Thanks again. So to sum up either the Fazer Thou or XJR calipers can be used with the FZS bracket with minor fettling to the FZS bracket?

Brilliant, just what I needed to know. I thought you could modify the FZS600 bracket to fit the blue spot? Thanks guys.

Download the service manual from here: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?action=downloads;cat=2
The cable routing diagrams are in there.

Ok my mistake on that, but the main point of my question is are all blue spot rear calipers the same from that era late 90s early 2000s?

Thinking of upgrading my rear caliper for a Blue Spot one, my question is does it matter if it comes from an R6, FZS1000, XJR1300 etc or are they all the same caliper? Thanks in advance.

Ok cheers guys, might set them to 2 and see how it goes. Can't check my old carbs as all the mixture screws have been snapped off by some doofus.

FZS600 Fazer / Base Carb Settings For Air/Fuel Mixture

Hi,
Got a set of second hand carbs that I have stripped and had them ultrasonic cleaned.
I'm in the process of rebuilding them, can anyone tell me or point me in the right direction, I need info for the base settings for the mixture screws?
I think I've seen somewhere that 2.5 turns out for a standard bike with standard jets but I cant find where I saw it!
Thanks in advance.

Shingles.  It's really getting ma goat.
Had that nasty cold that was going roond before Christmas - what a stoater it wis - though I managed to struggle through without calling in sick to work.  Just got over it before the new year.  Did notice we had loads of folks off with it.  But then maybe my determination to soldier on is why I now have shingles.
Started feeling odd on new years day.  Just knackered - falling asleep and for unusally long periods of time.  Then the pain started.  Seems to be in my throat, ear and rhs of my face.  Saw the doc on the 4th.  I've had this before so I figured what was happening.  Halfway through the course of anti-virals.

The weekend was absolute hell there.  Still foccing hellish.  Really foccing getting my goat. :(

Had shingles myself, not nice! Get well soon dude  :thumbup

Glad to hear things are improving for you.
A friend of mine had it a few years ago, she was fully recovered after about 5-6 months and has been OK since.
Hope things get much better for you soon, the general consensus seems to be about 4-6 months.

I'm on the lookout for a set of carbs from a 600 Boxeye, not sure if a set of Foxeye ones will fit but if they do then I'd consider those too.
Idle Air Mixture Screws must move freely and not be seized or snapped, I bought a set recently where it was assured to me they were fine but turned out they were seized and 3 of them had snapped heads.
Please PM with details and pictures.
Thanks in advance.

Mine isn't a rattle, it sounds like a bearing droning noise when a bearing is knackered.
I'll go through all the above though just to rule things out, thanks.

Mine doesn't have a fender extender on but I have tried taking the mudguard off because I thought the same thing that it could be wind rush between the tyre and the mudguard, but it made no difference. I'll get to the bottom of it one day  :lol

I have a noise too, like a bearing drone seemingly coming from the front of the bike.
I've replaced the wheel bearings, checked and greased the speedo drive, swapped tyres, even did the rear wheel bearings and sprocket carrier bearing as I thought the noise might be 'travelling' through the bike. All to no avail. I've learnt to live with it now!

Changed plugs, oil & filter, air filter and new coolant ready for the colder weather setting in.
Runs a bit better but has always been lumpy on idle and hesitates a bit sometimes when setting off so took carbs off for a strip and clean.
Pilot jets were a little blocked so decided to go through them with a fine toothed comb and then chuck them in my mates sonic cleaner..... until I came to remove the idle air screws!
One has snapped on me and the other 3 are seized solid.
Bike is now off the road for the foreseeable future being so close to Christmas I don't have the cash to buy some 2nd hand carbs to refurbish.
Ah Bugger  :'(

Shame the bulbs didn't work darrsi but it was worth a try.
I think I'm going to buy another headlight unit and retrofit some decent projector lenses into them.
The amount of money and time I've put into bulbs over the past year is unreal, I think the technology for LED headlight bulbs in reflector lenses isn't quite there yet and also I'm pissing into the wind here because it's the actual headlight and reflector unit on the bike which is badly designed so I reckon I'm going for projectors next.
Wish me luck!  :lol

It can be a minefield, I've had a mixture of cheap bulbs and better ones without much success.
Then I found a place called Classic Car LED's. They make their own LED's which are designed for use in older classic cars, especially older classic cars with reflector headlights.
Read the reviews for their H1 and H4 bulbs, bright white light with a clear sharp cut off on the beam pattern, most of the bulbs I've tried before don't have this cut off, they just scatter the light everywhere.
Granted they are more expensive, but as we only need one H1 and one H4 bulb per bike, if you can split it with a mate or another member then it's not so bad, or keep a spare of each!
I've yet to buy some headlight bulbs for my bike but I've had them in my previous car and they were impressive, I'd recommend them all day long.
I do have their stop/tail bulbs in my fazer and they are very good too.
