Easy peasy.
When can you cross a solid white line in the middle of the road?

Easy... when your wither drunk or texting? Or when you drive a hot hatch and the car in front of you is doing less than 10mph over the speed limit 🤔

It really is not far off the mark though with some of the questions

And yet:

The 2019/20 pass rate is 47.7%*, which means just over half of all people who sit their Theory Test fail it.!!  :eek

I think that's because while there are plenty of questions like the one fazersharp mentioned (I think I genuinely had that one on my bike theory 😅) there are also lots of either obscure ones about road signs you never see in real life or ones that have very similar answers that seem like they are almost deliberately designed to trip you up 🤔

As with most DVLA related things its all BS and not relevant to actual real world driving. I've been driving around 15 years but I still couldn't tell you what colour cats eyes are anywhere on a road 🤷‍♂️ tbh I think they've removed most of them from the roads now anyway 🙄

Is it me of has the general standard of driving gotten noticeably worse in the last 6 months..?

Its not just the last 6 months, I think its been declining for years. Millions of vehicles out on the roads these days without tax/insurance/mot/licence

I'm sorry but I just can't believe that's true. With all the ANPR camera about these days and the DVLAs  ability to check and fine you digitally I find it hard to believe there are too many on the road compared to the late 80s early 90s.
My old man for one was driving since before I was born but never took his test until I was around 10, and he wasn't you only one. Back then we all knew plenty of people that just drove without anything as you had to be caught by the police and physically checked out.
These days the only people that drive about like that are the delinquent criminals and foreigners who pretend they have no clue.

I think (as with most things) you are all getting older and therefore everything that comes after you isn't as good in your opinion (just like the music)😉 but the truth being I doubt many of you would pass a modern driving test without extra training 😜

See i think it's perfectly reasonable in built up areas/villages etc but out on the open road is shouldn't matter.
Also I think its unfair to stop the bikes then record them are a certain rpm,  if they're going to have this test then I think they should be like a speed camera where it records you going past then captures your plate. The idea being that when you come to a built up you knock the bike up into a higher gear and quietly cruise through then you can drop a few and rev the tits off of it once your back out on the open road.
That way you only get caught when your being stupid or inconsiderate (like speeding)

What a plonker

I was thinking that must have been bloody cold, but then I saw the date was back in May!

Let's be fair at 180mph the wind chill alone would make it freezing regardless of the time of year 🥶🥶

Remember the end of May was *really* hot, hitting a maximum of something like 28 degrees!

With a good fairing, most of that would be deflected and given he was doing 180mph, he was probably on a Blackbird, Busa or a ZZR 1400 which are all designed to keep the wind off you at that speed.

Cbr1000rr apparently and also owns a MT-09.... not bad for a 19year old who (even if he tried to be legal ) isn't old enough to get a license for either of those 😒
Not stolen either, he actually owned the bikes just without license or insurance so makes you wonder how long he's been riding about?

I've long said its easy enough to ride a bike without a license as long as its insured (by someone with one) and you ride it sensibly.
I've never been pulled over 🤷‍♂️

Also I've been hit by flying insects on exposed skin at 40/50 and its hurt enough to make me pull over, can you imagine bee hitting you in the chest (or worse your throat!) at 180 with no protection 🤯

Little W*nkers on mopeds!! I was in the car today driving down one of our main roads, its sort of a 30mph duel carriageway (except one lane either side is a bus lane) and is separated by a central reservation, well anyway there were 2 kids on mopeds coming the opposite way who decided last minute to perform a U-turn by riding over the pedestrian crossing right in front of me! Then as I followed them down the road one of them actually got his phone out of his pocket and started to text while he was riding!! He was all over the road, frequently driftng in and out of the bus lane then when the upcoming traffic lights turned amber they both gunned it (with no hope of making them in time) and managed to run the light at a main junction a good 5 seconds after it had turn red 🤯🤯
To top it all off they were both wearing trainers and tracksuit bottoms, some kind of puffer jacket type things and no gloves.
God forbid they had been hit by a car ... they wouldn't have stood a chance and worse some poor innocent driver would have had to deal with the guilt of disabling or possibly killing a 16 year old through no fault of their own.
Not only that their parents would have been the first one at the front of the lynch mob blaming car drivers for not looking out for bikers

I know the CBT system has it benefits but I honestly think its time they scrapped it and forced these young kids to do some kind of lessons/test before they are let loose on the road. 2 hours in a carpark the 3 hours on the road just seems like madness when you think about it 😳😳

"You cannot ride with 2 of your mates"..... what a load of BS. Perfectly legal for you to be riding along a popular route with 3 strangers behind you but if you know them then its illegal 🙄 is it illegal if i happen to be in a traffic jam with other cars containing people I know too??
Honestly these pedantic and pathetic rules are why most people dont adhere to them!

Was in my local supermarket this morning and I was totally dismayed by the amount of people mainly women who were lifting items from the shelves , looking at them and replacing them, do they know that there's a friggin epidemic at the moment--stop doing this you friggin eejits, just stop it.

What gets me is that there are sanitizing stations on the way in to supermarkets but nothing on the way out.

Thats because they have no reason to look after you at that point. By then you've already spent your money and they couldn't care less what you do 🙄

Haha I think anyone saying Trump is more racist than Biden needs to have a little look into Bidens past! I'd argue he's much more of an actual Racist than Trump is. Trump is all talk, Biden has actually helped implement laws that harm black people for decades

He's a little example

"Biden is a long-standing supporter of ‘penal populism’, the discounted idea that a greater police presence and harsher prison sentences equals less crime. The political manifestation of these beliefs has been realised in many acts and legislations that Biden has authored or sponsored. In the 1980s Biden supported multiple Anti Drug Abuse Acts that disproportionately heightened imprisonment rates among black communities for drug offences. The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (which Biden authored) dedicated billions of dollars for prisons and increased numbers of police and is widely considered as crucial in instigating the shift towards the mass incarceration of black men in the United States"

And just to be clear I think they are both asshats and I do truly feel sorry for the American people that these two were their only options..... what a sorry state to be in 😔

Best price for something half-decent (hopefully) seems to be Beowulf (Stainless, oval, 380mm) for £170 including link pipe, stand rest etc.

Before you make a final decision just have a look on here...

http://www.aa16.co.uk/store/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=51F4018451&rnd=1673804&rrc=N&affl=&cip=86.17.64.92&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=175&cat=Yamaha&catstr=HOME:Yamaha

He's local to me and hand makes them to whatever spec you like. You can have anything from plain stainless to a full race gp stubby.
I can vouch for the quality as I've had 2 off of him in the past. One of the nice things about it being a small independent business is the fact you can ring him and talk on the phone about exactly what you want.
As I say, worth a look at least 👍

To be honest looking at the individual states results there should have to be some kind of coalition. Literally every single state is 50/50!

Tbh the most important factor with an end can is the look. None of them are going to change the performance by much so just go with the one you think looks the best. Sounds can be different with each brand but as long as your planning on getting a road legal baffled one then that just becomes a matter of taste

I've had an Akra, Delkavic, A16 (and stock) cans in the past and now have a Mivv. All of them were great end cans at the time and all sounded great, the only difference was price.
Some people even get on with the cheap Chinese ones although I have seen plenty of issues with them in the past in terms of the "carbon" finish eroding and flaking off and some of the steel parts going rusty

I can highly recommend Wezmoto lines. I replaced my aged HEL ones with them in the summer. You wouldn't tell the difference in terms of finish and quality but they are only £60 for the full set!

Nobody in their right minds would ride it anyways. Problem being that it may be worth 20-30k in the crate but you can probably half that at least if you put it together and got it on the road. As BBROWN1664 says... its clearly a museum piece

Same situation as the USA at a guess 😵😵

Imo too many people use a 'hidden disability' as an excuse just purely because they don't want to wear one. They've already proven it doesn't affect your oxygen levels so you can breathe just fine through them, it may not be as comfortable but thats the same for everyone wearing one.
Plus being 'exempt' from wearing a mask doesn't make you exempt from catching the virus and spreading it. So if you really are too ill to wear one then you shouldn't be going into crowded public places.... simple as.

And my wife (like Grahams) is severely asthmatic and the pair of us have spent many a night in the hospital with her on a ventilator followed by weeks of steroids after catching a mild chest infection, but as she works at the hospital she still manages to wear a mask for her full 12 shifts without bother. During the first wave she was even forced to wear those horrendous air tight ones that left bruising all over her face. But its part of the job so she puts up with it

Its not the best but at the minute it's a necessity and the more people try to bend the rules and make excuses the longer this BS is going to go on for 😔😔

Have got to change the clutch cable on my gen2 ,just wondered if anyone had done this job and can tell me if it's easy/hard anything awkward? appreciate the info. :thumbup

I've not changed mine yet (I really need too) but I've adjusted it at the lower end and that was bad enough so I can imagine a swap is going to be a bit of a pain in the arse 😬

I think it looks nice enough but I really can't see it selling very well, I'm not sure there's really any demand for this kind of bike anymore. Especially not from an Italian brand that has only has 1 dealership per country haha
I used to love the old aprilias but not so much if a fan these days. I've often contemplated a Tuono but just can't get on with a V4
But you give me and Rs250 any day of the week 🤩

B. Spend the money replacing to 2 seemly fine bearings just for the sake of it to see if that fixes things
This is a f*** load cheaper than trying to repair/replace and engine if the bearings let go.
@Gnasher does Dude have to buy genuine or will these bearings (like most bearings) have a bearing code of them so he can get a set from a reputable bearing supplier?

All quality bearings will have a code on them, usually on the thrust face of the inner or outer race.  Yamaha don't make bearings they'll buy in normally SKF, in fact there's not that many quality bearing manufacturers.

All but impossible to get the bearings from yamaha anyway. They are all on back order...anyone would think it was a common problem 🙄
Can get the outer one from fowlers but the inner one i may have to take down to my local bearing company.

But as you can see from the pics and videos, theu are both fine? Both operate correctly, no noises or resistance??
So I'm baffled as it sounds like it should be the bearings

As mentioned earlier these noises can be notoriously difficult to find at times.  Have you checked the airbox intake along it's whole length, air filter not torn, throttle body rubbers to head and to the bodies? Failing that, the clutch has a few bearings, oil and water pump drive chain or one of the pumps, or the gear box.

If you pull the clutch in does the noise change, on the main stand and in gear let the clutch out (be careful) increase the revs, is it still there better worse, same?

I've checked the airbox and filter thoroughly, haven't looked at the throttle bodies at all.
I did ponder clutch but noise is nowhere near that area and pulling the clutch lever (either in gear or out) has no effect of it what so ever

Every bit of research I do on the web points to the generator, most people seem to hear this noise first then find out theirs has gone to pieces.

https://youtu.be/mIaMQU9vg4Q

Thats an example of an R1 making the exact same noise but his outer bearing was completely shattered unlike mine

My only thoughts now are to either A. Ignore it or B. Spend the money replacing to 2 seemly fine bearings just for the sake of it to see if that fixes things 🤷‍♂️

From memory, the stub axle is a push fit, gently heat the casing and it should drop out.  It's normally the generator shaft bearing that fails in my experience, that the one in engine case.

https://www.r1-forum.com/threads/starter-clutch-bearing-install.568473/

If the front cover bearing has gone you will be able to feel and hear it.

But as you can see from the pics and videos, theu are both fine? Both operate correctly, no noises or resistance??
So I'm baffled as it sounds like it should be the bearings 🤷‍♂️

https://www.r1-forum.com/threads/new-noise.571770/

So after googled more about 'generator bearing noise' I came across this on the R1 forum. Thats exactly how mine sounds (also same engine) and he problem was the bearing in the cover was completely shattered!? But mine is perfectly fine?? But I suppose it's probably worth me changing it just to eliminate it from the list of possibilities?

My next question (probably for Gnasher haha) is how to get it out? I undid the the stator removed all of the bolts on the outside of the cover but it seems to be behind another layer of metal which wouldn't move? I couldn't for the life of me find a way to get to it 🤷‍♂️
