BBrown - You're right of course, there's a baseline price. Even if a barrel of crude comes out of the ground for nothing, the cost of refining, transporting and tax will keep the retail price at around the £1 mark. The only issue I would take is that it's not HMRC that sets the duty rate, it's the government in the shape of the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Couple of things to bear mind when reading that Visordown article: It was based on the old boxeye 600 model. The foxeye has extras (like fully adjustable front suspension) and with a similar fairing looks every bit as good as the 1000 (IMHO) The enormous price difference at new is now much closer of course. Probably no more than £500 difference for similar age and condition. As others have said, it really depends on what you want to do with it. I love my foxeye 600, the ultimate 'all rounder'

If he has any sense at all (he's a footballer !) he'll lie low until his appeal is heard. If he's successful loads of clubs will take him. In the meanwhile, and if his appeal fails, he needs to do something else. As said, plenty of 'ordinary' jobs around.

Well to be fair to them ....... they do have to turn crude oil into petrol. That presumably costs something. Then they have to transport it in big ships and petrol tankers. Take your point about massive volumes though, and doesn't excuse the extra Diesel mark-up.

Fuel Duty, plus the VAT on the Fuel Duty element comes to 69.5p per litre. With Petrol at (say) 110p per litre that leaves 40.5p difference. But that also includes a 20% VAT element, so the fuel company's take is 33.75p. That of course includes production, distribution etc. With the price of crude now down to $55 a barrell (159 litres), that's 22.6p per litre. So margins are tight. However, two things to think of: With the tax on diesel being the same as petrol, why are they charging an extra 10p per litre - an extra 100% profit on the difference between the crude price and the fuel company's take? Diesel is either the same price or much cheaper in Europe. Why do we get aviation fuel surcharges on flights when the oil price goes up, but not refunds when it comes down ?

Jewish people chase money more than anyone else Like ..... All paddys are thick All Scots are mean All black fellas have natural rythmn Are these 'well known facts' too? All a bit pathetic isn't it ? Stereotyping is prejudice. We are all individuals, unclassified. As to 'racist words'. It's the context and intent that are racist.

I'm with VNA on this. Football has had a bad reputation and still needs improving. He should know better and lead by example.

I think what's quite clear, is that the price is not down to the natural market forces of supply and demand. It's a political/commercial weapon, and us poor sods will end up paying whatever we're told to pay ! Hope low prices last until next summer

There is so much insurance fraud these days, they just want to prove a few things: the bike actually existed you owned it you were riding it legally it was a runner otherwise all they have is what you told them when you insured it. Standard stuff. Shouldn't be a problem.

You've had an exhaust on with a baffle in for 9 YEARS and you haven't tried taking the baffle out? Get on it! I'm shocked. I've also got a Speed Triple with a straight through 'Not For Road Use' exhaust. So the Fazer is for quiet days

The listing says 69mm in the Ebay blurb. Just measured my Varta in my 2003 Foxeye and it's 68/69mm. I thought they were all that width. Are you sure you've been given the right one ?

I've had the Fuel exhaust on mine for about 9 years now. Still looks like new. Baffle in = Increase in power and slightly louder. Not tried it with baffle out. Would definitely recommend.

1972 - BSA Bantam D7 in black with huge legshields. Blew up the big end when I forgot to put 2 stroke in the tank. Then in late '72 passed the test and got this. Still on the road out there somewhere, I believe.....

and notice that the replacement doodah is plastic rather than ceramic, so much less likely to break. O, and make sure you put plenty of grease on it when you fit, otherwise it makes a hell of a whining noise, and you then have to take it out and do it again, as I know ...............
