Title: 1997 FZ400 frame swap
Post by: jackson1995 on 11 December 2015, 01:00:51 pm
Hi guys , new too the forum but looking for some help...
I've bought a fz400 pretty cheap and runs very well but ive noticed the head on the frame is tweaked. No other evidence of a crash since the bike is crazy clean , had forks and yokes out... its defiantly the frame.

so I dont have a problem swapping frames , gives me something to do but i cant find a 400 frame! so my question is ....

Will a 1998 600 frame fit.. i know head bearings are different but the engine mount look in the same place but swings are and suspension Im not sure....

Im taking loads of measurements from my bike now so i can go look at this frame.

if anybody knows any problems let me know.I do a fair amount of welding so dont mind some modification to the frame but dont want to go crazy.

thanks guys

As far as I know the 400 and 600 frames are virtually identical the difference being the engine mounts. Where abouts are you as I have a few bare 600 frames if you want to compare?

Use the 600 front mounting bracket if necessary, the rest is the same
