Title: Australian owners
Post by: stevie-g1968 on 06 February 2017, 06:40:55 am

hi guys, ive surfaced again ;)
well my 600 fazer arrived in perth wa last week... now I need a little advice here.... my tyres are a bit borderline and the bike needs to go over the pits to be certified here, then I can apply for rego.

I'm trying to find tyres for the bike...  110/70/17 front seems to be a problem to source.

so, could I get away with 120/60/17 ? or 110/80/17? ... dunno if that would handle well?

or where to source tyres in wa or aus, either online or in store.

anyway... for the poms in the uk... its around 30c here and lovely and sunny... down side... cant use my bike yet. :( :(

There was over sized tyres on my bike when I bought it and it turned in way slower so I'd recommend sticking with the standard size tyres. You'll get them posted cheaper than you think. All I can say about the roadworthy over there is go to a proper bike mechanic and bring a workshop manual. I went to a local guy who mostly did cars and it was a right faff.

Not sure if you can get these in Australia but searching for Bridgestone Battlax BT-023. I use them on my 600 and they are excellent, stick like shit to a blanket in the wet and just fantastic in the dry  :D

I have heard of a number of guys fitting the 120 X 60 X 17, they say it's fine, but I don't know, makes me wonder if by pulling the beads in closer together than they were ever intended onto a 110 rim it might change the profile of the tread pattern making it more slightly more pointed and possibly could cause ballooning of the wider walls.
Personally I would try to get a 110 X 70 X 17, even if you have to import one, if you plan on staying in Aus and keeping FZS it might pay you to but a couple of rear tyres keep one in stock.
Sound like its working out for you there Stevie, good on yer mate. :D :sun :sun :sun
Love them Battlax I have them on mine

I have Rellies in Aus, in a town called Darlene just out side Melbourne. (Bro-In-Law) he has been there for about 8 years now he loves it and no way he would come back to UK to live, he married an Aus girl Jodie she is a stunner and he has two boys now.
He works in the renewable industry (solar) designs and sells systems for a large corporation.

Good Luck with the tyres :thumbup
