Brace, You could take a trip to the circuit before the Bikesafe date and get them to check your exhaust. This is a service they offer to trackday bods who think their exhaust might be above 105db.

Brace They are hot on exhaust noise and there is a sound check at 2/3rds redline and 105db. If I remember rightly you had a non standard zorst on your FZ1. Will it pass the sound check, or do you have the original to refit? I can recall my mate had an R1 with a blue flame exhaust with the baffles in and it still failed

That's interesting. My Zumo 550 wiring has a plug on one end to fit in to the sat nav mount, an inline fuse and two wires to connect to the battery.

I found it was draining the battery even with the sat nav removed from the bike. Are you sure?? If you have a cable attached to the battery, with nothing attached on the other end, how does that drain the battery?

Another aspect to this incident is, are you insured to carry goods, ie for work purposes. Although I realise you may have been doing your employers a favour. If you are only insured for SD& P plus commuting, your insurance company might look for a get out clause even though you would have been going down that route anyway. Just a thought.

In Clarkson mode, if peeps wish to throw themselves under a train, why not wait for a goods train, instead of inconveniencing 150+ passengers.

1962 Austin minivan. green, go faster stripes, straight through exhaust and a mattress in the back. Ah those were the days . Just out of interest, my first memory of buying petrol was at 4/6 a gallon for my Triumph tiger cub
