End to End trip
« on: 31 July 2013, 07:06:59 pm »
Hey all,

So in a fit of madness, i've agreed to do the journey from John 'o Groats to Lands End starting the 25th August for a week, almost 2000 miles round trip! We are staying in B&B's though so that we don't have to carry a tent around in case the trusted british weather is completely S*it.

So, any advice? what will keep my arse from aching? What's best to pack? Any prep advice? The mrs wants an intercomm  :eek  (I can't hear the traffic love...)

The usual stuff.

I'll certainly be taking plenty of pics as we go around.

Just over 300 miles per day, spread it over say 10 hours loads of stops and you'll have no probs at all, std seat should be fine.
Ride in waterproofs, saves having to pack them or put them on if it starts to rain.
As I said in an earlier post today, I did 1000 miles in less than 24 hrs on a C90 in May so you'll do it easy, enjoy the ride.

Have a read here at the trip I did with some mates.

You may wonder why it's called Sugar and Spice... Because that's mainly what we ate on the ride.
Some say that he eats habanero chilli peppers dipped in oil of capsaicin for extra bite and that his pyjamas are made from Nomex. All we know is, he's called Ad the Bad

So just arrived back from my first big tour and what an experience it was! We covered 1926 miles door to door, and the only motorways used were the ones around Glasgow and Manchester.

Some fantastic sights, and whoever said it always rains in Scotland was wrong as the weather was fantastic. I thoroughly recommend taking a tour around the highlands.

If I can work out how to do it, I've got a copy of the route maps somewhere in case anyone was interested in where we went. My dad had one of the tomtom riders and it records the entire thing.

So now I need to find inspiration for next years tour, a round trip of 1926 can get you a long way through Europe!

Yes pictures are always good, when I get my computer back (on the mrs' iPad at the mo) I'll pop them on!
