Bit annoyed, I've bought a spare head, rebuilt it, stripped the bike apart, only to find oil in the inlets. Which says to me it's getting through the crankcase breather... Anyone found this before?

Hi all, got a problem with my bike keeps overheating in slow traffic.
I've just changed the fuse as it was blown for the fan motor, it now runs after a couple minutes idling in neutral, but when the light comes on the fan comes on really gently. When I bridge the terminal the fan comes in full power, but after about 30 seconds it starts slowing down to an almost stop, and takes a minute before I bridge it again to get full speed out of it.
So my question is, does the ecu control the duration of the fan? Relative to available voltage maybe? And I'm pretty certain I should be replacing the thermo unit yeah?

Just wondering if anyone has ground their exhaust port to match their exhaust? The port seems to be a D shape as opposed to round, any benefit to matching it? Got a spare head to play with

Hi guys, been out for a 100 mile play today, towards the end of the ride me and a mate decided to drag race (on a privately owned airstrip...), after the first couple gears the bike started to fall flat. Now no matter what gear I'm in it seems to misfire over about 7-8krpm. It ran perfect in recent weeks doing the same, but all of a sudden today it struggles,it sounds more like it's on 3 cylinders than 2.
So besides the obvious, clean connectors, snip the HT leads, replace the plugs. Any other thoughts? Coils are pretty cheap so I'll snatch some up while I'm at it. Are there any common faults that would act like this?

Hi all, my bike is burning a bit of oil at start up, and the first couple times you rev the tits off it when warm, bike is 45k miles 2002. I've already bought the gasket set to do the valve stems, you reckon it's worth doing the rings when apart? I've read the head can be removed in frame, barrel too?

From a little digging it seems I need an 05-11 r6 rear shock, and 10mm shorter dog bones. Is this all? Or are there different bearings or bushes etc required?

Just wondering what your opinions are on the crossover? I made the all4 adaptor up, and fitted it after syncing my carbs (I rode the bike with them blanked first). First though was that the idle was WAY lower, I had to screw in the adjuster a lot. It takes a long time for the engine to get hot enough to idle properly, more like my 2 stroke. And secondly, it did smooth out the power, but also feels like there might be less?
Now the 1-4/2-3 makes a little more sense to me, as when the valves are closed there will be a positive pressure in one inlet tract, while the other is drawing a vacuum... Now, if the carb with open valves is drawing from this positive pressure, surely this reduces the amount of draw through it's carb, in which lower velocity would result in less fuel being delivered to the cylinder, as its the velocity that aids fuelling?
I'm pretty much set on removing the system, but if I'm wrong about 1-4/2-3, it might pose some benefits... Just wondering what you've all found works best?

Just wondering what technique you guys are using, what gear, what revs, what speed? I've not tried first gears yet, but I'm struggling in second, used to be able to get my 750 gix up easy in second, but I'm struggling on the fazer...

The video makes it sound horrific, but it's really quite quiet. There's just a couple ticking noises that aren't very consistent that I can't put my finger on, does this sound healthy to you? Just synced carbs and adjusted cam chain tensioner, (I adjusted it by first taking it apart and cleaning/lubing it, then put it in, wound in by fingers until felt resistance, then backed out a full turn, started engine, wound in with fingers until tight, and backed out 1/6th turn, and tightened.) https://youtu.be/PcwQyVMIoxc

Anyone know what this is? Everything on the bike is working fine, but when I turn the ignition to the on position I can hear a faint crackling noise, it sounds like it's coming from the tank or clocks area but I can't pin point it... Fzs1000 2002

Hi!
Has anyone hot any idea on what goes in these bare threads? I'm looking at the underside of the carb with the inlet to the engine facing away. It is on the left next to the mixture screw? On the right is coolant lines, but on my carbs to the left is just empty? There's a hole in the bottom so something must go there!?

Need to know the size of the vent hose required for the diaphragm side of the carb on my FZS1000 (BST 37), last owner decided vent hoses weren't necessary...

Also, first post, took a break from sportier bikes since my license became a bit colourful with points, but it's clean again now, so I thought I'd go for a Fazer... WHAT A BIKE!
