silly cheap FZS1000 - selling on behalf of a friend
« on: 08 February 2015, 04:54:41 pm »
Yamaha Fzs1000, 52 Plate, 37,000 miles, New tyres, new brake pads, Full Givi luggage, tank cover, bellypan, acumen gear indicator, belly pan etc etc. Being sold by a mate of mine for £1600!!!! I would have it myself but its the wrong time of year for me.

Bad points are little split in the fairing by the LHS mirror, and the seat has a split in it but its a ridiculously cheap bike for someone with the cash, there is no haggling, no p/x, no swaps it needs to be £1600

I don't think it'll hang around long at that price, PM me your details and I will pass them on. Bike is located in Kettering

No swaps... I am seriously thinking about borrowing the money so that I can buy it as its a serious investment

Did you ring him? I cannot vouch for the bike as I don't know its history, but it looked good on the once over I gave it and I can vouch for the guy selling it.

Yes, phoned him this morning, and as long as it doesn't get sold from underneath me I will be the proud owner of a 26k mile Fazer by Saturday afternoon.
Anyone want to buy a 25k mile CBF1000?

He said 26K, I said that I thought it was 37K, but he said no, 26K. Ive organised a trailer for Saturday and we are off to pick it up early doors. I cant wait!
He did tell me that there may be a problem with the alignment of the lights, probably due to the damage that also caused the crack in the faring? But at 16 ton with 26K on it, if I have to buy another top faring frame, its still worth it!

Now then, R6 shock, Maxton re valve front forks, seat cover, sort the lights and find out how I'm going to get it "Ivanised"(?). Oh, and an MOT.

I had a quick look at the top fairing it didn't appear out of line although he says he thinks it is..... I think he is worrying about nothing. If anything take the fairing in-fills out, undo the bolts at the rear of the fairing and put a bar into the side of the headlight cage where it joins the headstock and give it a tweek.

He rang me earlier to say that your having it. :D

At the moment I'm just very excited, I will report back tomorrow on my happiness level when I have the bike and have given it the once over. But I have the feeling that it will be a good Saturday.

By the way, how is this Mk1 Gen Fazer engine for oil consumption? The Genesis/EXUP motors used to use quite a lot under normal circumstances, is the Mk1 R1 motor in these bikes the same?

When I had my gen1 1000 I changed oil and filter every 2000 miles and in between never had to top it once in 6 years of ownership, but every engine is different so just check  the oil level on a regular basis.

So is the oil light a low pressure indicator or a low level indicator like the EXUPs?

Ok, picked it up. A bit tatty, needs the faring bracket bending back to true, all the exposed bolts need removing and cleaning up, same with the front engine mounts, brakes feel a bit bind-y, the exhaust studs will shear when I take the zorst off so I'll leave that for when I take the engine out for a re spray. So there's a bit of work to get it through the mot but overall I'm a happy bunny! Oh, and there's an 07 fault code on the tachometer, dodgy exup valve adjustment/failure, but it doesn't look neglected so it's probably adjustment.
