General / Email spam problem
« on: 12 January 2012, 04:36:02 am »
I was gunna post it in the tec section..... but we dont have one anymore :P
So a new focer font of knowlage challange!

For about 2 months now My main email account has been sending out spam emails without me sending them.
(mail.com is the email company i have had that email addy since the mid 90's and brought it back then)
First thing i did was change password, this didnt stop it.
So i then ran a virus check useing Avast on both my home PC and my laptop, both came back clean
changed password again and spam was still being sent.
Since then i have tried AVG, AVAST and norton and i have tried half a dozen malwear type progs to and everything comes back clean.
i have even installed AVG on the android phone to be sure, everything is saying its clean.

I contacted mail.com and affter a few automated replys i got a email saying that i should change password affter checking for virus...... grrr
that seems to be the only reply i can get from them so far affter half a dozen or so emails, all basicly saying its my security letting them in not thiers.

So what more can i do? i have tried to stop them sending out the spam but they just keep getting in and spaming my email list.
its starting to piss friends off to the point many have just spam filtered me and i have to contact them with a diff email.
this isnt a long term fix as i want MY life time email addy back and free from spammers
they main way i tell they have sent mail from my email account is friends telling me or returned mails from no longer active accounts. offten the sent mails dont show up in my sent mails folder, though sometimes they do. odd

Im at my wits end trying to solve it, as you can see with me posting this at 4:30 am and still not slept lol.

General / Xbox hard drive woe's
« on: 06 January 2012, 02:27:16 pm »
Time to tap the foc'er font of knowlage again :P

Had a stroke of luck just affter Xmas, been affter an Xbox 360 for a while but on REALY limited funds so was going to go for a 3 red ring of death one and try to fix it.
Well ended up i found a guy selling a 4gig 1 month old Xbox 360 (slim?) its the new shape anyway. so got that with kinect and half a dozen games £70..... foc'ing bargin of the year!!!
now i know bugger all about the xbox realy but have since found that as its only 4gig thats fine for game saves and a little updates some games get now and then, but i can se that there is much download content avail and it would be nice to have a hard drive.

I thought i could pick up a 60gig Xbox drive for around £15 but its the old Xbox drive and now found out it wont fit the new shape box.
I was then told you can just drop on a USB 2.0 drive so that seemed a good idea untill i googled it and found that its ok for your files like music and vids but cant be used for xbox live downloads or games files.
the new style hard drives are blood expensive for what they are, so a cheap way round it would be good.

So dose anyone know a way to either make a old style xbox drive fit the new style xbox? or some other way to get hard drive space?

i did see this.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HARD-DISK-DRIVE-HDD-Case-MICROSOFT-XBOX-360-Slim-/330659989193?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D4%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5419210287562104962

but the xbox slim they show in the pic dosent look like mine as i just have 1 slot on the front (not including the cd drive tray) and im not sure if it dose what i thought, and thats convert a old xbox drive to fit the new....

i hate tech lol

Oh on a side note whats a realy good RPG ? i played WOW and EQ etc for years on line and love that type of game, anything like that for xbox? i know it wont be masive online side of things but just a good rpg along those lines.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FOCing dead AGAIN!!!!
« on: 29 December 2011, 03:44:41 pm »
SO pissed off right now, Battery is dead once again. thats 6 batterys in 5 years (1 was a replacement for a dodgy one under warrenty)

Every winter the battery dies and wont hold a charge. its perfect all year long can be left for weeks at a time and still start on the button. but yesterday affter a week standing i went to start it and it strugled to start. so on the optimate it went. few hrs later (about 6ish) green light and back on the bike it went.
started fine, then today i go out and its dead as a dodo.
Charging system is all within spec, only drain is the imobaliser which is minamal and isnt a problem all year round.
but every focing year just affter Xmas the battry just dies and wont hold a charge grrrr  :'(

Mostly its gen yam ones i used but have tried others as well and all die at 1 yr old
I know  :'( the bike is kept outside all year round and is ussed all year but is ussed randomly. IE can be ussed every day for a week or so then might be stood for 1-3 weeks when im broke and cant aford fuel, or could be ussed 1 or twice a week for months. its totaly random as its used for fun only and being unemployed meens it gets used when it had fuel lol

just a rant more than anything as there seems to be nothing actualy WRONG with the bike so it must be down to the use it gets. /shrug ARGGGGGG  :'(

General / Focer font of (cooking) knowlage!
« on: 24 November 2011, 10:54:57 pm »
Ok simple one i think but i didnt/dont know the right answer so....

I brought a Cookie mix to make some cookies. the pack has everything i need in other than butter. but i dont use butter i havent had butter for many years, i use a low fat spread that i doubt has more than a passing nod in the rough direction the 2nd cousin twice removed of butter.
So think i can use it in cooking of the said cookies? or do i need to buy a block of butter that i will never use again? :P

over to the chefs out there.

ps its a 39p pack that was on offer in morrisons so im not expecting that much anyway lol

General / New helmet time!
« on: 15 November 2011, 05:45:23 pm »
Well my AVG S4 stealth has finaly started to leak and just getting a bit tatty. had it 4 years now and have got on well with it. been wellfitting and no real issues with it realy.

I also have a spare Caberg flip that i hardly use. its to loud and gets a lot of buffeting for some reason.

I like the idea of Flip's but are they all loud and unaerodymanic?
I also like the idea of Bluetooth built in, but that dose seem to limit the choices on helms.

As im at the NEC on the 27th im gunna take a look around to get an idea on fit and comfort, but what do you guys think about helms? I have a MAX of £250 but would prefer £150
gota look ok and be fairly quiet. blue tooth would be a bonus.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / front brakes
« on: 15 October 2011, 12:46:25 pm »
Well since i was 12 or 13 i have had bikes and in all this time i have NEVER changed brake pads lol.
i have done shoes on older bikers i have striped 2 strokes down to nuts and bolts, replaced brake lines, done a fair amount of work on many bikes and on the whole love to work on the fazer.
So affter going out today to give the bike a once over before next weeks track time i found 1 of the front pads has disintergrated. im 90% sure it happened yesterday as the brakes felt a little off on my ride.

So its about time i finaly faced up to my fear and do what most would think as simple.... change me pads :P
Sadly dont have time to order a set in (£20 for a full front koyo set from busters) so had to get from my local spanner. WOW i forgot how expensive he can sometimes be. £40 for a set of Koyo but i need them for early next week and am off to kent on tuesday so had to get them.

Kinda pissed the pad has gone like this, all the other 3 pads are less than half used and a fair war from the wear marker so i assume the one that fell apart was to.

Got me Haynes manual out and will attempt it later, will be a simple pads out pads in i hope as anything more than that and im gunna strugle. so as i sit and relax before getting ready for lots of swearing i thought i would post here..... for no real reason :P

General / Finaly done it...
« on: 07 October 2011, 07:18:08 pm »
well i have been wanting to do it for many many years but have been unable to.
While i couldnt sleep last night i took the plung (but only in a tiny way lol) and booked myself a 20 min track day taster session at brands hatch  :eek at only £20 it has to be worth a laugh

Finaly for the first time since i was in my teens i am able to get in to full zip together leathers, i actualy have gloves, boots (well kind of) as well so nothing holding me back from giving it a go other than the fear of killing myself or some one else  :lol

roll on the 19th oct 4pm ish for my WHOLE 20 mins taster  :lol

but my finger is also now hovering over the box for a full track day brands on the 31st oct as well but as thats £79 its something i have to see if farther xmas might step forward for :P

General / earplugs
« on: 03 October 2011, 01:17:08 pm »
Apart from a try of earplugs many years ago i have never realy worn them.
but affter picking up a few free packs at the BMF i went for a 220 mile ride on sunday with a pair in. just the cheap yellow type foam ones.

First thing i noticed is wow everything sounds odd. followed by hmmm never heard that sound from the engine before and then spent the next 20 miles not watching the road but just cocking my head to 1 side convinced the bike was missfireing lol. it isnt btw :P

once settled in i found i was running in way to hot on corners and im sure it was because i couldnt hear the revs as clearly and there fore was miss judging speeds. once i got to the half way point i took them out and on the way back found the bike loud and rattly lol but felt better on the ride itself.

So i think from now on i might use plugs on long Mway trips but if out having fun on A / B roads then no way lol.

So what do you guys do about plugs? how many have actualy spent loads on the expensive ones? are they that much better?

Tiny point that i miss is the mark all read button. i know i can do it on areas here but there isnt a base one that hits all areas in 1 go.
i just used to use it to pick up new posts that might interest me or popular ones. right now i need to do it 3-4 times where as before it was once and was blisteringly fast to.

realy doing a kick ass job guys :)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Switch or motor?
« on: 29 June 2011, 05:17:07 pm »
I noticed shortly affter the winter if i was in realy heavy traffic and couldnt be arsed to filter (happens now and then :P ) i got the red temp light pop on, went off again as soon as i got moving or turned engine off.
Also noticed it 3 or 4 times now when on charity runs (only this year, was fine last year) that again in slow or staionary traffic the red warning lamp comes on.
So today i went out a rode slowly round town for 15 mins or so to try to make it happen, sure enough affter a while the red light came on, and cleared as soon as i crept the speed back up.
so tried again and got the red light on, this time i got off the bike and checked the fan.... No fan on !!!
now im 90% sure the fan should be on long before it gets hot enough for the warning light. so i must have a problem.

In my VERY limited electrical knowlage it would seem to me there would be a switch to turn the fan on once it gets to temp "A" and a 2nd or maybe the first is variable to set the light on when the temp hits "B"

so either the switch is faulty or the fan motor itself had died.
but how can i find out what one it is?

PS sadly i doubt i will get many replys as most ppl dont even know this board is running yet lol. DAMN YOU YUKU!!! :P
