hi london foccers, aprils my turn so thought i would throw an idea at you lot and see what you think :)
first sunday in april will be the 7th a week after easter and we shall be in british summer time so bring your shades and lotion its going to be a hot one :rolleyes .....no thongs please EXUPNUT :eek
two rides under our belts, east to sarrrrrrffffend and south to dungeness,to follow the water theme i thought we would go west and follow the course of the thames....could meet at the ACE or beconsfield services on the m40 jct 2,next junction on from m25
plenty of parking at beconsfield with lots of room to repair punctures or hunt for lost keys and gloves........
so the route..........
A40..........................high wycombe ( my home town )
A404........................marlow (first two crossings of the thames once on the bypass and the other via marlows susspension
bridge
A4155......................henly following the thames, first stop for toilets for you older foccers who cant control your bladders
(trying to please everyone)
A321........................over the thames at henley and onto wargrave
A4............................onto B478 just to get another crossing of the thames at sonning
A415 .......................caversham and reading and another crossing
A 329.......................purley,pangbourne,goring and wallingford for our 6th crossing of the day
A4074......................benson,shillingford and dorchester on thames, bikers cafe here where you can get a
bite to eat ,if your a student theres plenty of free parking :rollin :rollin (still trying to please everyone )
think thats got to be about half a days riding with a few stops, from dorchester we could go up to the dreamy spires at oxford but i would have to do a dry run as dont know oxford too well and then parhaps out towards aylesbury, wendover gerrards cross and back on the m/a 40 back into the hussle and bussly of london.........bit long winded i know and for some reason my text has gone small..........
feedback please foccers good or bad or any changes that we could make :D
-
sounds great cant wait.and so close to the A413 :b
-
hi kitcrazy......we could take in the A413 on the way back parhaps, north of alyesbury i think best for that road,or parhaps we could explore that area another month..........will check mileage later and post once i have a few replies :)
-
..Wallingford's my home town - spooky! The 7th is only a couple of days after I return from a week riding the Fazer down to Malaga and back, so I may be on a different bike, hope that doesn't mean I'm banned! Route looks good to me btw
S
-
hi m8.just cant wait to get out for a good days ride.and fingers crossed some nice weather :thumbup
-
Looks good to me, looking forward to it :D
-
I m tempted by this if I m free to. Am I right in thinking your starting from the Ace Cafe. I would head down from the north on the M1 join you all till peeling off at Ayelsbury to head home to Leicester. Maybe others might wish to join me from that area.
-
PS. this link might be a good stop, http://www.boxertrix.com/MeetingPlaces/FoxsDiner.htm. (http://www.boxertrix.com/MeetingPlaces/FoxsDiner.htm.)

Hope you're feeling better Red...

Definitely interested in joining you guys for this, unless you're likely to leave me in the dust on your big machines. I don't really know many riders so would be good to get to know some of you.
I live in Newbury so wouldn't be too much of a trek to meet up with you, and could always peel off early when we get to around my way... ish :)
-
see you there roosy. watch this space :thumbup

Hi all hope to join you , meet at ace cafe ? Anyone going to the Ace, from Eltham Blackheath way ? see you there all the best Fletch :) Enjoy France Christo

morning all..........three weeks to go,so time for an update

ace cafe
beconsfield services ,jct2 m40
mileage from ace cafe to dorchester on thames, which could be our mid-day lunch/tea break stop is approx 88 miles.....was thinking of heading out towards abingdon and then on to oxford so total milage for the day could be about 150 ish
possibly meeting ROOSY at sonning and STEEVE66 at wallingford both great stops/photo ops and of course chance to look at each others bikes
if anyone else would like to join us on route just let me know and i can change things to suit
clocks change at easter weekend so lighter evenings (i think) so was thinking of meeting at 9.30/10.00 ish at the ace
your thoughts please foccers :)

I think I may have misled someone - Wallingford is my home town in so far as I grew up there, I live near Dartford now so should be joining you wayyyy earlier. Think I'm hooking with some the team around Shooters Hill before heading to the Ace...

Would entirely agree with that, had blue R6, blue R1 now blue Fazer8, which is great.
Did have a BLACK Gen 1 Fazer 1000 which had been modified and was almost as quick as the R1, loved it though, only sold it after two fabulous years as mileage clocking up and finding it a bit heavy, hence Fazer 8! :o
-
So we meeting at blackheath tea hut at 9am ? :) glad mines blue by the way !
-
So we meeting at blackheath tea hut at 9am ? :) glad mines blue by the way !
Reckon it'll need to be 9 if we want to be at the Ace by 10 - those of us meeting at Shooters Hill; it probably makes more sense to meet on Blackheath instead doesn't it?
-
9 @ blackheath it is then. I'll be there.

hi all............i`ll get the maps out tomorrow and finish the route off....i`ll work out a better mileage figure as well, exupnut, that 250 miles sounds a bit high ,probs a bit long if its not going to be all that warm,i`ll post final details tomorrow and then we can agree between us whats best :)
-
Pretty sure I did over 250 miles on the last ride out since I hail from the north of London so for those towards the south-east I wouldn't be too surprised if they manage similar or higher distances :)
-
weathers been better than forcast over the last two days, nice bright morning here in south bucks, sun out and looking good....first part of the ride from the ace down to marlow wont have any hold ups as all m/a roads probs take about 30 /40 mins...road from marlow to henley is a bit slower following the thames.great road and part of my private race track since i was a teen on L plates ........ah,happy days....................................................................we can stop for a while at henley and pose for some piccies,if its quiet we can stop right next to the river with the bridge in the background.......well i hope thats wetted your appetites for what has the makings of a great day out.....any of you peeps out there who cant make your minds up about coming..just do it....we`re a friendly bunch...looking at the photos after the event is not the same as being there ;)

went out to ride the april route this afternoon, saturday afternoon not the best of times to go out but i do have a better idea of mileage now, didnt quite do the whole route but not far short.....couple of hazards i spotted, the m40 roundabot jct4 is covered in grit still and the surface is very poor so might change the route slightly, also the marlow / henley road is in a bad way, lots of pot holes and loose chippings for the first couple of miles so might swap to the other side of the river, was going to ride through reading town centre to pick up two more crossings of the river but lots of road works at moment so might go via caversham and loose one crossing.
will re-write the route tomorrow and add mileage and anything else i can think of :lol

Hi if the weather is holding up well enough for me to make it, I have lived in Abingdon and would be happy to lead the way from there to Oxford. If time is on our side through Oxford City there would be a glimps of the place and another crossing of the Thames.

Be nice to see u @ abbingdon. Lets hope weather is good.

take full advantage of the ride to the ace FAZER390 as the rest of the day we will be crawling along at snails pace with lots of stops waiting for those pesky BLUE bikes to catch up :rolleyes ......you know who you are :lol :lol
-
Definitely still planning to join you, just a matter of where and when... given that I generally find any excuse to go for a ride (and for as long as possible!) I'm tempted to meet you a bit further east-ish... are you still stopping at Beaconsfield, or High Wycombe etc? Might as well make a day of it eh!
And I'll give you a buzz Red if I'm gonna be a no show for any reason... shouldn't be though!
-
Silver is slow. I speak from experience.

I've been invited to my nephew's birthday party (+ it's too cold for me!) so I'm going to have to give this one a miss.
I will have warm trousers for the next one, promise!

hi roosy........was`nt going to stop at beconsfield now due to lack of interest.....iam in high wycombe and will be leaving for the ace at about 8.45/9.00 your more than welcome to join me for the ride up there................or we could meet at sonning as we said earlier or parhaps marlow but this would mean missing the view from winter hill and of course it is yamaha day at the ace ;) let me know what you think ,iam sure we can agree on something.

good morning all :) ..............fantastic morning here in south bucks..a healthy 10 deg and sunshine...... :D :D :D
great day for getting the bike out and giving a good clean , polish ,check tyre pressures, oil and top the tank up with fuel in readyness for a cracking day out tomorrow
bit more about the route.......a bit boring to start with,a trundle down the western avenue upto junction with a40,turn off onto a40 which never really gets busy ,good open roads down to the outskirts of high wycombe, will turn off here as wycombe can get busy and they are re-surfacing the a40,onto b roads down to cookham and our first crossing of the thames, from here we turn right up some un-classed roads to winter hill ,with the view accross the thames valley and a short break
as i am leading this month the pace is going to be steady (yes i know iam old :rolleyes ),its more about the route than who gets there first and as we all have different levels of skill and experience this should hopefully please every one.to all you newbies out there who are a bit un decided,i have no intention of leaving anyone behind, getting lost, falling off ,upsetting pc plod, annoying other road users or breaking the land speed record.........so come along and see biking at its best , meet some fantastic people and have a great day out
at this rate i`ll be able to get a job with the THAMES VALLEY TOURIST BOARD :lol :lol :lol :lol
off to polish the fazer now.........see you all at the ace :D
-

Thanks again to red for brilliant journey along some great roads. Was beginning to think there weren't many around this part of the country!

didnt think to include a40 in the route as use it most days when iam out,but turned out to be best part of the ride...a40 gets better the other side of oxford and beyond :)

Cheers to Red for the route, nice to meet up with some of you again, and to meet new faces!
-
(and that GT3 didn't stand a chance... :lol )
:rollin :rollin
As far as I can remember there's only been one car that wanted to play that I let get away. It was a Ferrari 355 Maranello, and I think the driver knew the road very well as it was set up for the corner way before I could even read it.... mind you, I was on my XJR1200 (barge) at the time.
The other Guy that rode back to London on the GSX was my good freind Dave. He thanked me for the invite and good company of you foccers.
Next London (and home counties) in May. I'll start route planning later in the week. So CU next in Brum NMM on the 28th April.

hi red im up for alook round should be good.does anyone know if there wll be any fazer goodies for sale at this brum meet?
Not unless people bring stuff that they want to sell.
Usualy It's a meet up in the carpark to chew the cud, to look at and talk Fazers. There is the museum there, which is pretty good if you've not been round it. Well worth the look.
PS Don't know about a Hasting Bank Holiday run on the 6th May.
The London Foccers run is planned for the first Sunday of the month. 5th May.
