Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Hel brake lines
« on: 28 July 2018, 11:24:42 am »
Thanks pieeater

I've contacted hel so hopefully they'll get back to me. The lines on the bike now which aren't hel but are aftermarket full length aren't quite long enough to be able to position the brake where I want it on the 755 but as I've already had the bars tapped and fitted I'll stick with them. Bit of an oh bugger moment when I realised the lines weren't long enough lol

Gorgeous bike mate! Don't suppose you remember what length hel brake lines you put on the front to fit the 755's?

does anyone know what length front lines I'd need when the bikes fitted with Renthal 755 bars?

My Reso levers arrived and I've just fitted them, quality looks really good and appearance is also real nice. I had to use the bushing from the original clutch but other than that no shimming or mucking about just a straight swap. Brake fits perfectly without the need for any of the original bushing or shims. Adjustments seem good but I've not taken the bike out yet so only going on how it feels in the garage. So far for £60 I think they're pretty good, look gorgeous!

Here's mine with a MIVV can.

Nice looking bike! Where did you get the painted belly pan?

Am I right in thinking the longer the pipe the quieter it's likely to be? I'm going to risk getting a pipe despite any law revisions partly because the sound of the stock exhaust almost ruins the bike for me and also as mentioned the whole ICBM thing, I really don't the CIA to start thinking I'm a threat. I really doubt any police officer would waste their time hassling bikers unless they're riding like twats or are being rude if stopped and as is already the case just need an mot station which is simpathetic to our cause (being noisy)

Trying to do my new gen1 up to be all sexy and get rid of the abominable which is the stock muffler but I'm really struggling to decide on what to put on it. After reading through some previous threads the general opinion is unless your going for a full race header/can set up with fuel mapping etc essentially the end can is just a tube of steel the makes a nice noise and looks good. I'm hoping to get some inspiration or at least know what not to put on my bike through some of your pics! Really trying to make this bike nice but cosmetic or arty choices are not my strong point. I'm pretty good at fixing and braking things but making them pretty is not my forte lol. The pic is the bike I'm trying to prettify and the exhaust I think might do the job

Thanks kenbob, I've actually already bought some black renthal 755 bars which are currently at an engineering place being tapped to accept the heavy R&G bar ends. I prefer the raised position of the standard bars just want them longer! I currently have two fzs1000's one with 755's and Chinese levers and one completely stock and the stock one just doesn't feel right compared to the modded one but as I bought the stock one for its near pristine condition and colour scheme I don't want to put anything cheap on it so red Reso levers and black bars it is.

B1k3rdude thanks for that link, an interesting read. I've already ordered the Reso levers so hopefully it will work out ok. I have noticed on my fazer with the Chinese levers that I can't adjust the lever to close to the bars and retain proper clutch movement which most obviously manifests itself in difficultly engaging neutral but as for control and feel I think the aftermarket levers are better as long as you're careful with their set up.

I'm guessing fowlers would do them but no idea what they'd charge, probably better off taking up tex's offer lol

Well you've all put my mind at ease about not having to spend a fortune on overly expensive levers which considering I've just spent a load on a near pristine stock fazer thou then bought a shock off Devilsyam and now need a custom seat, exhaust, bars, levers, belly pan etc any saving I can make is helpful. As I'm trying to make this bike as sexy and quality as possible I think I'm going to go for a pair of Rezo levers at £60 for the pair I just hope the red doesn't fade to pink  :lol

Ok that sounds good to me, I was worried as I bought a cheap tap and die set before and it turned out the tool handle was made of Emmental mixed with a Victoria sponge... The asv ones look great but are crazy money, was looking at the pazzo but only saw stubbies which I'm fine with for the brake as I only use two fingers but I need three fingers for the clutch to be comfortable. Reno do a pair for 60 squid but again just seeing stubby.

just wanted to know other people's opinions on the very different pricing for aftermarket levers, do I go for the expensive £100 a lever  :eek  asv levers which I'm sure must be quality or the cheap Chinese levers which look pretty much the same but are under £20 a pair! Or others at around £60 a pair... such a massive difference for what I suppose is just a small piece of milled metal but saying that you wouldn't want your brake lever to snap or fall off going into a bend of summat. Anyone got either cheap or expensive ones or have any input?

Best I've managed so far was 250 miles with the light on for the last few miles, French motorways this spring doing a steady 70-80 trying to get to Spain although it was in the pissing rain so most of the time I was hiding under the screen trying to keep at least some of me remotely dry and not freeze to death. This is with a one down front sprocket too!

For sale is a 2002 Fzs1000 with 30k miles and MOT'd until April 2019. £1850

Extras include: Bagster tank cover, SP engineering exhaust, Devilsyam R6 shock mod, custom Tony Archer seat, 4 degree ignition avancer, R1 gear linkage, heated grips, Renthals 755 bars, crash bungs, Sport attack 3 tyres (1500miles), LED instrument/display lights, gear indicator, rear hugger, smoked taillight, load horn, additional LED daytime running lights, double bubble tinted screen, one down front sprocket and R&G racing bar ends. Rode this biked to Spain this summer and it didn't miss a beat, a fantastic bike with pretty much all you need already on there, I'm only selling as I've bought another FZS1000 which is slightly newer and is black and red as I have a thing for this colour combo... located in Bristol

NOW SOLD For sale is my 2001 600 fazer.

MOT'd early march 2018, mileage is 31k, rear tyre has less than 1000 mile on it, same with chain and sprocket. This spring I did kebabs front fork mod, new dust and oil seals, yss emulators and öhlins springs rated at 85nm. I've got the original damper rods and springs so it can be reverted back. Carb inlet rubbers replaced about two years ago and are in great condition. Carb balance done last month and the engine starts and runs extremely well. I had the seat made around three years ago and it is slightly lowered with a gel insert. Headlight mod also done. LED indicators, LED tail light. Looking for offers around £1150 located in Bristol all paperwork in my name 07449838290

FZS600 Fazer / Re: What have you done to your FZS600 bike today
« on: 13 May 2018, 09:08:58 pm »
Possibly difficult to say 100% but I would say yes it does feel like the vibrations have been dampened and other than between maybe 5,500-6,500 rpm (motorway cruising speed...) when the whole bike is buzzing like an electric sander it's quite smooth especially at over 100mph, 120mph it's comparable to a Rolls Royce or at least what I'd imagine one feels like as I've never been in one. The bar end I've got are different weights though so that may not help. I'll be filling my fazer thou with silicone too as I think I'm happy with the results and for £1.90 for the silicone there's no reason not to.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: What have you done to your FZS600 bike today

Balanced the carbs, filled the bars with silicone to reduce vibrations and swapped over two of the coil wires which I had the wrong way around after having the engine out a couple years ago, not sure it makes any difference that I could feel or hear. Carbs weren't far out but now they're really well balanced!

Took her out for a little test ride after the balancing only to break half a mile down the road, can anyone guess why?

Congratulations to those who guessed right! Forgot to turn the fuel tap back on  :lol
Unfortunately I had left my extra mini tool kit with the correct hex key for the fuel tank at home but thankfully after stripping off all my motorcycle gear and a little panic as I couldn't believe I'd be so daft to leave the tap off I eventually managed to undo the bolt with the OEM tool kit's pliers.

After turning the tap back on I carried on my way to Chepstow to do the wye valley road (lovely road!) but the M48 bridge was closed so came home again :'(

FZS600 Fazer / Re: What would you replace your FZS600 with?
« on: 11 May 2018, 02:18:29 pm »
What about the FZS1000? That's what I've just done and it's fantastic! Very powerful, smooth and loads of torque. I'm finding it much more comfortable and because it's so similar to the 600 I feel I know my way around the bike already. Fuel economy seems pretty similar, maybe 200 mile a tank with a 1 tooth down front sprocket for some extra acceleration. Still not sure I can part with my FZS600 though.

Hhmmm filled with silicone... I like that idea and I must have a tube of it somewhere in the house. I'm not a fan of vibrations and don't want to feel any so will try the silicone, also got the R&G clamp in ends now and the vibes aren't too bad plus they look better than the yam ones
