Wish I'd had one of those when the spring in mine let go.
Would have saved me nine bent inlet valves :'(
Its better to ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake.

Looks interesting, but how do you set the correct tension?

Ticking sound eh... sounds familiar :-(
Better check my tensioner this evening...

I'll put my name down for one of these please - any ideas on cost / when the first batch will be created?

tbh i have heard of three failing in as many years and thats just the ones on here - the springs fail or they stick
as i said this is a prototype going to shorten the rod as to long and fettle it a bit

The Haynes manual says something like - pop the top off and use a flat head screwdriver to check that the piston (which is threaded) moves back and forth smoothly. Replace the sealing washer when finished checking. The task is marked as 'four spanners' which means it is challenging.

It seems to me like it relies on a spring to automagically take care of things.
In reality, if it failed or got stuck, it could be curtains for the engine. devilsyam's adjuster would need to be checked periodically, but removes the possibility of the engine automagically lunching itself.

@ Joe 43

Totaly agree.

If it moves and it wears out check it periodally, regardless of whether it's self adjusting.

So, being a bit thick here, how do you access the piston?

if they sell they sell if not i still have mine and they fit the r1's as well early uns

they will be about 40 quid when done but wont be for a while as this as i keep saying is just the prototype
