How about your bike next to a famous food manufacturers factory.

Carb icing?

My bike suffered carb icing when I first got it, his symptoms don't sound like that.
Once the carbs ice up the bike runs like absolute shite, it wouldn't be resolved with a few on/offs of the key, the ice needs to be melted before you can set off again.

Ah good point, I have never had it but seen it mentioned and thought I'd throw it into the mix.

Took the Sprint for its mot, minus 2 degrees and snow for the 10 mile journey. On a more positive note it passed with no advisories and the ride home was a tropical 2 degrees.

Personally I would not recommend putting tubes in, if you get a nail in the tyre it will deflate at a much higher rate with a tube and if that happened on a spirited ride going into a corner who knows where you might land, I would check the valve stem where it comes through the wheel, if no leak there try round the rim and round the tyre, use warm water with a dash of fairy, (warm water sticks to the rubber and does not run off like cold) if it is round the rim clean all corrosion off and use the liquid rubber like others have already said.

My shed floor level is about 150mm  off the level of the road, I have a scaffold board about a metre long that I place on a couple of bricks to run the bike in/out, then remove the board into shed once done, I will try and get some pics in daylight.

Cheers guys, have decided it would probably be safer (in my head) to buy a pair, I had Michelin Pilot power 2ct's on the Fazer and really liked them, so will give them a try on the Sprint.

« on: 26 June 2015, 07:01:29 pm »
The rear tyre on my Sprint is needing replaced, it's a Pirelli Angel st, I don't really like the feel of it but it was on the bike when I purchased it and was too good to throw off, my question is can I leave the half decent Angel on the front and fit a Michelin on the rear or am I better to replace both to Michelin, my brother says he read somewhere that I must have same tyre front and rear but I don't know so need your input.

Would need a bigger picture (make model engine size etc) of the suspect vehicle before I could comment

I was in a works syndicate when it first started, we used to get handed about 15 quid at the end of the year, when they went to 2 draws per week we put it to the vote to see if we would do it once or twice, me being a tight foccer came out of the syndicate when they decided to play Saturday and Wednesday draws, the following week they had 5 numbers and the bonus £30,000 to each of them foc all to me.

Due to a medical condition I have to renew my licence every 3 years, DVLA usually inform me when it is due, although a couple of years ago I noticed my licence had expired with no reminder, when I contacted them I was told they don't always inform you and it is your own responsibility.

Do you not have a friendly neighbour who would let you use his garage for a couple of days?

I would go to the stealers and try get a price for your bike, you might be surprised what they offer, when I traded my fz6 for my Sprint ST I was offered £100 less than I valued my bike, I reckoned that was a win for me as it meant I was not going to get hassle from a punter moaning about this or that not being right on the bike.

The 2008 on Sprints had an updated fairing fitted which helped with the overheating of your leg syndrome.

Just goes to show that some people only read the title and not the advert, yes the seller is wrong for the article he is selling but the buyer obviously has not done his homework either.

A (very) small souvenir from Oban, west coast,Scotland. One of the most friendly & beautiful places I've been to :) .

A souvenir bought in Oban, I think the Oban distillery is owned by Diageo, William Grants is part of the Glenfiddich group.

An old distiller once told me there was no such thing as a bad whisky, only some better than others, Balvenie Double Wood is an excellent dram and Aberlour's A'Bunadh is really mellow, I live right in the heart of Speyside so am partial to quite a few of the local spirits.
