hi all just brought a new clutch cable took the old one off put the new one on no tension , any ideas

Sorry to be glib but have you connected both ends?
There is an adjuster at both ends, the one on the engine is for taking the majority of slack out and the one on the bars is for fine adjustment, thats how I look at it anyway.

Is the sprocket cover seated 100%? You sure it's the correct cable? Did you take that long push rod out by any chance?
