New (to me) fazer, few questions
« on: 25 February 2017, 04:05:58 pm »
Just bought a 2001 fazer, have a few qs.

It has a bellypan, rear hugger, full delkevic stainless system, braided front hoses and rack and top box fitted. Its also had the rear caliper changed for one from a fazer 1000. Any other common mods to these?

The previous owner thought it would be a good idea to accesorise a gold bike with blue parts (why, I dont know), so Ill be wanting to change them back to standard(ish). Things like the petrol cap bolts, screen, top yoke nut, sprocket nuts. Best place to source replacements?

The rear left (as youre sitting on the bike) panel has a crack in it. Nothing too bad, but its going to annoy me until I can fix it. Anywhere good to buy replacement panels from, or am I best just keeping an eye on Ebay?

Ive read that the headlights as standard arent much cop, any reccomended mods/parts to improve them.

Last but not least-I noticed the digital odometer/clock display wasnt backlit. Is it supposed to be, and if so, how much of a pain is it to sort?

Im sure therell be more to come once I get it, Ill post some pics when I do

I would say the best mod and only mod left to do now is - you-sat on it- riding it !

Search this forum for the lights.
Yes the clocks should be backlight I would hazard a guess do to all the other mods that the last owner has replaced the bulbs with blue leds and one by one they have failed
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Well the guy buying my Honda is picking it up on Wednesday, so should have the fazer by next weekend. Think the first trip on it will be Halfords for a haynes manual

Check out the downloads section, I think there is manual for your bike in there, save you buying one.

Can't beat a proper manual, grease and computers definitely don't mix.
Loads on Ebay if you wanna save a few quid.

Have to agree with that, I prefer having a proper manual in front of me when Im working. Looking on Ebay, most of them are selling for what Halfords are charging anyway, so might as well get one from there. Plus its another excuse to ride the bike

Sounds like you've got a good bike there fella, all the mods you've listed suggest that it's been well looked after at some point. Loads of info on this website.  :thumbup
