kev are you selling your skunk and getting that mt09 you had your eyes on on the other forum. I've still got my skunk I bought from bikeworld back in 2004 about the same time as you.  I was looking to change and rode a mt09.  I can't really justify getting one. the big fazer is getting a bit heavy for me but is still a great bike

Hi, the Gen 1 does seem to be putting on weight with age, just like me  :rollin .

I am hopefully going to look at the MT09 today and I have a test ride on an S1000R and S1000XR booked for tomorrow. I am keeping the Skunk though, 11 years old and still going strong, plus it owes me nothing.

What did you think of the MT09 when you road it?

Off to Belgium and Germany on Thursday night boat, for a wiz around on the old Fazer.

If I can throw my 2p worth in.

I've ridden it a couple of times, and its the only bike I've ever been tempted to buy new!
Problem is that I couldn't see straight when riding it as I was just constantly giggling my tits off!
Best fun I've had on two wheels.
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

It was kind of ok but don't think I could live with it. Think I'm a bit old school and didn't really get on with any fi bike's I have ridden. Very difficult to keep at a constant speed without continually adjusting throttle on the 09. You see many for sale and it seems that the love affair people have with them is short lived. I'm sure if I got one I would only keep it a short while

Yes, I have seen lots for sale and cheap now, some are going for under £5K. Seems lots of people are upgrading to the Tracer, but some moans about them starting to appear.

Fuelling is easy to sort with an ECU reflash and the O2 mod, I just fancy something lighter and a bit more fun on shorter runs.

OOPs, hijacking my own thread....lol

Me, I've got 3 bikes and if I was gonna get a 09 the fazer would have to go.  my other 2 bikes are Rd400, and 350lc. They are keeper's so the older I get the more I think the fazer will be too.
