Help my boy has taken to coming down stairs in the middle of the night 4AM ish   
 he is not realy awake but also not sleep , Its not realy a problem when he walks around up stairs but we dont want him going down stairs
 
I am trying to find a pir senor with a remote sounder box !1 but two things
One, it must have a volume control  , Two, it must be battery powered for the senor at least
 
 we have tried a few other things such as pressure pads  but it works for s short while but even in his half awake state he gets around them
I have searched google , maplins and a few other places but with nothing realy suitable .
 
any help would be great ! thank you

What about a child gate on the top of the stairs. The travel ones can be fitted in seconds without any fittings in the walls or Bannister

Thanks for the ideas guys ! none of them came up when i searched !   door chimes ? who'd of guessed !    What about a child gate on the top of the stairs. The travel ones can be fitted in seconds without any fittings in the walls or Bannister  yes we have this but he's nearly 8 yrs old and  half asleep he can undo it or climb over !

More serious side, whys he going downstairs.  Might be better to put whatever he is after upstairs so he doesn't have to.

Why not use a web cam in "Motion sensor mode"?   With an online SMS service it will send you a text...also good for when you go on holiday.


Or use an Android app like this one to send a text to another phone

rack bolts on all the downstairs doors  ;-)  good security too.
Opinions are like A**holes, Everyone has one.  Some people seem to have more than one though which is a bit odd.
