Sargent seat for fz1
« on: 04 July 2014, 08:46:44 am »
Had my sargent seat turn up yesterday, feels like a plank after the OE one to be honest, but I finished this weeks job yesterday so got today to try it out. Btw didn't think I would survive the week, was unbelievably hot in the fens at warboys...laying bricks in direct sunshine every day, nearly cooked myself..drank about a gallon of cordial a day...

Won it on eBay..was£142 including a cover for my knackered pillion seat ( it flew off on the -a47) so I thought it was a good opportunity to get some gel inserts innit for the missus.
Money's ok building for a living but I'll never be rich. This week dug and concreted a footing, then laid over 1000 bricks ( all level work as it was a 9 inch curving wall in Flemish garden wall bond), then repaired the adjacent wall and topped the lot in tile creasings and ridge tile copings..very labour intensive, took me four days and a charged £650 labour. Bear in mind stuff like I gotta run a van, outlay for stuff like that mixer was £250, disc cutter with a diamond blade £700 etc etc..
Still love being me own bloke, couldn't work for anyone else been doing this too long, but it ain't easy, especially now I'm older. Knackered today lol...

Ok bud...this one looks good, if a little broad in the beam...it will look better once the rear pad is covered to match, but I won't do that until I'm sure I wanna keep the seat.

Cans a cheat mate..was e bay again, hundred quid second hand, But it's a BOS carbon fibre with a yosh metal badge also of eBay. Great can though, pukka quality and not too loud..I really like the way it has the bracket screwed into it too instead of those bloody horrible bands..

Ogri48, if you ever fancy a busman's holiday out here in sunny spain (test that sargent seat) I am sure my Mrs could find you a wall or two to build lol, do you do rendering? I've even got me own cement mixer lol
I had a sargent seat on my Z1000SX and to be honest it was 100% improvement than the stck seat.
I do find the the stock seat on the FZ1 comfy enough though and I am nearly 66.
In April I road the bike down from Kilmarnock to Benissa Costa Blanca approx 2500 miles.
The last day did 867 odd miles, I was still able to go from full tank to empty have a bit of a stretch and get back to it.

i have just finished my D,I,Y seat pad. I did 50 miles the other night,it was better than the original,,odly i managed with the original until now ok,,but lately i been noticing i was inching foward to the tank,as the seat slopes too much forward.

I will post up the making of mine.

Do me own labouring....Christ I ain't seen a hoddie for years..do they still exist? Ida thought with health and safety as it is blokes ain't allowed up a ladder with 14 bricks on their shoulder anymore, but I could be wrong. I did enough of it as an apprentice, buggered if I'd touch one now. Two gloves to load out, one to lay, Right handed, just usE a glove on me picky uppy hand, them Ibstocks are like glass when your pulling them off a brick stack all day

And whilst it was probably my favourite hobby as a younger man,  I ain't banged one out myself for years now, have gotta very enthusiastic and healthily sex drived up woman who sorts out that side of things...

Right i'm in.....ill do the labouring and the BBQ.....it'll have to be during my scheduled 2 weeks off though......i also like SanMiguel.......i dont have wheelbarrow on my driving licence but coz its spain that wont matter........hey lew how big is this wall....no more than 10m long i hope.

Ogri...make your own seat like slimwilly....he's even got a rubber ring in his one for his piles & it doubles up as a martial arts punch mitt or a kids trampoline depending on his situation :b .

My seat isn't too good either and is purported to be a gel seat......woooooooo..........well i dunno what gel they used...maybe hair gel but it is rock solid....then again could just be the shock and i dont think any seat would overcome that at the moment......it does hav FZ1 on it though which is cool....just no good for my arse....& im also forced forward onto the tank.

Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
