Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / So you helpful crewe of foccers, advice please
« on: 17 February 2013, 05:12:17 pm »
My 2007-8  FZ1s is being a pain, it seems to decide not to start when it is hot, i went to the garage today with a very low level of fuel, pulled up at the pump, the twats made me take my helmet off :(

And then it would not start, nor push and bump it, so AA came an hour later and after a few spins it fired up, no probs.

I took it home, stopped it , restarted it and went for a 30 mile spin,

came home and stopped it,, 5 minutes later it wont start, spins over very good..

Any ideas, is there a known occurance.  helpful advice welcome :lol

General / Re: Credit cards
« on: 17 February 2013, 05:07:15 pm »
This could be a bit overkill for a tour but I usually take 2 on holiday. One stays in my wallet and one usually in the room safe, that way if I ever get mugged / drunk / forgetful I always have backup to obtain cash.

A bit like insurance really - you hope you never need it, but bloody useful if you do.

Not over kill.
We had a bit of a funny farm moment last year when me and my mate rode two bikes to Barcelona Moto GP,

First i let my credit card fly out of my tank bag, was using it for the tolls, we were a bit shifty on toll releases as both of us went through the barrier lift each time, two for one, so it was a bit wacky races to get going, if he went to fast then the barrrier would come down before i got going :'(

Anyway i had cash for me so i would be ok,,buuuuttttttt then my mate lost his cash and credit card :'( :eek

Yes he was fucked :lol

ANyway i had a reserve credit card,,,bloody good job too :)   pair of plonkers we were.

So my advice is take a plan "A" , plan "B" and also a plan "C" , we needed it.It is your insurance to getting home.

So you all will be familiar with the roadside cafe van near Brecon, in the mountains on the Merthyr road A 470 ! the one with the amazing veiws over the hills, and then there is the corner cafe in ,ummm Llandovery, always a huge amount of bikes here.

And Aber prom, beach cafe shack, all a good ride from here, Near Hereford, oh and the cafe at crossgates comes to mind, good for an indoor sitdown brekkie, full of Midland bikers entering Wales.

I read somewhere that during the Vietnam war there were decomposing bodies of dead soldiers from both sides lay around the jungle, it was noted that the American bodies did not decompose for at least two weeks longer than the locals due to the fact of the Americans diet with food preservatives and chemicals in them.

You will not push the wind over your head, it will just be lifted to your shoulders and be very noisey, so keep a low screen and ride in clean air.

What bike are you riding? if its a gen 2 FZ1s  then the light does come on early, too early , and there is a few more litres in there, should go to 150 miles easy.

General / Tom tom web site info for france
« on: 12 February 2013, 03:46:00 pm »
It seems that Tomtom will change your "camera locations " to "danger areas" in France to get past the law there.

Is the TomTom Speed Camera service legal?
Updated: 08/02/2013 11.38 AM
Back to support home page
Most governments and local authorities agree with us that the TomTom Speed Camera service makes driving safer. At TomTom we comply with (local) legislation and where necessary adapt our practice, as explained below.
Changes to the law in France
Since decree n°2012-3 was introduced on 3 January 2012 it has been illegal to be warned about the position of fixed or mobile speed cameras while you are driving in France. If your TomTom navigation device has the Speed Camera service and you continue to use the service, you risk a fine of up to €1500.New update: TomTom Speed Camera service becomes Danger Zones in France
TomTom had a meeting with the Road Safety Ministry to clarify the situation regarding new and upcoming legislation. As a result, TomTom is introducing a 100% compliant Danger Zones service available in a free download for compatible products.
