Fuel Prices
« on: 19 April 2012, 11:34:43 am »
I tend to buy Shell petrol to collect their "Pluspoints"-which is something Ive done since the days when I was buying 50-100 Litres Diesel per day. My local garage (Birmingham) is charging 141.9 pence per Litre today. Was just wondering if this varies around the Uk? How much are other "Foccers" being stung?

Yes, 141.9p is what I'm paying for a litre plus a few Nectar points at the "cheap" stations on my route to work.
I miscalculated the fuel remaining in my car the other day, the Micra has a pitiful range once the reserve light comes on, and I had to buy some at Alfold in W.Sussex at 145.9p.

Paying 141.9 too. Must add that I'm purposely using Shell as am getting good results with their 'Fuelsave' petrol. The Fazer goes onto reserve at 197/200 miles rather than 180 miles on the same commuting route I've used for years. So I'm roughly saving the price of a gallon every four fill-ups.

Filled the car up at 139.8 in Glasgow the other night.

Usually paying 142 ish here by the coast.

Spare a thought for those in remote areas, I paid the best part of 140 a litre to fill the car up in Durness a couple of years ago.  I hate to think what they pay today.

Currently just outside Strasbourg, for comparison it's  €1.70 (£1.40) here for petrol & €1.40 (£1.15!!) for diesel.

I drove past a garage in kimbolton a few days ago and the sign said 152.3p for both unleaded and diesel!
Needless to say I carried on...

Most places on East Devon seem to be 1.43 - 1.45 at the moment - including supermarkets. Interestingly, although the price of a tin of baked beans is probably the same at Tescos from Glasgow to Plymouth, the price of a litre of sunflower oil follows the price of diesel and varies greatly around the country.
I wonder why they do that?
(actually I know the answer because I run my car on sunflower oil)
