indeed. And a certain amount of bespoke-ness about them as well, so tailored to what you want from a colour/feature point of view. a type 3 (which goes up the tank) with the gel extra padding is probably highly carressive on the butt-cheeks :lol

if you dont mind splashing the cash, you might want to think about changing the seat altogether?

topsellerie do one which goes up the tank more at the front, but its a pricey solution:

I took the bike a good run today, went to Luss/Arrochar/Crianlarich/Rowardennan:

Needless to say, by the time I got home the bike looked quite cruddy, so I gave it a good wash, and then went over the top of my HydrO2 Sealant with some Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze I had been meaning to try for a while. DEAR GOD this stuff gives a wet look. very good product, although the durability is meant to be poor (Meguiars do state this hence why its a "Show Car" Glaze, not meant for ultra durability):

Your Suggestions and How you can help / Re: Photo Problem
« on: 21 July 2013, 07:59:45 pm »
I assume you are hosting the images on here and not on an image hosting site like photobucket etc?

you should try that. its a little more faff, but it lets me upload multiple files, and it takes some of the load of the server on here :)

Have you tried clearing your internet cache and reuploading the images again? I assume the images have overloaded the cache on your computer, which might explain how it doesnt work on one PC, but does the other (not in your case though Nick, Im referring to red98 there of course)

tweaked the idle control valve as my idle was low, rebalanced my carbs, and reset my TPS. then rode it 100 miles to Rowardennan, and then back to balloch before going to Luss and arrochar.

Hm the problem is in the shops most of the pairs I've seen have been around the £150 mark, and I just don't have that money at the moment. So trying before buying is a real ballache, as much as I'd prefer it. Suppose I can try a known brand in the shops then scour ebay for them cheap..

exactly what i did with my RST jacket. Saw it/tried it on in Hein Gericke, the bought online, saved about £60.

My textile 2 piece suit was cheap, Richa brand from ebay, and aside form the sweat problem noted above, its been ok really for the money (as I had to buy a big size and am a shortarse though, its too long for me and the knee pads are at my shins right enough, but thats my fault for being a fat foccer and not really a slight on the garment :lol

steam cleaner would be ideal, cheap handheld ones are available now and clean well.

alternatively, dry cleaning may be a viable option (depending on the style etc)

watch out for the material left behind when you DO remove the thermal lining!!

I've got a pair of cheap textile trousers and jacket, which are OK (especially in the winter), however, in the summer when you take the thermal lining out,  and only have boxers/shorts on the bottom underneath and a tshirt on top. where the trousers touch bare skin i.e. bottoms of legs and forearms, the material is that sort of shiny waterproof stuff, and it draws the sweat right out of you - its terrible.

Its so bad that putting a longsleeve T shirt on instead of short sleeved makes it much cooler as this material isnt touching the skin (im sure you know the stuff im talking about).

So if your in a shop looking, get that thermal lining out and have a feel :)

My claim to fame is being on first-name terms with Michael Buerk. Met him sailing in Tukey (he has a boat out there too). A lovely chap!!

I bet every time you speak to him you get that bloody theme tune in your head though :lol

yes. fitted those clear resistors, and there was still very slight bouncing, but it was much removed from that video.

Its worthy of  note to those considering this that the Philips screwdriver is indeed a #2, and needs to be at least about 200mm, it also needs to have a fairly low profile shank, as I tried with a magnetic snap on one with variable heads, and that wouldnt fit down the gap!

I also tried it with a halfords pro screwdriver, which went down ok, but was so tight in the gaps that i couldnt get the angle required to get onto the screw correctly (which risks rounding it). in the end it was an el cheapo screwriver ive had for about 5-6 years which has a very narrow shank which turned out to be the perfect tool for the job, typical!

On the up-side, the bike seems much better now, it is revving much more responsively and smoothly all the way through the revs, the clutch action seems slightly smoother (that may be in the mind though?).

The idle is still very slightly lumpy, so I think I will change the plugs/oil filter/air filter/oil, and then balance the cars again, this should solve my issues I would have thought, I need to do it anyway as im not sure when it was last done.

Thanks everyone for their help, a good purchase is the carbtune, its a nice bit of kit

Did you put the restrictors in?
It's the piece of clear tube with a tiny bore. You need to cut it into 4 and put a piece in each of the 4 Carbtune hoses.

ah... that will be why then. perhaps reading the instructions WOULD have been a benefit :lol

Cheers buddy :)

My wee Suzuki VL 125 I just got shot of:

A 1980 Suzuki DR400 I bought in 2008 as a resto project. I bought it for £30 like this:

And sold it a few months ago after having it lie for a few years unridden like this:

Thats all Ive got on the comp, would need to scan in the pics of my older bikes like my 1979 Honda CB50, and 1992 Yamaha RXS100, nothing spectacular though.

No famous people I dont think, never seen any anyway, river city is filmed about half a mile from my house though, but none of the "stars" live here, because I live in a shithole :lol

Mines are huge though, so I'm not slagging anyone. I must have about 1" of chicken strip either side of my Tyre :o ill get there one day I'm sure..no rush and all that, main thing is to enjoy it I say :)

can the 2 line system be fitted to the OEM reservoir then, or do you need to modify it somehow?

It's such a simple job to do its well worth buying the carb tune (its also nice to have that sense of personal satisfaction doing a job instead of paying a mechanic!)
Biggest give away is the revs at idle, if everything is perfectly synced the needle will stay virtually static at whatever revs the idle is set at, if they're out of balance the needle will wobble and revs will fluctuate of their own accord, the worse the balancing the bigger the fluctuations.

hmm. you have more or less summed up what happens with mine. a bit wobbly at idle. looks like the credit card will need to brace itself for the hit for a carbtune :lol

And yes, I dont mind doing the job myself, I'm an engineer to trade :)
