FZS600 Fazer / Fuel tank cap
« on: 25 May 2012, 12:11:57 am »
I opened the fuel tank today after the first spin in a few months (march) and I really got a big blow out of air and vapour. First time this has happened. Normaly there is some pressure difference big this was quite noticeable.

Normal or not ?

I also have the stromex. It has a heat proof inner so won't melt on the exhaust.

Keep me posted on what upgrade you do. I have wired the two up as per the other thread and is was quite easy. I am interested on how the H4 HID kits works. Is there a thread on how to do that ?

FZS600 Fazer / Sticky throttle
« on: 07 May 2012, 10:42:23 pm »
To answer my own question about a problem with a sticking throttle. It would not snap back when released.

I tried to oil the cable at first and this worked briefly but then it got sticky again. On the advice from a mate I removed the bar grip gave it a good clean and then sprayed some silicone on the handlebar and in the grip/throttle. This seems to have done the trick.

When I first looked inside the grip it looked very clean but it would seem that it was grease/dirt that was making it stick.

Might help someone with the same problem.

I use organics on the rear as softer and they don't bite so much. I have also been told ceramic can wear the disk quicker but I don't have them so don't know. I think I used ECB Pads and the are fine.

I have read very mixed reviews fron goldfren both good and very bad so that's your call. Make sure you get brake cleaner (got min from halfords) sprayed loads on to give them a super clean with a tooth brush any shite or muck left in will not help at all.

Doing the DAS and first time on the 600. Outside the shop I was asked to push it backwards down the curb. I twisted the handlebars on the way down and dropped the bike on me and my leg. I had one serious bruise on my leg but luckily only my body was damaged.

So my fist experience on a 600 was to drop it. This was a great confidence booster to my first big ride.

I of course blame the instructors.

The chances are none these will work but here goes.

It seems the answer (if it works on your model) is to hold down the select and And other button down for 2 - 4 seconds. This is from a non Uk sight but it does not seem to work on all models.

Instructions in this thread

If this does not work

P.s what page is throttle removal in any of the manuals as I can't find it ?

maybe bent or rusty handlebar? or the throttle tube could be damaged? grip dragging on bar end weight?

When to cable is off at the handlebar everything spins freely so I assume cable. No rust and no damage to handlebar. I will check cable for snags etc.

Thread hijack.... My throttle is very sticky and will not snap back. I put some 3in1 on the cable from the top and that seemed to fix it for a short time. I then put some more on and left the cables up overnight to let it sink down the cable but it is still very sticky and wont snap back. Any thoughts ?

I changed mine and very easy. There is a work shop manual on the forum somewhere that I think it's in. I posted some filters from eBay on this thread.

The round bracket that goes around my stock exhaust is a bit loose. It maybe the spot welds have come loose in parts. I have notice some after market exhausts have a "rubber" strip underneath the round bracket.

Can these be purchased separately and if not could you recommend something else that would work and be able to deal with the heat ?

I can only find this but it seems like I would have to break my clamp off
