Yesterday my engine crash bars arrived, so I worked through my lunch and finished work early so I had plenty of time to get them fitted before going out. No fitting instructions so it was all guess work but I think I did alright however I did have to use some different longer bolts in a couple of areas.

A little bit like mine but yours look longer does this help

Fitted

Cheers buddy, but mine have a load more fiddily bits that you have to line up and tighten before actually getting to bolt it to the bike, yours look soo much easier to fit. I tried googling for instructions for them but even after finding out who make them they don't have instructions, which is quite suprising as it's a German company and the Germans are normally on the ball when it comes to manuals and technical information. I might when I get a free weekend, take them off and do a how to fit video on YouTube.

Yamaha BW'S (a 50cc beast of a machine with a max speed of 45mph down a very steep hill and a very strong wind behind you  :rollin :lol :rollin )
Yamaha YB 100 (loved that little thing)
WK 125 Sport (a cheap Chinese bag of Shite)
Yamaha FZR 600 Genesis (my first big boy bike)
Yamaha FZS 600 Fazer (by far the best bike I've owned so far)

I bought some of those LED tire valve dust caps that are ment to show a glowing disk of light in your wheel when they spin. What a load of bollocks they were. I spotted them on evilbay for a couple of quid and thought to myself hummm! I like Tron so sod it and bought them  :lol they lasted about 1 day before they cracked up and broke off.

Gotta be careful with Copper Grease as it alters torque settings, and disc bolts should really all be torqued correctly.

Only if you use way too much, I'm only talking about a thin rubbing around the thread

Are the bolts t45 as that was what i used to undo the bolts, need to be sure before i put new bolts on and chew them up.

Can't answer if they are the same front and rear but when you do put bolts back in remember to give the thread a splodge of copper slip that way if you need to take them out again at a later date they won't be as difficult to undo. You probably already know that but thought I'd mention it just in case  :thumbup

Bike has a split radiator hose right under the tank, new one has been order but what bloody hard to get hold off, found it with electrical blue tap wrapped around it, clearly the owner before me wanted a quick fix, I'm amazed it's lasted the near 6000 miles with me lol
Get some more blue tape and re do it

use red electrical tape as it will make it go faster  :rollin :rollin :rollin

my advice is give all of the engine a good clean with GUNK http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/engine-cleaner-degreaser/gunk-engine-degreaser-1-litre or something similar, clean it all up so you have clean areas to see for sure where any leaks are comming from. I say use GUNK as I know you can just wash it off with water after.

wear rubber gloves and clothes you don't mind binning after if you are going to use GUNK as it stinks and the smell will stay on you skin for ages

ive been tempted to paint mine but as its carbon (my first ever piece of carbon or carbon effect) im not sure or not
- prob should take it off have a look and see if i can clearcoat it for a better shine

I would have preferred carbon but it was just soo much more costly.
You could try giving it a polish with some Tcut or something similar then use some polishing wax, thats if it was shiny in the first place otherwise yes a coating of Lacquer would probably be your best bet.

Not today but over the weekend I painted and fitted my new hugger, it doesn't quite fit exactly so I've got to do some modifications but other than that I'm really happy with it.

Engine oil I just use Castrol Power 1 4T 10W-40 (Don't get the Power 1 Racing version as it's exactly the same just more expensive because it's branded as 'Racing') as for Chain and Sprockets I use Afam they are more expensive than DID and other makes but they are bloody good and they last so much longer.

Not today but last week while i was in Blackpool on holiday there was a guy on a Black Boxeye doing MOD 1 training in the carpark next to our hotel and the instructor was on a Gen 1 Fazer 1000. Then on our way home I spotted a Gold Boxeye on the M6.

my fazer is in the garage. bad timing as I sent it in saturday and it was the most beautiful weekend ever and now a 4 day weekend and it might not be ready untill tuesday  :'(

its having:

oil n filter
air filter
valve clearances
carb balance
2x new tyres
MOT
possibly front brake pads

I'm missing it alot, took out the Divvy instead and omg does it feel like a riding a rocking horse with a lawnmower engine after getting used to the fazer.

I would be kicking up a right stink if a garage took over a week to do what you're having done, all of that work can be done in a day. Or do they not have any of the parts in stock?

First time today in 30 years riding i had to remove my lid at a petrol station before the bastard would turn the pump on.
Kept my cool and didn't say a word to the fella behind the till.......deep breaths now.  :grumble
Me too. the other day, I just lay the nozzle on the floor and ride off
Crossed my mind too, but as i mentioned earlier, the large police station next door certainly paid a part in my final reaction.

It’s frustrating, but acts of petulance aren’t going to improve matters… it’ll just add weight to the theory that bikers are a bunch of reprobates.
We need them more than they need us. If they average a couple of pence profit per litre, the cost of processing the transaction for your 15 litre top-up means they probably don’t break even on the deal.

This is one of the reasons why I have a flip front helmet. Just makes life so much easier as I don't need to take my lid off when filling up or paying at the counter, I just flip the front up to reveal my fugly mug  :lol

FOCCING dickhead work colleagues who just don't FOCCING listen to what you are saying as they are too FOCCING busy either talking over you or picking holes in what you are saying as they haven't let you FOCCING finish. If it wasn't for the fact that (a) I'm not a violent person and (b) I can't afford to loose my job because of some FOCCING TWAT faced arrogant FUCKTARD who thinks he is just the best at everything, I'd knock him the FOC out.

Oh I'm with you on that one!!!

I just don't understand what kick they get from being complete wankers.

Sounds like we share the same boss.  :lol

if it was my boss then I would have just told him to shut the FOC up and stop being a dick as he is a really nice guy  :lol it's mainly the dickhead I have to sit next to, He is one of those people that if you say that you have been to tenerefe then he has been to elevenerefe  :lol and everything you are excited about he has to put it down because he has done better for example I had a race on my 600 Fazer against an R6 and I managed to wipe the floor with him (didn't happen but you get my drift  :lol ) he would have lapped him about 3 times in the time I completed the race because he is just sooooooo FOCCING amazing.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Which tyre?
« on: 03 April 2017, 02:01:43 pm »
Not sure if I could trust a repaired tyre, I'd play it safe and just get new.

What if it was new?
Mushroom patches are fine and work well.
My rear tyre cost me over £160 in a shop, due to my previous tyre being punctured, and i spotted a screw sticking out of it THE NEXT DAY.  :'(
Fortunately it went sideways into the deepest part of the thread and hadn't punctured it, but either way if it had punctured it i would've just got it repaired.

Unless the tyre tread is past half way, then a repair is fine, if it is then just replace it.

Never been in that situation so far (I bet I've bloody jinxed it now :\ ) I'd probably still just get new again but get the reapir done and sell it to someone who is fine running a repaired tyre

Spent most of the day in the garage working on my little red beast:*Engine oil and filter changed
*Repaired the piece that broke off my front mudguard and attached the fender extender that took 3 fecking weeks to arrive
*Adjusted and lubed the chain
*Gave it a good wash
*Took it out for a good blast in the gorgeous sunshine, with lovely dry roads.

It's just a shame I had to go home and cook dinner, but I can't complain too much as it was TACO night 🌮

I'm glad this thread has been brought up as I was wondering about a steering damper for my 600 as wondered if it would help improve the handling on these now crappy british roads.

Would I be waisting my time and money getting one for my 600 or does it sound good?

The lying bastarding weather app on my phone. It told me that it was raining in the morning which it was and there will be on off showers throughout the day. Because it matched what the weather was in the morning I decided to wear my waterproofs that happen to be thermal, well since from about 10am it's been clear skies blazing sun and I'm there sweating my fecking goolies off looking like a right tit in Mitchelin man suit  :groan when I got back to the office I couldn't get my kit off quick enough, I was that quick it was like I was on a promise  :lol :sex :lol
