:lol It's a beautiful thing called banter...i'm a Welshman working in England have had my fair share of it especially in the world cup.....looking forward to work on Monday
Not to be taken too seriously of course :D
-
banter is one thing.....nobody who plays rugby at that level is a loser....and no im not english im manx.......
-
:z
They lost, ergo 'loser'....quite simple.
I guess it's still a little sore right now, I get it so i'll shut up now as i'd be hurting too
-
why wld it be hurting? lol like i said im NOT english im MANX......anyway just fancied an arguement :rollin
well done wales, what saw the game was close for a while
-
MANX lol....yeah sure was a close game though. My arse hasn't stopped twitching yet! :lol
-
I was just saying to my son before the game. how sad the welsh folk are. The only thing they enjoy is beating England at rugby. They didnt even build the wonderful castles. They just have a constant big chip on their shoulders about being welsh.
-
Wales deserved it they scored more points.
But boyos you didn't have make it hard for your selves against a very inexperinced english side.
They really did make you look very ordinary, and i don't think you'll beat the French on that evidence.
-

Nah, we enjoy beating France at rugby too. Don't tell me that Wales v England games only mean something extra to the Welsh, it's the classic rivalry that both teams revel in.
We have a chip on our shoulders about being Welsh???...aren't you proud to be English then?......Duh
And what the hell have castles got to do with anything LMAO! :lol :lol
Skippernick - I think England actually made us look very ordinary so well done to them, they finally showed up this tournament and played with passion and skill. They did well to smother Mike Phillips, their defence was solid and they did their homework and stopped us from playing.
I fancy Wales to beat France at the Millenium stadium though
-
Caernarfon, beaumaris, conwy all fine examples and no visible crumbling unlike the England rugby team today :)
-
Excuse me for nit picking :z
but I think you will find that those castles are Normans ;)
-
Excuse me for nit picking ....Normans aren't English
-
Fair result - but nowhere near as good a game as the Irish Welsh one. Wales looked nervous and gave away a lot of territory. Not sure why there is so much 'banter' between the English and Welsh - seemed to me to be a lot of southern hemisphere players on the pitch for home nation games so not sure its about home pride at all now :(
-

I think they also enjoy a good sing song to be fair :-)

You got the Irony then Trev :rollin
-
Nope I am contemplating Scotland vs France and noting the French defence may be as good as their bloody castles sadly...however as a Scot of Irish descent who lives in England and France, has a Welsh Christian name and currently working in Scotland...all I can say is 'Bliddy Italians' :pokefun
-
I think England gave a good account of themselves against the World Cup semi finalists. After the dire game against Italy where we had to come back from behind I thought it was a good performance. For a youngish side they will improve.
A one off piece of individual skill won it for Wales.
England were soooo close to a try at the end. One first viewing I thought it was a try. If Walsh had said 'any reason why I cannot award a try?' and not 'try yes or no?' to the TMO it would have been a try. A tense and enjoyable game.
-
King Edward built the castles nearly 200 years after the Normans
-
Is Andy Robinson Related to King Edward? and I am talking about the potato..
-
Seems to me the game turned on a dodgy knock on that Wales got away with......... :z
-
King Edward built the castles nearly 200 years after the Normans
and Long Shanks spoke which language ?? :rolleyes
-
well it was not the run away win some folk predicted. TBH england gave away a crucial penalty and missed kicks. From my angle the last minute try did look as if it had gone down...all in all IMO a very lucky win for wales rather than a victory well won.
For us the spectators...it was a very enjoyable match.

Edward 1 (Not be confused with the earlier Edward the Confessor) would have spoken Norman French - Middle English (Possibly) and almost certainly Latin, he would have been catholic hence the latin. Norman French was the Language of court long after Hastings and William the Conqueror's reign...(Brought about in no small part by the death of Edward the Confessor -and arguably a fruitloop - built pretty cathedrals though)
The castles were built as nothing other than a symbol of authority over the Principality and as a bolt hole just in case the Celts 'Did a Wallace' ...The true story of Wallace incidentally couldn't be further from the blue painted Australian if it tried. He was thought to be a 'second son' of gentry...actually a commoner and a beer thief! Impressive how he manipulated people to get to where he did and most assuredly a competent leader of men. Some would argue more lucky than skillful...but Edward was terrified of him...basically when it took 5 'quality soldiers' to one yokel to subdue an uprising and this while many of the Scottish nobles were fighting in Flanders (Although at that time it's debatable what side they would appear on from day to day as evidenced by the infamous treaty of Irvine)....shall I go on?...oh ok then...motorbikes
-
But Nobody expected the Spanish Inqusition ;)
-
An excellent tense game that could have gone either way - England did better than expected so can take something away from the game but losing will still hurt - I think they deserved a draw. Some fantastic try saving tackles on both sides and unfortunate that it was eventually won by a Lawes error - admittedly followed by a bit of individual Welsh brilliance.
One refereeing query - should the game not have gone back to the outstanding England penalty that had been awarded when the Strettle try was not allowed? The penalty had been given within the 80 mins and no advantage had accrued so surely the game should have gone back to it?
One will never know what might have happened then . . .
-
Glad you said that because I also thought it at the time as well.
As for the knock on, the ref's mike picked up the ref saying he thought it was off his heeeeeed.
With around 10-15 to go, there was also the Welsh player knocking the ball into touch with his hand after a chip towards the corner.
You win some you lose some.
-
With regards to going back for the penalty, he was playing advantage and advantage would have over as England did get over the try line albeit without scoring so it was either a try or game over.
-
Watched the France game last night - Jings, if only we could play like that for the whole game! Still some silly mistakes though.
And yet another serious injury - I was sure it was a broken or very badly dislocated ankle when I saw the replay.
-
I am keeping shtum :D
-
Stayed in a pub in Wales last year to see family, Wales beat France in Rugby, they didnt stop drinking singing till the early hours, hate to of been there if they lost.
Well done Wales
-
I would just lik eto highlight that England thrashed Wales 33-0 at Twickenham on Saturday. I notice the Welsh keep very quiet about that though. So what if it was the ladies it's still a 6 Nations thrashing which is more than the Welsh men can claim. :D

I think everyone kept quiet about that as ladies rugby is shite. What's the point???....it'll never be as exciting as mainstream rugby as women don't have the spacial awareness needed to show real quality in a field game, aren't as strong or physical so it's just like an under-supported, dumbed down version of proper rugby.
Oh, and they can't park either! :pokefun
I'll await the abuse from the laaaaaydies :lurk
-
Ok, we stuffed them in the football a short time ago...... :lol
-
not so bothered bout this game as the real game is been played at Twickenham on 28th April!!
-
Haha, loving the "BANTER" but its was a great game, shame i was working throughout....
i have to say that the England v Wales games are always my favourite, great bit of rivallary and i have many many Welsh friends that i can have a lot of "banter" with, We all knew Wales would win against the puppies of the England Team
But well, we'll have you all next time :rolleyes ( i have to live in dream)
Oh! HAPPY ST DAVIDS DAY TOO ;)
-
..at least we beat the French
-
and if the the french beat the welsh pleaseeeee... and we beat ireland we'll retain the trophy, alot to ask but an outside chance.
Oh the banter then. :)
-
I'm saying nowt....oops. :-X :-[

Not just beat - you got to overcome nearly a 40 point difference as well. Not sure England have scored 40 points all tournament have they ;-)

Nope but i am hoping, but now after hearing Ferris arrogant england tag, which to me is a arrogant statement anyway, i want to beat the irish for the pleasure of it. Bit like the leicester coach saying england can't win or only play not to loose which is surely the point of sport???, don't hear him no though. :)
-
we are well capable of beating the french, if we do then 3 grand slams since 2005, how many dd England have in their golden era of Carling ad Wilko? go to admit they were a damn good team tat ground you down and deserved their world cup. Good years ahead, wales and england have young teams that promise t entertain!

:D
-
Well done Wales, can't rely on the French to do anything, England beat the irish by 21 points all they had to do was win by 20 odd points.
:lol

Has he won the hubcap stealing cup?
-
Mind you didn't the team win it not that Kiwi git?
-
All we have to do is remind the Welsh of the legitimate try England scored at Twickenham that wasn't given and it would have been a different story.

:'( yes
-
Isn't that bit over to the west part of England then?
-
All we have to do is remind the Welsh of the legitimate try England scored at Twickenham that wasn't given and it would have been a different story.
First of all, it wasn't legitimate so it's irrelavent. He didn't have clear downward pressure on the ball so end of story there.
Secondly, even if the TMO got it wrong and ended up awarding England the try you'd still have to knock it over the posts from as far to the side as possible.
It's all about the GRAND SLAM baby :D
-
Has he won the hubcap stealing cup?
No surprise a Jock not recognising the Triple Crown.........
-
Forget not recognising a triple wotsit...I am having trouble identifying some of the people round here who keeps changing their board name!....I know it's a Welsh name Gareth but just get over the embarassment ...I have to suffer a Welsh name too....

Why are you getting cross and justifying the TMO decision, do you feel in your heart of hearts that maybe it was the wrong decision. :pokefun :pokefun
