General / ear plugs - do you / don't you & why ?
« on: 18 May 2012, 09:59:09 pm »
do you use ear plugs ?
if so, why ?
and vice versa :)
always used them myself as i value my hearing (being an amateur musician) but would love to hear other peoples opinions.

General / Re: first ride, where to go ?
« on: 18 May 2012, 09:52:04 pm »
just got back after my first ride out.
not an ideal night for it, but as it was astronomy society meeting and i got the bike yesterday, i couldn't wait !
about 30 miles there and 50 back.
my fingers are numb, my feet are frozen, but i have the biggest / silliest grin on my face you can imagine ! :D

thanks for the replies :)
can't wait to get out on two wheels again !
i'll probably take a ride out to scarborough as a start and maybe then onto dalby forest area.
Well Enchiladas .. (are you sure about that spelling ? )
However .. I recon you would be well advised to stick to quiet roads you know on your first day .. Also you might pull over whenever you can.  Stop, get off, put the bike on the stand, walk around it twice, get back on and then ride on.
If as you say you have been 'away from bikes' for any length of time .. getting used to handling the bike is going to be just as important as riding it .. for the first day at least .. just in my opinion  :rolleyes of course.   Enjoy Yourself Buddy  :lol
good tips there thanks
and my user name is right (enceladus). it's one of saturns moons (subtle hint there to a hobby of mine :) )

the 614 is ok, but with it being the main road and usually quite busy, there isn't much chance to have a "play".
as an alternative i'd suggest the following from howden. (hope this works!)
some nice twisty bits, some good straights, and normally not that busy.
just watch out for a tractor or two !

passed my test ages ago, but have been off the road bike wise for about 10 years.
previously had a suzuki gs500 as a commuter hack, but ridden a few fazers and loved them, so as soon as i was in a more stable financial (and storage) position, i ordered my 600.
hopefully will take delivery this week or early next.

gonna have a good ride round as soon as i get my bike to try and find the best roads :)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Seat Height - Adjusting ?
« on: 07 May 2012, 05:48:05 pm »
thanks for the tip.
probably a 1/2" reduction will do the job.
i can get both feet on the floor but not fully, so an extra 1/2" could do the trick :)
