When do you need it by?

I have bought a 1290 Superduke GT for touring duties so I will be selling the luggage set on my Gen 1, but I am not home until end of June.

I have an SW Motech Alu Rack and side carriers all with Givi Adaptors. 2 E42 Givi side cases, 2 21 L Givi side cases and a V46 top box with pillion back rest.

Apart from the rack everything comes off the bike in under 5 mins

Its been really good kit, never leaked water and is in good condition.

I have a 2004 USA import and have had no issues with parts, MOT's or servicing.

The original indicators are larger than the UK/Euro models and as above originally are always on and flash off, this would have been sorted by the shop that imported the bike.

Both my headlights are on all the time and dip flat, there is no pass/headlight flash and no hazard switch.

Two tone paint and reflectors on the forks and under the side of the seat.

I have had mine since new in 2004 and it has never missed a beat.

As above, or any good automotive paint suppliers (normally one in every big town)

I got a match from a shop in Harold Hill, turns out it is a Honda colour too, perfect match.

I needed it because my aftermarket belly pan dragged on the floor and the clamps moved on the frame removing paint.

Military surplus Gore-Tex is great (as long as you don't mind camo. Wear it over your leathers or other clothing so go for a bigger size

Welcome  :)

You will need to be a bit more specific in your question, what are your requirements for a shed, how much room do you have, do you have a concrete or slab base, do you wand a wooden floor, where are you in the country etc. etc.

Agree the Ardennes/Eiffel is great. Tmation, I had a google of that place but it seems a bit remote, so no bars/restaurants or nightlife I can see?

Yes not much in walking distance.

We did the half board package with unlimited wine, well worth the extra bit of cash.

As much free beer beer as you can drink as well  :D

Loads of stuff to see and great roads in the area, its a good base for 3 or 4 nights.

A mate and myself are off to Vienna starting Thursday, going via the Ardennes, the Voges, the Black Forest and the Alps. Coming back  similar route but on different roads. Four days to get there, four in Vienna and four back via the KTM factory for a tour (mate has an RC8R).

For a long weekend break (3 to 4 nights) I would go to the Eiffel and Ardennes area at the bottom of Belgium and into Germany. 3.5 to 4 hours from a channel port gets you there (Spa Francorchamps)

I have stayed at this place before, http://aeaventures.com ,

Luxembourg also worth a look.

Check out the RIDE magazine website for some suggested routes.

Good luck

Where are you located?

I have a brand new motobatt that size, purchased in error (well sent to me in error) I have a 1000 and it needs the 14 not 12.

If you are anywhere near Liverpool you can have it for £25, which is less that half price, saw similar size in Halfords for £99  :eek

I am selling my Garmin Zumo 550 motorcycle GPS, it comes loaded with Europe City Navigator 2016.

Also included is a ram mount for fixing to handle bar, motorcycle mount/holder (lockable) with wiring loom and carry case.

I would like £80 including the postage.

I have upgraded to a tomTom Rider 450 as my riding mates use it and it comes with world mapping for our travels, so easier to share routes etc. (I personally thing Garmin are better)

Can send more photos if required.

If you are lucky you would get around 1 to 1.5% in a bank savings account so between £5 to £7.5 for a year on £500.

Is it worth losing a friendship for 3/4 of fuck all?

It was good Karma to help him out, remember what goes around comes around  :)

Now if it had been £50,000 you had lent him then that would be a different matter.  :eek

I would clean and check the chain for tight spots etc and fit a new front sprocket, for the price what have you got to lose?

I am so jealous of the photo taking, I am normally enjoying the ride so much that that I forget to stop, either that or too lazy  :'(

Photos of rural petrol stations or village cafe don't impress anyone.

Enjoy the ride  :) , I am off to Vienna end of Aug via the Black Forest and the Alps.

General / Re: losing the back under front braking...sometimes?
« on: 10 July 2017, 05:28:05 pm »
Being a fat bloke myself I can tell you exactly what is happening to your bike.

Your suspension is budget and not designed for your weight, when you sit on the bike you will use up all the sag.

As soon as you brake all the weight will go to the front and the arse end will go light and wander around. (the poor rear suspension doesn't help here.)

If you can't afford to have the suspension rebuilt to suit your weight, at least get springs rated to suit you and take advice on oil weight and amount.

I always have my bike suspension rebuilt and set up for me, K Tech front and rear on my Gen 1 1000, serviced every 3 or 4 years by MCT.

You could also try applying the rear brake a bit first, the bike should then stay a bit flatter when braking hard.

I quite like the MT09 and MT10 but I wouldn't buy one for the same reason I never changed from FZS1000 Gen 1 to Gen 2, the poxy tank range.

I go touring in Europe every summer and even in the UK 250 miles would be a normal ride.

Having owned a VTR100 for 6 years, which was a great bike but you go into panic mode every 100 miles and have to find a fuel station. Okay if you are in your local area or on a known route but I got fed up with it.

Gen 1 gives me 150 to 180 miles before the fuel light which is now what I expect from a bike.

Oh and not keen on the Tracers, they are supposed to be great bikes (with a bigger tank) but I am not keen on the Soft Roader plasticky looks.

If you haven't done already, I would go through all the electrical block connectors, open them up check for corrosion, clean and give them a spray, also check the earth.

The main ones are under the seat, the one that connects the instruments, and one under the right side panel. But do them all, its only time and a can or electrical spray.

Did you put the forks back in the yokes yourself?

I think your forks might be slightly out of line. (bit of a twist)

Try loosening the bottom yoke bolts a bit then bounce the front end up and down.

I assume the headstock bearings are in good order and aren't overtightened.

I thought 36/42 are the recommended tyre pressures.

Givi only recommend the 21L cases for the Gen 1, but I have the E41 side cases on mine. (2004 but the rear end is the same)

Pillion foot clearance seems a bit tight mind.
