Hoggin the Bridge Club invites you to join them for Hoggin the Bridge 2014.

This year the ride will take place on Sunday 19th October and will start in the Brightside Group PLC car park at 11.00 a.m. behind Severn View Services, Aust, Junction 1 M48, near Bristol.  The parade ride will begin by Hoggin the Severn Bridge then follow the usual route through several local towns and villages and will finish at Chepstow Race Course.

Here we intend to use this fantastic venue to spoil you with bigger and easier parking areas, more bands, loads more traders and stalls, and a great range of food outlets.  Covered seating will be available in the stands, so you can sit and listen to the bands while enjoying a drink, a bite to eat or just chat and watch the world go by.

New for this year. the Hoggin the Bridge ride, which is great in itself, will finish with a parade of bikes right through the very heart of the race course (no grass riding) giving all the riders a chance to show off their finery and giving all spectators a chance to see a really great spectacle.
The ride will then finish, again new for this year, on an all tarmac surface. Remember to take part in this unique spectacle you need to have registered, so go to our tickets page and join in.
Also, we will also be hosting a ride in bike show.  For those who enter, they will have the chance to not only show off their bike, but also win a prize.  As well as all this we hope to have an auto jumble on site, more details to follow........all in all this gives us a chance to thank you for your support of our charity fundraising event and give you a great day to remember.
This is a charity fundraising event open to all motorcyclists and for you to take part in the ride, along with some 3 to 4 thousand other bikes, all we ask for is a donation.

You can make a donation on-line, or alternatively print and complete the donation by post form for Hoggin' the Bridge 2014.

Donations will also be accepted on the day for those who want to see what the weather is like.
Donations can also be made at......
BigBoar Motorcycles, Unit 4, Bulwark Business Park, Chepstow
Artists Corner, 4 Thomas Street, Chepstow
(next door to the Co op)

The UK’s biggest and best weekly bike meet takes places on Poole Quay every Tuesday from 6pm. This popular motorbike event, sponsored by BLD, runs from the first Tuesday in April to the end of September (the last night in 2014 is Tuesday 30th September, when the 'Bike of the Year' is chosen)   The entire Quay is closed off to all traffic, except bikes. Numbers of motorbikes regularly exceed 1000. The display features a wide range of models and makes, many of which have been modified and fitted with interesting features and extras...    http://www.pooletourism.com/go.php?structureID=pages&ref=N52E28222A8C9E    8)

I plan to be there...  ;) Getting away early from work to get there at a reasonable time can be difficult; however as this is the last one of the season I planned ahead and booked an early stack... I should get there by 6pm...  8)

True Nick... My bike's not been right for the last 12 months; inconsistent running, cutting out and starting especially!
Seems like it's sorted now as turned out it was the alarm; however it still didn't like starting like it used to for some reason.  :\
Then Sunday the choke cable snapped and I felt I had to fix it straight away. I'm a bit OCD with things like this!
Starting now is effortless. I now believe the sticking now snapped choke cable contributed to the temperamental starting...  :rolleyes

Hope to see you on the next ride out. Gutted I missed this one. Was it a good day?

Hay solorider; just saw your post. I live near Bassett and pass where you had your accident every day on the way to work. I saw your bike in the layby and didn't think much of it until I saw this post!

You may have already got it sorted now, but if you need a hand with anything give me a shout...

Also Steve Lynham is literally just around the corner by the crematorium; he could collect your bike and fix it for you. Or I have some contacts regarding sourcing parts and I can give you a hand fixing it if you're stuck...

Jase...  ;)

All fixed; made & fitted a replacement bowden cable. Too late to go now... :-\

64
Hope to see you there... ;-)

Bollox!!! Scrap that; just snapped choke cable!!! :-(

« on: 15 September 2014, 10:18:27 am »
After fitting the 4deg advancer to mine the other week and not initially being impressed; 'I stand corrected'...  :rolleyes

I did the London to Brighton on Sunday, which was the only decent run I've done since fitting the advancer.
Not only is it smoother, responsive and just as pokey, I've managed to get 215miles out of the tank with 4ltrs to spare!  :eek  Usually it's around 180miles per tank +/-

For my bike in particular, and I've had her now for almost 10yrs now!, it's been having some issues this last 12 months; starting, running, missing, cutting out etc...  I've addressed everything electrical and fuel related including removing the alarm; the alarm being the main culprit!

The 4 deg advancer has been the icing on the cake which has finally reinstated full confidance of my old girl... :)  I wish I knew to do this years ago...  :eek

Good to see you at the Ace Paul. Wasn't expecting to see you there as thought you were planning on going a different route...
I must admit the M25 & M23 was a bit tedious, but then it was all about the atmosphere.
Brighton was buzzing; loads of bikes, trade stalls and a lot of scooters too!
Had a good ride home which took longer that usual, but worth it as I avoided the motorways.
A good day all round. I'll post some pics later when I get time.  ;)

Hi Tom. My gen 1 thou has been playing up for several months; starting issues and the engine cutting out at speed...

I checked and changed virtually everything before having the Datatool alarm removed the other month. This solved the issues for a while...

But recently my starting nemesis reared its head again!!! The pickup coil you mentioned is somthing I've not investigated...

Cheers for the pointer Tom, I'll let you know how I get on... I'll also check the wiring again, cheers Chris...

Jase ;-)

I fitted mine this weekend... It didn't make any differance to the starting, but it has made the engine and throttle response so much smoother.
The downside I found is a slight lack of X factor at the lower end... and it doesn't pop and rumble as much when slowing down off the throttle...
I'll live with it for a while (getting out when the weather dries up a bit). I might change it back; however it does make it feel a bit like a brand new bike at the moment...
