I had the same alarm on my Fazer when I got it - and also had difficulties. When it went wrong on a trip through Spain (the hazard warning lights came on and everything else went dead) I had it removed - didn't cost much.

I think I'm going to the classics this year rather than the main event

I just got a new PR3 rear but that was only because the front wasn't worn out - if I were replacing both I'd try the PR4 for sure.

New rear tyre and then MOT at the legend that is Neil at Urals opp Brands Hatch. Exup then started to rattle so had to put that right when I got home. Turned out the hex bolt holding the valve in place had worked loose - oddly there's no torque spec for it in Haynes(?). Gorgeous weather.

they're removable, sure - just (carefully) unscrew it - but my seized one wasn't repairable, i tried; soaked in penetrating oil etc. eventually the brass screw just got mangled.
If everyone wrote to Yamaha they might shift their position a little...?
Just a thought.

you're not the first to have hit this problem. They don't sell the item separately (i did a thread on this issue, having written to Yamaha and been fobbed off, a couple of years back - see below) and will only sell them as part of the fork lower assembly. So far as I know no one else (like K-Tech) does a replacement either. In the end i had to go to a breakers yard to get a replacement that wasn't seized. What irritated me a little was that, somewhere in Japan, there's a box full of these things... http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,236.msg1354.html#msg1354

Yes, yes, yes, it all seems very simple doesn't it! All the fleabay suppliers I found despatched from Honk Kong - with all uncertainty as to whether 3M were actually the manufacturer or whether it had been made in a small shed in China with a tube of Copydex, some cardboard and a 1980's lazer printer!

Now you mention it... Anyone know the best place to get replacement 3M sticky pads from?

Cleaned off what was left of last weeks ride round the south circular - tucked up again in garage, 'plugged in' waiting for weather to improve..

Had to ride to work around the SouthCircular through sh*te, wet, salted roads.. Washed it when I got home.

Did a 'rebuild' of the master cylinder on my CB500 (which has had a hard time of it this winter..). Have learnt once again the folly of using pattern parts..

So sorry to hear the news Christo - just glad to hear you're not hurt. I, for one, hope you stick with bikes.. Although maybe spend some time on something smaller?

..I have a kettle.. ..and a cafetiere... Me too. Tastes good to me. The only wee machine is the bean grinder. Which is my best tip buy beans not ground coffee, ground coffee goes off very quick.
I do like a good cappuccino if I'm out, though never set foot in Starbucks and never will.
I should get a grinder but instead go for Lavazza Qual Rossa...
