gave the old girl a deep clean
« on: 27 January 2019, 02:24:49 pm »
for her 15th birthday, i thought i would give the old fazer a deep clean....... drained coolant and removed radiator..... removed exhaust and gave front of engine its first proper clean in 15 years....... must say its come up remarkably well...... will post some pictures when i work out how to get them off my phone...... btw the jubilee clips attaching pipes to the oil cooler have rubber sleeves around them........ anyone know the significance of these rubber bands....... mr yamaha must have put them on there for a reason, but i don't know why

Very nice, indeed.  And a USA 'skunk' version, too ... lovely paint scheme! :)

What's the mileage?  From the general condition of the headers and other components, not much wet or winter running on that beauty.

I'm guessing the rubber strips are meant to deflect road crap from the clips to prevent corrosion but that begs the question, why don't the coolant hoses up front have them as well?

That was deal and a half.  I bought mine zero miles pre-reg new in 2005 for 6k.  I was well happy.

Looks as good now as it did all that time back.  Top fella, Driller, sad he's no longer with us.

I also Ivanized tmation's FZ1 many moons ago and he keeps that it perfect nick, too.  That paint scheme is the best ever for the Gen 1, I think.  Shame it wasn't an option in the UK.

Looks gorgeous!
                               What's a U.S.A. skunk.  version?

It's got a two tone paint scheme, like a stripe on a skunk.

I still have mine, about 26K now. Mike you ivanised it twice, once at my house then a few years later you did the full monty (I think at old sons place)

I still like the two tone black and silver storm (skunk colour, or should that be color  :lol )

I have a 1290 SuperDuke GT for summer touring now, so Fazer is for sunny day fun
