Day out on the mighty thou yesterday. A day trip to Yorkshire, Yes you read that right and if you dont know me i live in south bucks 30 ish miles west of London...left home at 6 am and headed north, A blast on the motorway M40/M25/M1 just to get a few miles under by belt and get away from the traffic strangling south. Switched to the A1M , Then onto the A15 with the plan of stopping at Lincoln for breakfast ...Weather had other idea`s, A heavy shower changed my plans so i pulled into the next service station.getting low on fuel anyway, filled up with E10 and grabbed what i could from the small snack selection, Rode on further and down a small country lane and found shelter under some trees, Had about half an hour eating breakfast and watching the clouds pass and then back on the bike, That was the last rain i would see all day. had a ride through Lincoln but no time to stop and wander. I`am heading for the Humber bridge. Used this crossing many times but its still impressive every time, about 1 ish miles from shore to shore so a slow ride over admiring the view stopping both sides to take some pictures. Then onto my destination for today...SPURN HEAD...Wanted to see this place for a while now and i wasn`t disappointed. Up until 2013 you were able to ride to the end but sadly not any more due to higher than usual tides and storms which washed the road away, Time for a walk, 6 mile round trip and well worth the effort. 3.00pm by the time i got back to the bike, a short ride into Hull and a bite to eat and its a non stop ride back home stopping in Grantham for fuel. I did stop at some services on the A1 for fuel but £1.52 for a litre .....£1.30 in Granthan 10 mins down the road Got in at 9.30 pm with 475 miles for the day, enjoyed every mile

Hi VINNYB, The price i paid includes postage at £7, I bought the YTX14-BS so about the same price, did`nt think of going to Halfords, only a mile from me and i could of popped in on the way home tomorrow. if the battery lasts as long as my original one on the 600 i`ll be more than happy with what i have paid...out with a few mates on Saturday so hope it turns up in time

Just ordered the new battery on the TAYNA website, lots to choose from with prices starting at £25.99. i paid £86.93 for the YUASA ,most expensive battery on the list, They list the motobatt for £54.99 so hopefully paying a bit more will result in a longer life. Lots of good feedback on the site including speedy delivery so lets see how quick speedy is, be good to get out on the bike this weekend...

Thanks for all your comments/replies foccers ...looks like i have just been unlucky, last time out on the bike i got caught in heavy rain, had about an hours ride home and it didn`t stop, waterproofs were useless soaked to the skin by the time i got in,put the bike away wet and left it for 3/4 days before i discovered the dead battery, had to move the bike this morning as i needed the garage space for another project, jumped the bike and it started easy as it always dose but the clocks were playing games, normal one minute and then nothing, rev, speed, clock, miles all blank, bike runs fine whilst this is going on so guess the rain has got into a connector or two... will be ordering a Yuasa shortly, had one one the 600 which lasted about 19 years, replaced with the same and has been fine, GNASHER thanks for the link for TAYNA. That looks like a bargain to me. I paid £75 for the motobatt 2 years ago

Not having much luck with my bikes lately...Went to use the thou for work the other morning and the batteries flat. Stuck it on charge which worked but a couple of start-ups and its flat again ...Battery is only 2 years old, charged iam on 13v but soon drops to 10v not enough to start and run...going to need a new battery, Motobatt looks to be the best buy ATM but not if they only last 2 years....Anyone else rum Motobatt ? Had any problems ?

mighty thou is now back on the road ...engine runs good but i think will benefit from a carb balance, clutch is a bit snatchy pulling away, not sure how long the engine was standing for but perhaps the plates have dried out a bit...once the weather improves i will get out for a good long run and see if it improves,if not i have a set of new friction plates ready to go in...happy so far with the engine and its great to get the thou back on the road
