General / Re: Speed limit dual carriageway question?
« on: 27 April 2012, 10:19:58 pm »
I could be well off the mark as its more years than I care to remember since i had to pick up the Highway Code.

But I always thought a dual carriageway was 70 so long as it had a Barrier central reservation.

If not its a 60.

Thoughts.. am I right or just senile or could be a little from each column I guess..... :rollin

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Mirrors
« on: 24 April 2012, 08:34:39 pm »
What can be done about my mirrors.
I'm not the smallest chap out there
6ft 1 and 17st.
But the mirrors are the worst i've come across on any bike i've owned.
It's my 6th bike.
Are there ways to extend my own or are there longer yamaha mirrors I can buy.
Its a 55 plate Gen 1

Any help welcomed, apart from that i'm well chuffed with the bike
It drags my arse up the road with ease.

Have you won the lottery or something.

We used to have a Yaris it was an 05 plate had it from new 1.4 diesel brill on fuel but accelerated like a slug.

Got a Honda Civic 2.2 diesel now goes like a rocket, but pretty cack on fuel.

Hi peeps,

Got a 55 Gen1 thats now looking sweet after alot of hard graft.

I will post so pic's shortly.

The big letdown is the seat its in good condition no rips and not out of shape

But it just looks weathered and is letting my sweet newly sprayed gun metal grey ride down.

Any suggestions on cleaners or polish perhaps

Or do I just bite the bullet and get a new seat or cover.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi all,

I've been a cheapskate and bought a really shitty cheap belly pan off flea bay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320879182832?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I'm having it colour coded so not overly worried.

However after offering it up to the bike it dosen't seem to be a snug fit and there are no brackets with it albeit a couple of recess holes with no bolts.

i'm guessing a start would be if you can identify what make of pan it is.

Any help will be appreciated

Cheers

Hi I've got an 05 Gen1 that's done 32k. Mine changes as sweet as as a nut like the day it rolled off the production line.
So I would say it's not mileage related.
Unless its been ridden like a Tw*T.

I would suggest taking it back as you bought it from a dealer & if they tell you its age or mileage related tell em its a load of old guff.

You could always name & shame the dealership here to give you an idea if anyone else has had problems with them.

Many thanks for the offer Paul but I took Fazerider up on his link and bought a set from JPK-Fastners.

Hopefully be here soon and I might  have her back up and running next week.

Picked an awesome colour like a real dark metallic grey almost a graphite grey.

The panels are very striking now .

Quite excited, just the wheels to do.

Hi all ,

1st time poster.

Got a 2005 55 last of the Gen1 Fazer 1000's.

Had it 2 years but never been completely happy with it.

I bought it for an absolute song at £1750 but it was rough when I had it.

The bloke who had it before me had tried to turn into the "rat look" whatever that is, it had been sprayed a matt black that looked terrible had all the stickers and mirrors removed and filled in.

As these bikes are bulletproof I thought i'd tinker with it and get it back up to standard.

There was nothing actually wrong with the bike it was just abused unloved and very weathered.

Anyway i've stripped it right down and i'm in the process of a full respray and overhaul.

A full engine service, new exup valve and cables and she runs like a different bike (we are now starting to bond lol)

However a more pressing issue I've chewed up the allen key bolts on the rear disc stripping the wheels down to be sprayed

I cant seem to find replacements anywhere, anyone got any suggestions

I will post some pics once done as i don't want to jump the gun

But I recon about another 2-3 weeks. If I can get the disc bolts...

Cheers
