That looks like a tax disc holder attached to his head.

That's what I thought.  Must be so that you can quickly check and make sure it hasn't expired.  :)

You don't need a lift to do a fork service, just a jack and stands to hold the front up.

I've done it a couple of times at home and agree 2-3 hours to do it all.   If you only want to change the oil (and not change seals) it's even easier as you just remove the top of the fork, empty the oil out and refill with new oil.  Personally, if you're bothering to remove the forks I'd to the lot at once.

If the clutch wont disengage properly, go for the cable.
If the clutch slips underload, go for a new clutch.

Both of these can occur from poor adjustment on the cable, so try adjusting (at the engine end) it before spending out on new clutches.  If it can't be adjusted, I don't know if there's an easy way to know if it's the cable or clutches that need replacing.

No, it wasn't flat until the plug fell out.  If I hadn't seen it happening I wouldn't have believed it myself.

It wasn't a recent plug (used for a few 100 miles or more) and hadn't had any problems.  My only thoughts on it were perhaps the lubrication they put on the plugs to help fit them made it easier to slide out and it was a hot day, with the plug in direct sunlight.   Either way, it was an eye opener and changed my view on them.
I fitted a new plug and rode 100 miles home without issue, but bought all the kit for a patch repair that day.

Just to add to this, I wasn't happy with how tricky it was to fit the crafty plugger style fix, so went for stop N go mushrooms and was very impressed with how easy they are to fit.
I was in the camp of if its fitted and not going down then why remove it, but on a hot day (thankfully when parked) I saw the mushroom drop back into the tyre of it's own accord.

Now I treat them as a temp repair to get home and then do a proper check and if appropriate fit a proper plug/patch from the inside.

That's in a different browser, which has a cached logon.  I don't want to use it (Firefox) anymore, because it keeps hanging.  Trying to logon on Chrome which is failing.

I'm trying to login to this forum on a different browser.  I've tried all the different login boxes I can find, but they all go to page : http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?action=login2   which shows message 'Your session timed out while posting. Please go back and try again.'

Anyone know how to get past this?

I went for one of these.  Nice and compact for storage, with JIS, Pozi and flat in the kit:

FZS600 Fazer / Foxeye sidelight bulbs
« on: 09 May 2018, 01:14:14 pm »
I've checked the Haynes manual, but it only talks about the boxeye sidelight  :(

1.  Do you have to remove the fairing infill panels to access these bulbs, or is there another way?

2. What bulbs are they?

TIA

Sounds to me like you need adjust all the screws up (or down - I don't know which) to get them back in contact with the idle adjuster.

Start with the middle one, the adjust each side to align to that.

Has it broken through the clear coat?  If not you should be able to get away with polishing it out.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: An easy one I expect...forks re-assembling
« on: 12 April 2018, 12:21:56 pm »
It's very easy to jam the upper and lower together.  I think I put the damper/lower bolt on before adding the seals. Don't know if that helps or not.

A number of times I had to go back to the vice and hold the lower whilst yanking on the upper to release it.

I also think I only did the bottom bolt up loosely (but enough to seal the oil) until the springs were fitted, then did the final tightening at the end.

Is the cable new or used? If used, how old?

HID conversions will fail the new MOT regulations.

The doctor asked if any of my family suffer from mental health issues.

I said, "No, they all seem to enjoy it".

Buy a cheap measuring jug, like you would use in the kitchen - typically 1ltr in size.

Measure the oil as it goes in. If you put in the amount is says in the manual then you shouldn't overfill.  If you are worried, put a bit less in and then check the levels as you add a bit more.

Discs are about 2.4mm.

I've got a spare pair of discs I picked up and never used, that I don't need any more.  They measure about 3.8mm.  Make me an offer if you're interested.

Got a nail in it  :'(

So did I, picked it up last Wednesday.    Currently running with a Plug'N'Go to keep me mobile, but I've ordered the bits I need to do a proper patch/plug repair from the inside.

wurth time serts job done they are about the best about only take a couple of hours to do them all

I looked at those, then went and bought a cheaper alternative (Silverline threaded inserts from Amazon).

Was a piece of cake to fit and has done the job really well.  I was able to drill, tap, fit the insert, fit the disc and then remove and replace the wheel on the bike in about 45mins.   :D
