Hi,

The link to your ebay shop actually says that your bike is a year 2000 Subaru Outback 2457cc! You might want to ammend those details!

It does'nt say that in the 'TITLE' nor the listing ?

Thanks for the free bump B.T.W  ;)

R1 motor is different, mainly due to the R1 using downdraft carbs as opposed to side drafts like the FZS1000 does.
If you are in the U.K and want a 2nd hand FZS1000 engine drop me a P.M.

I have a complete fairing set removed from an '04' plate Gen 1 FZS1000, im fairly certain the colour is 'Galaxy Blue' feel free to correct me if im wrong smiley: embarassed.

I have them listed in my eBay shop (see below)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FZS1000-FZS-1000-FAZER-1000-COMPLETE-FAIRING-SET-INC-GRAB-HANDLES-VGC-BLUE-/221175803996?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item337f1af05c

There are some very light marks on the panels (they are nearly 10 years old) but in overall good 'Useable' condition.

Im looking for as close to £400 as possible for the lot, obviously I am open to sensible offers from forum members.

I would consider lightly damaged panels in P/X and I can also offer assistance in fitting for a small fee.

Any Q's please feel free to contact me.

Unfortunately I need to move this on, ive had it for about 18 months & prior to this is was one of my customers,  so ive personally maintained the bike for a few years.
The bike is fitted with custom painted panels which are to my design & were done in house at my workshop. The bike has not been involved in any accidents the painted panels were fitted to make the bike look a little different.

I have the bike in my eBay shop (link below)

Im looking for as close to £3,350 as possible, the bike needs nothing it is ready to jump on & ride away.

Any Q's please feel free to contact me.

Cheers, chitsu.

P.M sent.

Personally I would not bother, they are more trouble than they are worth! (Ive removed a few this year)

You would be better off spending your money on a tracking type device, atleast you have a chance of getting your bike back with one of them fitted.

18
As stated above the light is for 'OIL LEVEL' & NOT oil pressure, I personally have not had to top up my oil on my own bike this year, but I have only covered about 800 miles!
I have found that you need to have the oil level right at the top of the sight glass with nothing to about a 1mm gap at the top.
Unfortunately there isnt a fix it's just a niggle with these bikes (also mentioned above).

I have had several Gen 1's in the past & I did have one that used about 250ml of oil every 250 miles, which isnt acceptable (this bike was a low mileage bike with known history too!). Oil consumptions can vary. It all depends on mileages, how they have been maintained & how they have been used. If it is using 300ml in say 3,000 miles I would not say it isnt worth worrying about at the moment, but then again it still isnt great. If it's using 300ml in 300 miles then the obvious thing is to look for external leaks first, if non found I would then do a compression test.

Both teroson & sol x do great two part  plastic repair adhesives. Teroson is available on ebay but sol x products tend to be trade only. I've used both of the above but I prefer the sol x MM adhesive as it is a better value for money product. I've repaired a few sets of these inserts with good results. If I get chance I will be post some cash pics of the repaired panels.

What model is it ? Is it an oil or water cooled bike ? I've had few of both, the later K series models are very light but the build  quality is very poor !

« on: 07 September 2012, 08:58:30 am »
Chitsu,it is a meta 357 so it is different from your pictures, the cable block is all black with no white part.
Thanks for the pictures and offer though.

I have dropped lucky as a friend of my next door neighbour had to do this with his alarm and it was the exact same model as mine so on saturday he is bringing his bike round so i can copy his wiring.

I also spoke to a car alarm guy and he reckons these alarms are failing because the internal battery has failed as they are now 10 years old and there is no way of replacing it.

What you have been told about battery failure is correct as to why they are failing. Its not just META's that are suffering but all alarms. I recently removed a DATATOOL from a friends bike so I made a note of which wires to join on that too.
I personally dont like alarms & favour the idea of having a tracker atleast if your quick enough you stand some chance of getting your bike back.

As regards to your alarm I have the details (see pic below).

You need to join the first & second and then the third & fourth connectors together (in pairs), all the connectors are located on the top row, and this is if you are looking head on at the black plug with the locking tang at the top.

Here you go a pic of the plug from a 357t-v2, pretty easy really once you have removed the plug at the back of the alarm unit (I snipped the bolts of the shroud with a pair of split pin cutters).

The 4 wires you need to bridge are both of the wires in the white plug (starter circuit) and two in the main plug on the top row (where the tang is that locks the connector) looking at it as though it is plugged in, you should count in from the right then they are the 2nd in & 4th in (see pic below)
Obviously you will need to isolated all the other wires as there are two lives +indicator wires which will be live when switched on.

If you dont fancy doing this yourself or you have a DIFFERENT model of META alarm fitted then please feel free drop me a P.M and I can remove the alarm for you.

Which model META is it ?

I removed a 357T-V2 a couple of years ago from one of my old Fazers & it was'nt too difficult once the alarm unit or box was opened up.
If I get chance I will try & dig out the old unit if ive still got it & put some pics up of the wires you need to join together.

PLEASE BE AWARE: the bypass details are different on the 357T so this is why I ask which model you have!

The return springs are a doddle to replace, just make sure you have a bit rag to hand as there can be a little oil up there. Also make sure you clean off all of the old gasket before re-fitting.
I also find it easier to remove the complete footrest hanger (its only 3 bolts) it saves a bit of struggling.

Welcome to the site  :D

Ive allways fancied a ZX12 as there supposed to be a bit of animal ?

Anyway the Ivans jet kit is the way to go ive had several fazers over the years a few standard, one with a dyno jet kit (this was awful) and 2 now with the Ivans kits.
They are fairly easy to install providing you are patient (the last one I did I spent about 3 or so hours on it), and are definetely worth the small price, not only in performance (they make the bike a lot more tractable) but also the economy. I was out 2 up riding fairly sedately and managed 200 miles on a tank before panic filling and only managed to get some 16 litres back in  :\

Theres plenty of threads & info on the Ivans kits so dont be afraid ask any questions or use the search function.

Ride safe, chitsu.
