« on: 08 February 2014, 12:08:24 pm »
I've just got one in the post but it doesn't look very long to me...

It's 115cm is that right? It does LOOK right, the bike is in the warehouse at the moment otherwise I'd just offer it up. D:

Firstly does anyone know if the 600 cable fits the 400? I think it does. Also what do I do to fit it please?

Thanks :)

FZS600 Fazer / Fitted new bars, opinions please!
« on: 08 January 2014, 04:01:29 pm »
Not quite finished because I need to get the old bar mounts off but lack a good enough spanner to do it without lunching the nut and I need to get shorter cabling and lines. The black mounts either side of the headlight are for a screen which I took off for this but it will probably go back on. :)

Oh and I have some small round bar end mirrors to fit but ran out of time before it started raining :(

Thoughts? I've never ridden a sport bike before but I am now getting the achy wrists, will I get used to that?

FZS600 Fazer / Coolant change help please
« on: 13 December 2013, 02:53:19 pm »
Hello, me again. I've gotta change the coolant on my 400 and am looking for tips basically. I've done it on cars in the past but never a bike. What's the procedure and where are the bits I wanna play with?

Errr and which coolant do I wanna use? I've found the reservoir and frankly, it looks empty.  :eek

Thanks for any help :)

FZS600 Fazer / Clutch replacement question
« on: 12 December 2013, 07:27:10 pm »
Evening all, I'm going to be replacing the clutch on my 400 using this kit

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FZ-400-4YR1-96-EBC-CK2371-Clutch-Kit-/150696962004?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item23163d27d4

It doesn't have any steel plates inside the box, just the friction plates. Is it fine to just reuse the old steel plates and anti judder spring?

Is the gasket reusable? Or do I need to go and get one?

Also any tips for doing this little job? I've seen this video and it seems fairly strait forward...

Many thanks!! :D

General / Fancy exhaust nuts?
« on: 10 December 2013, 06:18:17 pm »
I've seen a few nice bikes on here and a good amount of them have nice shiny chrome or brass exhaust nuts. I'm going to be fitting my new stainless system in the next day or so but my nuts are minging  :rollin

Is there anywhere I can go to get something nice? I can't see anything on the web apart from ebay and I don't like ebay.

Cheers!

FZS600 Fazer / Odd 1997 FZ400 running issue.
« on: 08 December 2013, 06:51:41 pm »
I put this is the 400 section but this section might be right for what I need :)

My 400 takes a couple of seconds to start usually and when the weather is cold say below 5-6c it will take longer, colder and I may have to bump it. Once the engine is warmed up and ridden for 5 minutes or so it likes to drop a cylinder and then easily cuts out if I try letting it idle. If I stop and switch the engine off for a couple of minutes then restart it, it will fire up easily and given a bit of a rev it seems to clear it out? It then runs on 4 cylinders and generally doesn't give me any hassle or odd behavior for the rest of the ride.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this?

I have changed the spark plugs and it seemed better at the time but the problem is my test day with the bike was a bit warmer so I don't think it would have happened anyway.

Cylinder 3 lead looks like it has a split as it joins the top of the caps, could that have anything to do with it? I've been using plenty of WD40 all over the shop to avoid moisture getting to it.

It will do it on a cold morning but hasn't yet done it on the way home from work, I assume due it the weather being a touch warmer by then.

Can anyone help?

How does the lead join into the cap? As the split I mention might just be the lead coming out? Can I just shove it in or?
