So I set about the K and N this morning - My brother was visiting so he got roped  into helping and was supporting the tank (full of fuel) as I got the filter in and tightened down the cover he turns and says "My hand is wet and smells like petrol - look its pouring out the side"

so quickly removed the tank and placed on its side to find this

Looks a little odd but I luckily had Gregs tank sat in my shed :)

after the drama of a tank swap returned to fitting the last piece from Noggy

and then had the chance to clean one of the downpipes

used astonish and it works well just need to do the other 3 now

It is dings on the upper half so not where the fuel and water rots through...just a shame......lets say for arguments sake that a part of the tank inner liner has come off under the bashes and into the fuel....well ive had no issues since the crash and when i emptied the fuel it came out clean and straight i to the thou and the petrol lawnmower.

I cant guarantee it but i can say that it is probably 95% better than the one you have....almost disposable for £25 and could run for years and years while you find a mint one......mind it is an 00, 01 tank though so best check if theres any fitment differences....if it fits then it is instant more capacity than yours.

As far as i know all the tanks are interchangeable, they just have different volumes.

98/99 18 litres
00/01 20 litres
02/03 22 litres

Looking good!

I'm amazed at the colour change in that downpipe, wouldn't expect it to go from yellow to silver - maybe you polished the coating off? :p

tanks are interchangeable, they just have different volumes.

They just have different length filler tubes. You can actually get the same volume of fuel in all of them but takes a bit longer to get in with the "smaller" tanks that have the longer filler tubes.

Seat comes from a guy called Dave Digger who did a cracking job on one for my Tiger, still trying to get round to asking him to do one for my Fazer. If you buy a seat of Ebay and get it sent to him then it should be around £150 ish all in posted back. He sometimes has seats in stock so would just be a case of sending him yours. Link below
