For Sale & Wanted / Gen 1 Fazer 1000 bits
« on: 01 September 2015, 03:19:49 pm »
Thought I would offer these spares to the foccers before eBaying them.

Forks with yokes, they are in perfect condition with no pitting or leaks, all the adjusters are free. However the stem is missing due to it having been used on my R1 fork conversion. £120
Supersprox tri-metal rear sprocket, brand new in box, standard 44 tooth. £25
Standard rear shock in excellent condition no pitting or leaks, still has gas pressure, an underrated item in my opinion. £15
Hyperpro spring for above shock good bit harder than standard, a few scratches due to fitting £15
Hagon front fork progressive spring kit, about 10% harder than stock, comes with fluid and instructions never used. £25
Pair of standard rear indicators £10
Front mudguard, excellent condition £20
All above parts are from a 2002 model
Would prefer buyer collects from West Yorkshire, or could post at buyers expense. Phone 07989380888 or 01484 530441

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Fender extender
« on: 03 December 2013, 10:16:55 am »
Just fettled my exhaust down pipes and re sprayed the front of the engine on my Gen 1, looks mint.I want to keep it this way so thinking of fitting a fender extender, the problem is the bike has an R1 front end, think its a 99 mudguard. Cant seem to find one to fit. Anyone else done this mod? and will the extra drag affect performance? especially when doing wheelies.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Exup theory
« on: 07 May 2012, 08:47:06 pm »
The following theory was expounded following the consumption of several pints of real ale (Stella) in my local hostelry. The exup valve causes back pressure at low (sub 5000) rpm engine speeds, this in turn prevents unburnt fuel from exiting the exhaust due to valve overlap. At high rpm there is no time for the incoming mixture to get to the exhaust valve. This is the reason for the exceptionally good fuel consumption of my Gen 1, and a good reason for not removing the exup. Any comments most welcome.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Mirrors with built in indicators
« on: 08 February 2012, 08:33:39 pm »
Has anyone tried fitting mirrors with built in indicators to a Gen 1? I have seen these on a few modern bikes & think they look good. This of course would leave some nasty looking holes in the fairing, which is one more problem to overcome. I'm running out of mods to do now & need another project. So if anyone knows of any mirrors that fit i would be grateful for the info.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / R1 forks/centre stand
« on: 22 December 2011, 10:00:34 pm »
Thought i was getting weaker with age. I was having difficulty getting my gen 1 on the centre stand, after about a month of struggling i realised that the R1 forks were the problem, with the front end sitting 20mm lower than stock it makes it much harder to pull the bike back on to the stand. Problem solved by rolling the front wheel on to a 20mm thick piece of wood prior to attempting the act. Luckily i always use the sidestand when out of the garage.
On a different subject, and i realise this will be heresy to some foccers, i have been looking at the frame and thinking it looks a bit archaic. Got to wondering what alloy beam frame i could fit, guess an R1 would fit everything else on the bike. As one of my friends pointed out "why don't you just buy an R1 take the fairing off and put some high bars on" it's got me thinking.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Full Monty
« on: 19 October 2011, 06:01:56 pm »
I am about to get an Ivans carb kit for my Gen 1. Bit confused about this full monty people keep refering to, is this a different kit or is it the same kit with mods done to the airbox, filter, & intake rubbers. I want extract the max performance from the bike, but being a Yorkshireman dont want to compromise the excellent fuel consumption. The bike is fitted with a Beowulf legal can. Any advice appreciated.
