disappointed!
« on: 02 February 2013, 04:23:46 pm »
Just been on a bit of a ride through Lancashire on my box eye (bald tyre on the fz1). I must have passed 30-40 bikers on the roads, and out of that, and no more than 1/3 returned my nod! What happened to the 'brotherhood' of the biker?? A sad day indeed for 'the fold'

I did see about 3 other Fazers out though. A silver box eye two up at Glassson dock, a silver thou gen 1, and another black box eye at devil's bridge. A good days ride spoilt by ignorant riders, and my Speedo stopped working about 20 miles from home. Bugger!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

I have noticed that as well, I commute and maybe 25% of people return my nod (

At this time of the year, if you nod, you let cold air in down your neck. :'(

In the S/West we nod all the time. :D
+8c today. :)

Well if you ever see a silver FZS600 with a tubby looking chap on top then it may well be me, feel free to say hello.

Today I did a proper tour, up the M1/A1 from the Midlands to the North East, across the A66 to the Lake district, then back down the M6 to Derby. 325 miles. Knackered now but in a good way.

Not very many bikers out, but I'd say 50% returned my greeting.

I always like to give folks a nod, I guess you sometimes feel a little snubbed when ignored, but it's a nice tradition and I intend to keep it up.

I notice some folks - and often me too - prefer to return the gesture with a slight wave of the fingers with hands still on bars, which can often go unnoticed.

Andy

Last time I went touring round Scotland I got some of the best greetings ever. Pretty much EVERY biker gave a proper wave of the hand, pillions too! It really took me back!

As for doing 300+ miles andybesy, that's an awesome rideout!

I went out for 60 miles +4c ,never used the heated grips for a while as battery needed the power, too long as my fingies froze. :o

I have some good textile clothing for cold, goes ontop of my normal clothes so body is hot.

Never saw any bikes, went down the Wye valley,or up i suppose.

i always nod to fellow bikers, but it could  be that those who don't nod back just don't know about the bikers nod. but don't take it to heart just enjoy your ride.

Been up and around Devils Bridge , Hawes , Caton many times and very few bikers nod in return up there ,guessing its just the sheer quantity of bikers that use those rds

Had a ride out yesterday and today, had nods returned by everyone, though I think I instigated most of them 8) I nodded at a 125 rider in town and he seemed surprised but quite chuffed! I make the effort to nod at all on 2 wheels cos we're all one family imo - Except chavvy kids on scooters that is, they're too busy ragging their machines and pulling their jeans down to show their underwear (wonder if they'd still do that if they knew how that look originated)
Even got a guy on a big hog to nod back. O0 Good cpl days out, missed it!

I mostly don't get nods from Monday to Friday commuting but at the weekend I usually get a few and always nod myself.
