« on: 11 December 2020, 09:47:47 am »
ok, so the issue is solved now.The problem was my weak German, so I did not translate the article properly before. Once I did it properly I found out, that the old "plus" cable has to be disconected completely from the head lamp relay and the new cable attached instead of the old one.Now everything runs perfectly. So I hope that all my electric related mods are done now.

I am currently playing with electrical things.
I have fitted new led turn lights and led tail light too.
My front lights are very weak, so I am trying to solve this issue. I have found an article on one German sight, where a guy added new shorter cables to supply the lights.
Earth cable is ease, just to put short cable from the left head lamp and attached it to the frame.
The plus cable is bit more difficult, I added new cable from fuses to the head lamp relay.
I must say, that the head lamp lights visibly better. However, I have got an issue, that the electric is on even the key is in Off or lock position. I have realized, that if I disconnect the plus cable, the electric is off.

Did anyone try this mod in the past please? Here is the sourcehttp://cvieth.bplaced.net/motorrad_licht.html
Edit: one more information. Currently, my carbs and fuel tank are out of the bike as I am cleaning the carbs and about to fit the Ivans kit.
So, could be the issue above related to the fact, that the TPS, fuel pump and the fuel tank are disconnected?

Where have you found those adapter please?

I am thinking about some different mirror for my gen1 too. I am not too happy with standard ones.

One of the option I d like to try is to fit mirrors onto the handlebars.

yes, the same on my side. I would like to have it reversable, just in case the bike would need to be stock.
Anyway, I have a luck this evening, I just found and purchased used 320mm brembo discs for R1 98-03 so for gen1 Fzs. So, just need to find adapters for stock adapters.

Thanks very much, very usefuk information and photos.

That would be perfect to fit r6 rear wheel too, 5 spoke wheels look much better and the r6 wheel is the same wide...Ok, so I am starting search for r6 wheels😁

Yeah perfect. I am just about fitting 99 R1 forks. So the 2003 R6 front wheel should fit too. I will take a look on which year of FZ1 has discs with 6 bolt pattern.Dont you have any picture of your front end too?

I haven't got any recent close up pictures of the front end but have one from a few years ago(about 2017), it shows 310mm discs that came with the wheels. I have 320mm discs on the bike now.
thank you mate, really appreciate it. May I ask two questions?Do you use R6 rear wheel on your fazer too? Because the R6 front wheels has 5 spokes and the FZS has 3 spokes. And, did you have to use different spacers to fit the front wheel between wheel and the forks?
thank you

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Fitting Ivan`s jet kit
« on: 07 December 2020, 10:07:43 am »
Simple. :)

Turn the screws in fully until they just seat, then back them out 4 & 1/4 turns.

Haynes manual would only give stock settings anyway, so not relevant for the Full Monty install.

Ivan himself says 4 & 1/2 to 5 turns out but I found that made the idle mixture a bit too rich.
many thanks.i just realized that I have mixed up two screws, however I have found out already which one is the pilot screw

Tried  the usual UK performance part makers some years ago (2015) but no one was interested, ended up going to a company in the USA, BrakeTech, who supplied a set of adaptors.

Just checked their website and the adaptors are no longer mentioned, might still be worth contacting them.

They weren't cheap even then $200 ex-works plus import duty.
I have contacted one italian company and it looks that they are still able to supply them, so I hope I will get them.
However, what discs did you use please? I dont know what discs to use.

Hi all, me again.
I am just cleaning my carbs and getting everything ready to fit Ivans full monty kit.
The only information I cannot find is, how to set up Pilot screw. Unfortunately, I did not check how many turnst it was screwed from the fully in. Haynes manual does not say anything too.
Many thanks in advance.Kralik

bit out of Nitron topicI have fitted BMW S1000RR 2013 rear shock to my FZS1000 recently, and this change is remarkable. The feeling from rear is much better, I like it.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Front brake caliper adapters for 320mm discs

two reasons are there for me. Personally, I like the look of the 320mm discs more and also I am looking for more stronger front brakes too. I just like strong brakes and am used to.My second bike has 320 rotors in standard, it is lighter too and I like braking very much.
I know this mod is not common for gen1, but it was quite common for first gen R1.
Several companies were saling adapters for this mode in the past, but I am strugling find a set now.

Hi all
Did anyone of you did conversion from 298 front brake discs to 320 discs on you fazer please?
I am trying to find the caliper spacers to fit with standard calipers.

i would recomend to change the brake fluid too. The old brake fluid and the mess in it can lead to this behaviour.

I had similar issue, when the lever felt very "raw" when pushing it, once I changed the fluid this behaviour disappeared.

I had Shark carbon silencer on the FZS1000 and it was ok. It was bit heavy because the second layer under the carbon one was metal. But I found and bought used homologated Akrapovic silencer in very good price, yes it is bit "touched" but nothing wrong. The akra is genuine fazer one with homologotion for Fazer and R1.
So I think you can give it some time and look for the right can on the net.

I have fitted genuine akra which I found in a very good price. Yes it would need some love but overall it is good. Unfortunately it came without link pipe and db killer, but I found them and cannot resist to buy them too.
I am getting all parts ready for r1 fork conversion, so changed the oil and seals in them. Hope I will have the yokes ready soon.
And yes, I bought and fitted new front brake disks too.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Does 4XV R1 rear wheel fit to gen1 FZS1000?
« on: 30 October 2020, 12:00:02 pm »
Hi all, dont you know whether the early R1 4xv rear wheel fits to gen1 FZS1000? I just like the look of the wider rear wheel.
Yeah, I tried 190 tyre in the original FZS rear wheel already, but the tyre was too bended in the tighter FZS rear wheel. Ok it was Pireli Supercorsa, which are pretty wide anyway.TIA
