Anyone up for a day out ?.....how about another attempt at visiting the sammy miller museum in the new forest ?.....meet at box hill stopping at loomies and onto sammy's place........or have you got a better idea ?

Drat, story of my life, have to be in Newmarket 8.30am that day!
Been to Cheddar Gorge recently, stopping at Loomies for breakfast, Sammy Millers is great, wish I was joining you, been there several times and never tire of it, especially when in good company!
Was at Thruxton yesterday on the flying Fazer 8, not a track day as such, as they don't do bike days there any more, but an IAM Ride Skills Day for £120, 6 x 20 min track sessions, with 6 x 20 min classroom sessions and 6 x 20 mins rest break plus an hour for lunch!
Fabulous long track, just over 3 miles and very technical, just loved it, non IAM members are welcome too! Covered 300 miles in all, 100 of them on track so an amazing day with endless tea, coffee and water plus lunch voucher thrown in. Bonus is you don't have to wear leathers, just normal protective gear, if anyone is interested will find out next date, they have also done Goodwood.
Just waiting for track photo's to be posted http://kellydowlingphotography.com/proofing/
Enjoy a great day 8)

Met up with some local lads and rode some fantastic byways to Glider café at Charing for some breakfast. A 20 strong contingent of the Kent greenlaners turned up looking and sounding like a Mad Max movie. A good start to Fathers day and only one little off when my front washed out over some tree roots. Managed to pick it up and remount before the others came round the corner and rip the piss out of me. :D Had to own up to it though when I needed to borrow an allen key to retighten my handguard  :o
That looks a lot of fun, not sure how my knees would cope with that lol :)

Scary reading this thread and I am probably the oldest! Did have a new hip last year which has proved to be a godsend, need surgery on arthritic shoulder but on a cocktail of meds which keeps it going for the time being, This a result of being knocked off the R1 in Scotland 2009 with an 8 day stay in Glasgow Southern General while they decided what to do.
However I have two dogs, so do a lot of walking, which I am sure helps, as I too have dodgy knees due to other non bike related accidents but not looking forward to a time when not able to ride my bike, hoping that is still a long way off :\

Thankfully I don't need an excuse, as we are all bikers! Only problem is arranging for someone to let the dogs out if on the bike for all day, as went to Cheddar Gorge via Loomies, 12 hours in all covering 400 amazing miles mostly lanes and lovely villages.
Also had a trip up to Gaydon for a course, some fantastic roads up there too, considering how near it is to Birmingham.
Managed another session with KFB at Brands Hatch, track photo same as last year, but not such good quality, Fazer was amazing though, like a little terrier.
Next adventure is to visit Thruxton for a course with track time thrown in as well on 3rd July, will avoid the M3 like the plague as major roadworks Northbound as I discovered on the not so quick blat back from Cheddar. The others reversed the route which took two hours longer and I needed to be back for the dogs 8)

Looking forward to it
Classic Car Show Crystal Palace, last time I went quite a few bikes too.
:)

Looks like I can have the best of both worlds, can do 17th and go to Palace Motorsports as I grew up just around the corner and go back frequently with my grandsons and my dogs. Just adopted a lurcher to join my Staff who was a stray, they are brilliant together and both fabulous with the boys.

Nice to hear you'll be up at the Palace for the motorsport. We can meet up and have a coffee when the racing cars have a lie down and rest for lunch.

 8)  Brilliant, will work out which day I can go.

I'll be snapping both days on the infield but I always have a walk about, burger and beer during the lunchtime break so any day is good.

I got a ticket some years ago going through Hurst Green at 8am for doing 38mph in a 30mph, went on a speed awareness course to avoid points, but was livid as there was not another soul on the road and never found out if it was a static or mobile camera, but certainly nothing to do with road safety!!

Enjoy, a very worthwhile cause, used to marshall the on the road bit, but just don't have time these days,  enjoyed it immensely. Last time I did it we had a very early morning run from Travelodge in Swindon to airfield, very cold and foggy but turned into a brilliant day :D

Might be up for this, route down there can be boring unless you go through all the little villages.
True, did that when we went sand racing as couldn't face miles of Motorway and dual carriageway. May be up for this bike must be sorted by then, frustrating having it in the garage and not being able to use it! :'(

Still no disc for Fazer, not looking good to borrow R1 back as looks as if Alex is going out with a friend for a bimble as he has been in the car all week due to courses etc.
Hope disc arrives Monday been a bit of a stressful week trying to locate one and arrange for it to be fitted for MOT which was due on 14th, so legally I can't ride the bike now.
May take a ride up to Lakeside in car with dogs to see you off then console myself with a novelty dog show in Sussex. :'( Fed up is an understatement.

63
Still planning to meet at Nell's IF rear disc arrives tomorrow and can be fitted, as failed MOT due to warped disc!! Been rushing around like a demented flea trying to source a disc, but has been ordered from Yamaha Holland as don't appear to be any for my bike within grabbing distance.
Failing that will borrow R1 back again (well it is a Yamaha) and put up with achy neck and arms! lol :\  Have a route of sorts, doesn't include Burnham Bends, but does include pick up at Lakeside and B184 :b

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Not loving my tires.
« on: 02 May 2015, 09:03:41 am »
I'm running bt23's no feeling from the rear at all. Maybe it's just because I haven't been out for 6 month what should I change to ?

Used to run Pirelli Angel ST on my Gen 1 Fazer 1000,longevity and good grip.http://www.visordown.com/reviews/kit/tyres/pirelli-angel-st/5213.html also have them on my Fazer 8 as it came with Bridgestones which I hated as felt as if front was going to wash out.
Angel ST still available but not sure if they are phasing them out.
Nothing but good reports on Michelin Pilot Road 3,some say better than the Road 4!
Hope this helps, does rather depend what sort of riding you do, but I do allsorts so need a tyre that copes with everything I chuk at it. :b

Found a photo of my Fazer 1000 I sold to buy 2009 Fazer 1000 which I wrote off on M20 which led me to buy Fazer 8!
The guy who bought the black Fazer 1000 still has it and loves it, even calls it Grandma, only sold it as so heavy it was pulling my shoulders out and I have arthritis in right shoulder where I hit the deck in Scotland in 2009 after being knocked off R1.
Still have the R1 sort of, as I gave it to my son,but rode it in March to go to Margate for the sand racing as the Fazer8 was trapped in garage while the drive was being relaid.
