I'm not sure I see any point to changing the meaning of the 'U', if the site is successful as-is - what's to gain?

Unofficial is also a bit edgy, a bit woosh, a bit wa-hey. If it was anything else, it might lose the 'cool' factor.

Warning: posts may contain sarcasm..

..and nuts.

edit: Although having thought about it for another 3 seconds, 'Underground' would also be a bit woosh  :evil

Unofficial is all right. Unified seems sectarian. Ultimate a tad childish.

My understanding (from a drunken conversation with T-Cat years ago) was that Yam were getting their corporate grundies in a twist over the use of Fazer and the tuning fork logo and decided to send a couple of arsey emails.

The Unofficial was added to appease them whilst also allowing us to say Foc-U to those that were taking umbrage.
Also means we can have a bit of fun with t-shirts, stickers etc whilst not being overtly offensive as it can just as easily be pronounced as the F.O.C.U.

It was a while ago mind you, so I may have confused what he actually said with what I thought he said, if so I'm blaming his accent.
:pokefun

As for changing it, must confess I'm not a fan of that thinking.

We're still not affiliated with Yamaha Europe, we don't get a mention on their website (I'll speak to Farjo and see about getting an email together about that)  and, unlike the HD Owner's group, we don't get any deals, discounts or affiliation benefits.

If there were an overwhelming clamour for us to stop being Foc-U then it would be something we'd have to discuss further, but at the minute we're just shy of 2000 members of which 20 or so have posted about it, excluding Farjo and myself.
I reckon we'd need a far greater turn out than ≈1% to even think about starting serious discussions, sorry.

Least of all, but (selfishly) important to me, it would involve myself and Farjo having to change domain registration and associated gubbins, alter the logo, change the skin settings in the Forum....
Relatively simple to do, but time consuming never the less.

I apologise if this seems somewhat close minded of me, but once a Foccer, always a Foccer.
;)

Well well Exupnut, aren't you the big man, resorting to PM's...

if u dont like the topic then u dont have to read or post. the whole point of a forum is to ellicit some response and opinion. so do me a favour..for FUCKS SAKE GROW UP
I'm plenty grown up, thanks (well as far as I want to be anyway), whereas you cant seem to accept the arguments against your suggestion, and just resort to using huge font, as if that's going to make any difference... Put your dummy back in, boy.

i sent u a pm because u started to swear in ur post mate and although i swore back at u i dont believe it is for forum public consumption. as i have stated in my posts i DO NOT want to change foc-u but that is what people r saying in their posts so i used large type to hopefully make people understand what i mean. i understand people r different and have differing views but if u dont like the subject or what people r saying u dont have to post. for fuck sake give it a rest isnt topical or constructive is it. its a silly post which now i am sure u wish u hadn't posted and i have take down the large type. take care rich and keep it upright.

I like the play on words. I don't think many would be offended when you see so much worse on the High street. French Connection UK springs to mind?
For what it's worth, I don't find FCUK offensive, just another play on words.

I agree. A-Style clothing sponsered a MotoGP race a couple of years ago. Remember their logo  :lol
You can either take offence at their logo or not. Its up to the reader to interpret it.

What about foc-uretha because this idea of change lark is taking the piss!. Does anybody really care what the u stands for? I've never been asked, or asked anyone if they are an "unofficial foccer". Only ever pointed people towards the foc-u fazer owners site as a place for everything fazer related.

Hey Chillum, is that Lumpy? He's a real obstinate bastid. And always up for a good verbal scrap.
