There's been some blatant profiteering.
I know the trade paint is better stuff, but that is just their retail price.  Bascially those trade centres, are trade centres, they don't want retail customers. I don't get it.  That the sales assistent wouldn't tell me the trade price was kinda telling.  I just don't get it, you'd think the store manager would have a wee fudge to drop a few quid off for retail punters. Cash flow is cash flow - a sale is a sale.   40 quid and I'd have taken it.  Couldn't get my head round 10 quid a litre though.

I remember building some heavy duty wood stores.  And I wanted them to look good in the garden.  Went into the new hardware supplier that had moved into town.  Asked for a quote for my job lot.  I almost fell over.  I asked - is that the trade price?  Are you trade they asked.  Hey, OK but I'm not here for a tube of silcone or a paint brush, I'm after shit load of wood - I'd like the trade price please.    They weren't interested.  So I told em, I'm off to Jewson (they moved into the town to eat into the Jewson monopoly) and I'll egt the trade price there.

So went to Jewson.  They quoted me like 35% less.  I asked is that trade price?  Yup he said.  Wow I said, looking shocked (and thinking yeah!) No messing about there, they threw in free delivery too to soften the blow.  Not been back to the new place since.  Don't like being taken for a mug.

Dulux trade centres are the last place to go to buy Dulux paint ironically.
There's an independant paint retailer ten miles up the road from me.  They are like an Indy Dulux Trade centre.  I'll maybe try them next time.  No idea what their prices will be like - can't be worse than Dulux.

I too can confirm that Dulux trade centres are the most expensive for paint. But (actual trade paint ) is more expensive because it has more pigment with the idea that it covers in one coat and as time is money it works out more economical for a painter and decorators to pay more for the trade paint. It also can be watered down very well when time is not an issue or watered down for the job at hand.
Whenever I have been in the dulux trade centre they have always given me a trade price - maybe because I am not an argumentative arsehole. They gave me an empty - but plenty left for my use - a black pigment bottle that they use in the mixer machine so I was able to darken my own paint.

Cheers I'll bear that in mind.  Second time I've been in that one, last time I really was stuck and paid, but it was just for 2.5ltrs.  I did wonder if I'm in the wrong Dulux Trade centre.  Will try another, and phone before I roll up.

 Talking of decorating.

Remember those quality 3- or 4-inch heavy duty decorating brushes that were about half an inch thick that you used to get.  Where do you get them these days?

VNA’s mansion has tall ceilings and heavy 1930’s coving – I need a brush that holds loads of paint.  The brush I’m using is over ten years old, but really, I need a new one.  Everything in Screwfix, Toolstation and B&Q is kind of light weight.  Won’t hold much paint.

You could always dip the brush in the tin more often.
Anyway dont you scottish croft owners just chuck a bucket of paint on a sheep and let it run around your one room hovel.

For the ceiling, get yourself a roller and extending handle. I did my girlfriend's room with one of those and it was dead easy!

There was also a paint brush that would go on the extending handle, but I found it was easier to get up on a step ladder to do the coving than try to use the brush to do it.

Paints have changed too over the years. Most are now water based, dry too quickly, and despite claims regarding coverage, require two and sometines three coats to cover and leave a good even finish. For brushes, try Wilkos, ive found them good to use, and not expensive

I predict a win for Trump.

Well called that man :thumbup
Even if he does not win - which I still predict he will. The media and polls got it totally wrong about the size of support for sleepy Jo. If you listened to the MSM fake news you would of thought o'l sleepy would of totally destroyed trump.

Yup got a 12” inch roller frame, 12" rollers, and telescopic extender.  But it won’t do the coving.

Don't see anything there.  Happy with the Harris brushes I get from Screwfix, but just can't find an old fashioned 3 or 4 inch brush that really holds big dollops of paint.

You can still get solvent wood paints.  Though they need two coats (plus undercoat if fresh wood) and 16hrs between coats, but the finish is lovely.

I was right about Trump.  He has declared victory and called for the supreme court to stop the count.  He is a potential dictator.  In doing so he legitimatises Lukashenko, Putin, Xi, Kim Jong-un and so forth.

As for polls, they rely on what people tell them.

On the paint brush subject in my experience, Purdys are the best by far. Expensive, yes, but if you look after them properly they'll give years of service. I've got some that must be 15 years old now, but have always used a brush comb when cleaning them, to keep them in tip top condition.. They'll be pressed into service yet again this weekend.

Last night Trump was talking about how difficult it was for him to deal with loosing.  He sounded as if he was accepting defeat.

Then a few hours later he declares victory and states that he wants to stop the counting, he wanted to deny Americans their right to vote.

Anyway this could take a few days.
