Title: Rear brake caliper
Post by: Fergus on 25 February 2016, 08:46:35 am
Hi All,
I know this has probably be done to death but I've had a good look at other post and can't find any definitive answer...I
stripped the rear caliper last night to check condition and clean up crude etc. One piston is fairly sized and seals and piston are bad in the other one there is also a good bit of corrosion around seal groves. My question is will any Blue spot rear caliper fit or is it just ones from FZS1000? are rear blue spot calipers from Yamaha all the same fitment?
Thanks in advance
Fergus

Only the FZS1000 and late models XJR1300 blue spots will fit with the minimum amount of modification.

I think RMT (Richard Tindall) has one for sale at the mo.  Contact him on here or via the facebook page.

I've fitted an R1 rear blue spot, had to use the fzs and the R1 brackets and tig them together. It works, but it's quite involved if you haven't got the facilities.

Blue spot from the 1000 fits. Slight filing a bit of the standard bracket but that's it. I'm sure there is a sticky on here about it. Only thing is the brake line is probably best changed. It fits but sits at a bad angle. I have not changed mine yet but will do shortly.
