speedo stopped working so removed wheel and found it broken
thought i would give the legs a lick of paint and snapped all the fender bolts (17 yr oxidization sucks)
removed entire forks to remove bolts and paint
making a new bracket to fit my koso style speedo and get the dominator headlight wired up nice and tidy
need a jigsaw to cut the ally bracket nicely so doing a few little jobs tommorow untill i can get to screwfix
will try and remember to take some photos tommorow.

FZS600 Fazer / speedo sensor testing ???
« on: 03 March 2017, 01:18:50 pm »
ok so speedo stopped working the other day and obviously plays with timing as engine turned to shit afterwards
engine became fine later and rev counter giving the 4k speed sensor error
front off this morning and found the rotator is cracked and loose (new one getting ordered)
i spin the rotator in the sensor at high speed and getting no reading
does anyone know how to test these using a multimeter and the three pins???
(beware removing front mudguard - even after wd40 last night all 4 still broke lol)

in west cumbria they are replacing expansion joints on a bridge (the little gaps at each end)
its going to cost £500,000 and take nine weeks to cut out to strips of tarmac rebolt in plates and retarmac
they have 30mph average speed cameras at the bridge but only for 100yds before you get there each side
then no-one accelerates to the NSL once they get to the signs - thank god bikes are slim and the cameras are forward facing :evil

only had my fazer 2 weeks - on phone to insurance saying all standard while cleaning the brackets for streetfighter headlights lol

my insurance think my gsx1100 chop is completly standard - in reality the engine casing and lower half of cradle came from the factory lol
tell them nothing - most of the time they dont look at it
but do not use an email connected to an open facebook cause they occasionly look which cost me 30 to have it refused lol

finally got round to stickerbombing the rear center panel to cover the hole untill i can do it properly or replace
and given the seat a leather treatment as it dried out after taking it swimming in the recent floods
-no joking check out

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Fazer 600 Link Pipe
« on: 24 February 2017, 11:28:39 pm »
+graham53 --- they baffled the link pipe ?? are they retarded all that does is create a resonance back pressure increase in a way that only the engine gets it, making it harder to breathe, when a can holds it back it has some deadening in the exhaust packing which reduces it aswell as creating a lower back pressure which means less back pressure to the engine (ooh i already see the physics arguements coming out of this one) - check out exhaust resonance in 4 stroke engines to get really baffled (no pun intended) by science.

a reg/rec should not cause issues in this respect - give me a minute here
a reg rec is there to supply power to battery, try a voltage meter you can see, would tell you if anything is wrong there as voltage would drop from 14.5ish to a sub 12v at the problem rev range
i am suffering this same problem and working through it periodicly

DO NOT try using the tesco high octane fuel or pro-milage stuff whatever its called
(actually if someone can and say its shit aswell) as it changed my power characteristics for the worse

i will be going back to standard octane fuel ASAP or maybe some from asda as it is all different (remember it isnt for power its for milage)
i found using standard fuel it is easy enough to learn the rev ranges- remember the fazer is known as a great commuter bike for couriors and the reasons are there to see 4k-7k works great for town 8.5/9k + quick acceleration like a powerband for overtaking on major roads - these are not R6's remember

im with you totaly i want more power and a more usable smooth power range but there are lots of things to consider
- looking at a new 2nd hand exhaust system so will let you know - unless everyone wants to chip in a £1 or two and i will go down to fuel exhaust head quarters and try one out and blag a discount for foc-u users lol (they are actually really close and i want to see there warehouse lol)

its a shame its a welded on subframe really - with my 87 fz600 (not fz6) i was able to buy a subframe then weld up a holding jig and play away with the arse end untill it had tail i wanted
just realised how kinky that sounded but thats bondage 101 learn to weld up a holding cage while you play with the arse end lol

you can spend a lot of money and get nowhere with this one.
your best off looking for a new slip on with a removable baffle

i have been annoyed by this recently (2 weeks into owning a fzs) - and i have read that its just a common drop off in power in that area
do not add tesco higher octane fuel as it seems to get worse (trying hotter plugs soon with hi oc fuel though)
after two weeks i learned the rev range and where i need to be dropping it a peg or two for very quick over takes
3.5k - 7k = town quick //// 8.5+k = racing the back roads and ovetaking like a nutter
the tesco crap hioc fuel i added made things worse at top end
- - i say this before i do my normal new bike carb strip oil and plub change, but i dont see it making much differance

this is all IMO stuff but im 33, riding my own bikes since i was 10ish and around race teams since i was born
check out disorderly punk on youtube for a laugh.

carters is pretty much my yamaha look
all my bikes have been cruisers apart from my yams that always become streetfighters
house move is forcing a sale of current chop so bought a fzs as a hack
when funds allow a new cruiser the fzs is getting fully stripped and going like carters
-could do with a standard subframe to make a universal jig me thinks

FZS600 Fazer / Re: sprocket options
« on: 22 February 2017, 10:21:45 pm »
had a float about and found a few options for undrilled discs (centre bore only) which are always an option
ebay has +/-   1+2 so there are options there for easy wheelie and ridable
- just got used to the 7k flat spot (2 power zones) switched to tesco high octane fuel which was a mistake
(dies early at high rpm)   switching back to normal octane asap
going to try hi oc and hot plugs to see if it works better
but i dont want hi oc all the time

FZS600 Fazer / sprocket options
« on: 12 February 2017, 12:03:24 am »
some of us here may wish to change sprockets for many reason
mpg on tour = -teeth on rear (+front)
acceleration =  +teeth on rear (-front)
stunters = crazy+ teeth on the rear
of course teeth on front is 1 on front equivalent to 3 on arse
anyone know of suppliers for sprockets for fzs6 that can create a a stunt bike
my fzs600 needs a new sprocket and chain set so might as as well stunt her.
motovlog meetup/rally coming soon

after buying her yesterday i spent this morning removing damaged fairing and modifying the bent fairing bracket to only hold speedo
then added dominator headlights
got to pick up some windicators tommorow and wait for my koso style speedo and some aluminium plate before i perminantly mount a speedo on the trees
-have to adjust the clutch so its in a better posistion as previous owner had it activating right against the bars (really annoying)

« on: 11 February 2017, 03:26:16 am »
starter motors are pretty simple things to rebuild (apart from the bushes on some motors) can be worth taking the motor out and diret connect to a battery using jump leads - then remove the cover off the motor and give it a blast with air (if you can) and a spray with contact cleaner
if it still doesnt work and you are going to buy a replacement then give dismantling and rebuilding the old motor a go while waiting for replacement
its always a good thing to know for the future (check the bearings while your in there)

im not worth trusting yet - i only bought my damaged fazer yesterday but its nearly a streetfighter already lol
