« on: 12 August 2012, 08:07:48 pm »
Dear all,

I have had to sell the Fazer due to an imminent move to Hong Kong. I just wanted to say thanks for all the help with may fazer problems, mods and questions. Great site to be involved in with lots of helpful folks. I fancy getting a fazer in Hong Kong so there maybe some more questions along the way.

Cheers dudes.

« on: 01 August 2012, 06:52:36 pm »
Bugger.

I am moving to hong kong and to export the bike would cost over £500 with 30% import tax of the value and export cost so £800 plus to take it with me.

So here we have another reluctant sale  :'(

General / Very hot weather clothing
« on: 16 June 2012, 09:02:42 pm »
Hi kids,

I will be moving to Hong Kong in August and still want to ride. The problem is it as hot as fook out there in summer.

Now I like my leathers and ride in nothing else but in them I get a sweat on at 24 degrees. In Hong Kong it will get to 35 degrees plus in summer and be humid.

Now I know nothing is better than full leather and having had non-bike related skin graphts before I know they are not fun.

What are my options other than not riding ? Is there a leather/other combo that would work ?

Thanks for the help.

P.s I am not sure about textiles and I think jeans don't offer enough protection or none moving armour.

FZS600 Fazer / Fuel tank cap
« on: 25 May 2012, 12:11:57 am »
I opened the fuel tank today after the first spin in a few months (march) and I really got a big blow out of air and vapour. First time this has happened. Normaly there is some pressure difference big this was quite noticeable.

Normal or not ?

FZS600 Fazer / Sticky throttle
« on: 07 May 2012, 10:42:23 pm »
To answer my own question about a problem with a sticking throttle. It would not snap back when released.

I tried to oil the cable at first and this worked briefly but then it got sticky again. On the advice from a mate I removed the bar grip gave it a good clean and then sprayed some silicone on the handlebar and in the grip/throttle. This seems to have done the trick.

When I first looked inside the grip it looked very clean but it would seem that it was grease/dirt that was making it stick.

Might help someone with the same problem.

FZS600 Fazer / Loose exhaust
« on: 22 March 2012, 10:30:21 pm »
The round bracket that goes around my stock exhaust is a bit loose. It maybe the spot welds have come loose in parts. I have notice some after market exhausts have a "rubber" strip underneath the round bracket.

Can these be purchased separately and if not could you recommend something else that would work and be able to deal with the heat ?

I can only find this but it seems like I would have to break my clamp off

FZS600 Fazer / Loose levers
« on: 10 March 2012, 05:50:27 pm »
Hi guys,

Just done bike safe with the police which I can't recommend enough. Great blokes, great fun and I learnt loads.

Now to the point. I have a little up and down play in both the clutch and front brake levers. On the pull side they work fine but they do move up and down.

Is this simply a case of tightening up some screws/bolts or is it just age ? 1998 FZS 600.

FZS600 Fazer / Sticky throttle
« on: 02 March 2012, 07:16:37 pm »
Ok so I'm all questions and no answers at the moment. The bike has been laid up over winter. Started on the button but the throttle is a little sticky. I will take it for a run this weekend but do you have any tips on a quick fix/lube for throttle cable ? Drop a bit of 3 in 1 ?.

I hope the run will loosen it up a bit anyway.

FZS600 Fazer / Spark plugs again
« on: 02 March 2012, 06:43:24 pm »
Ok I was going to post on the other thread but it was to long and mostly an argument. One of my plugs (plug 1) is in at a different angle if only slight. It maybe that the thread has been stripped. Now the bike runs as per normal with no blowing around the plug.

Question

Has anyone had to re- thread a plug hole and is it expensive. On the last thread the starter stated a plug had snapped in his! Did you have to re thread or did you get it out. Is there any point in re threading if no blowing and the bike runs like normal. ?

FZS600 Fazer / Plugs & help
« on: 23 February 2012, 10:56:55 pm »
Just taken my plugs out for a clean and they don't have the terminal on the top that goes on the top of the thread. Now as I have no point of reference is this normal .

Also iridium plugs or normal ? I hear that iridium are not worth the money for the Fazer ?

FZS600 Fazer / Pads. HH or GG
« on: 22 February 2012, 10:59:43 pm »
hi guys,

I am fitting Hel lines on the rear this weekend and although I have about a year of life on the pads think this might be a good time to change. I do no track work and don't ride the bike too hard.

So what pads ? There is talk of a combo of  of HH on the from and GG on the rear. I don't want them to be to grabby so am thinking of GG on the rear and as the from is OK no change. Also as I have about a year or so of pad on the rear should I not bother and just run wi the HEL upgrade.

Cheers dudes

PS if you work for Enfield council they have an offer for free bike safe for employees for 3rd & 10th March.

FZS600 Fazer / Petrol odour from exhaust
« on: 09 October 2011, 08:11:23 pm »
I have a 1998 with 32k on the clock. I get a petrol smell from the exhaust even when the engine is hot. Is this normal and am I too used to my car with a cat with no smell. It idles fine and no other problems other than a bit of time to start from cold now more than in summer.

It has had new
Oil and filter
Plugs
Air filter
Fuel filter

I assume that it is just the age of the bike.
