cyclists, unfortunately what's probably going through his head is
Shit shit shit I'm heading right for them
Shit shit shit I can't brake cause I'll end up off the road and heading straight up that steep bank
Shit shit shit I can't corner any further to avoid them cause in my mind I'm at the limit and I'll be scraping the pegs again and crash
Shit shit shit not enough time to think of other options
Fuck it lets have em all!

Lack of experience,
That's my two pence anywho!

General / Re: tyres that go together.........
« on: 04 May 2013, 09:48:35 pm »
Personally I've never had problems mixing tyres, although now I tend to only mix different model types within the same brand ie Michelin PR3 rear pilot power 2 front (although this was on T,cat and Gixxer 750)
Haven't looked into what decent tyre there is these days for the fazer 110 front.

Btw I got 16000 miles out of the rear on the Gixxer and I didn't hang about on that, cracking tyre IMO!

Although due to currently ongoing insurance claim my solicitors suggested I remove my 'good' videos, as soon as its sorted they'll be back up along with the accident!

General / Re: Why don't Police riders hang off the seat?
« on: 04 May 2013, 09:23:56 pm »
As much as its personal preference on wether to hang off or not in my experience the actual type of bike makes a difference too, before retiring the mk1 fazer I was happily grinding the pegs without hero blobs and without hanging off, I went on to a T'cat (well 2 of them) and a Gixxer 750, on those I felt a heck of a lot more comfortable dragging knee round every possible corner!

Just picked up an '03 foxeye today, 200 mile journey home and its gonna take me a few more to get my comfortable riding style down again on this one, 5 year old Conti road attack tyres aren't helping though tbh!

« on: 04 May 2013, 09:05:16 pm »
A truly confidence inspiring bike, it does have its pitfalls but what bike doesn't!
Tbh, the main reason I got another one was due to 4 non fault accidents in the past 5 years my insurance got cancelled on the Gixxer, courier insurance is still too high for me on this fazer but there's no way I'm pootling along on a cb500!

Give it a couple of years to kill this one and I'll more than likely be back on a T'cat.
My last fazer and T'cat both got to 120,000 miles btw!

Introduction / I'm back!
« on: 04 May 2013, 08:25:12 pm »
Well, after 3 years, 2 Thundercats, an SRAD 750 and a cb250rs I'm back on a Fazer!

Picked her up today, '03 600, 12000 miles for a delightful £1750!

Rode her back 200 miles and was delighted, now don't get me wrong, I was reminded just how capable the engine was but compared to the T'cat and SRAD handling wise it shows, but I expected this anyway so a little fiddling / swapping out of shocks etc will be had and will hopefully help, although the fact she was on 5 year old Conti road attacks would not have helped in the slightest!

She starts work life dispatching on Wednesday so I'll slap her into shape!

So anyway, hello all, again!
