General / Tom tom web site info for france
« on: 12 February 2013, 03:46:00 pm »
It seems that Tomtom will change your "camera locations " to "danger areas" in France to get past the law there.

Is the TomTom Speed Camera service legal?

Most governments and local authorities agree with us that the TomTom Speed Camera service makes driving safer. At TomTom we comply with (local) legislation and where necessary adapt our practice, as explained below.
Changes to the law in France
Since decree n°2012-3 was introduced on 3 January 2012 it has been illegal to be warned about the position of fixed or mobile speed cameras while you are driving in France. If your TomTom navigation device has the Speed Camera service and you continue to use the service, you risk a fine of up to €1500.New update: TomTom Speed Camera service becomes Danger Zones in France
TomTom had a meeting with the Road Safety Ministry to clarify the situation regarding new and upcoming legislation. As a result, TomTom is introducing a 100% compliant Danger Zones service available in a free download for compatible products.

General / Speedo correction (16 tooth)
« on: 03 February 2013, 08:20:49 am »
So a couple of months ago i put a 16 tooth front sprocket on my FZ1s so i took a satnav on the tank pad to check out the speed correction.

I found the bike to be over reading as expected , the speedo read 44 to satnav 40    ,speedo 55 to satnav 50 and so on, so there is a 10% over read, easy to calculate when riding.

I got the speedo to read 142 and the satnav recorded 128 max speed of trip.(on a closed airfield of course) :\

On my Hilux pickup the sat nav reads slightly less than the speedo for cross reference,50 on the speedo and 48 on the sat nav so that 4% is my safety factor on riding at speed limits.

SO as written about the sprocket change making a 5.4% over read and the inbuilt 5% over read on the bike speedo i know where i am.

And as for the 16 tooth mod well, i takes away the need to change down to over take  ( in most cases anyway) and makes for a smoother ride.

I have recorder 130 miles on the milo and the fuel is flashing ,so have to check what is left in the tank as i want 150 miles to the tank or if not then the 17tooth is going back on.

Four of us are riding to Mugello end of May, going through Switzerland , my mates gsxr 750 needs to stop at 150 miles so should be ok.

As explained by Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta at Ducati’s Wrooom in early January this year, a new qualifying format will be brought in for the premier-class MotoGP category to increase the spectacle for the fans, and to put greater importance on competitive times throughout the preceding practice sessions.
As in previous years, there will be three 45-minute Free Practice sessions, which on a regular race weekend will be held Friday morning and afternoon, as well as Saturday morning. The difference this year will be that the times set in those sessions will count towards Qualifying, with the combined results determining whether a rider will participate in Q1 or Q2.
Q1 will consist of the riders whose times are 11th place and below, and will be a 15-minute session. During this time riders will have the incentive to qualify for Q2, which the two fastest of the session will be able to contest. This will result in 12 riders contesting the final 15-minute Q2 session, to determine the starting order at the front. The riders not in the fastest two places in QP1 will take grid positions 13 and above according to their placement in QP1.
To accommodate for any unforeseen changes or necessary adjustments, there will be a 30 minute Free Practice 4, which will be held before the two Qualifying sessions. This will not be timed, nor count towards which Qualifying a rider will take part in.
Moto2™ and Moto3™ free practices and qualifying will remain the same as in previous years.
New Procedure
1. The three existing sessions of free practice will be unchanged, however, the combined times from those sessions will determine participation in the final qualifying practice.
2. The ten fastest riders will be seeded through to Qualifying Practice 2 (QP2).
3. All other riders will take part in Qualifying Practice 1 (QP1).
4. The fastest two riders in QP1 will progress to QP2, making a total of 12 riders competing for the first 12 grid positions.
5. The riders not in the fastest two places in QP1 will take grid positions 13 and above according to their times in QP1.
New Practice Timings
Day One:
Free Practice 1 - 45 Minutes, Timed for Qualifying Practice Participation
Free Practice 2 - 45 Minutes, Timed for Qualifying Practice Participation
Day Two: Morning
Free Practice 3 - 45 Minutes, Timed for Qualifying Practice Participation
Day Two: Afternoon
Free Practice 4 - 30 Minutes, NOT Timed for Qualifying Practice Participation
Break - 10 Minutes
Qualifying Practice 1 - 15 minutes
Break - 10 Minutes
Qualifying Practice 2 - 15 minutes

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / I took it out today!
« on: 09 December 2012, 07:00:15 pm »
Well the weather was almost ok, a bit drizzly but its fantastic riding this bike i had to get on it,

and also i needed a new pair of shoes and did not want to go to the mother inlaws.

The road crap was bad, salt n all

so on the way back i called in a Halfrauds and bought some of their wash off cleanser and a nice bristly long brush.

Gave it a good cleanse and wash n wax and power hosed it off.

The ride was brill, had to be very careful with the throttle, :eek

The bike is really bursting with power , the mid range is great, twist n go.

I also recieved on of them anti fog inserts from Oxford products ,

And they really do work brilliant, not one fog issue at all. just kept a tissue handy in the tank bag pocket to wipe the road crap off.

The insert goes on the inside and selff adheres to the visor, absolutely a must for winter riding and no visability probs at all.

I did 63 miles and loved it thanks to the heated grips too.

Billy (manuel) lol  :evil
