« on: 20 March 2016, 06:56:56 pm »
Thanks mate, I have had my suspicions that it was probably the EXUP, I just wanted a second opinion before I attempt to fix it. It looks a fairly straightforward operation without the need of 3 years of mechanical college courses. Is there any tricky bits i should be aware of whilst servicing ? Much appreciated  :)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Throttle Jerky At Low Revs ?
« on: 20 March 2016, 02:34:45 pm »
I have had my Gen 1 stored away for the winter and have been relying on his ever reliable older sister a FZS 600 to get me back and fore to work during the bad weather. Usually after a good wipe down and clean I have no problems with the Gen 1 after his annual hibernation. This year has proved to be different. The bike has 14,000 on the clock and is generally in good condition apart from the small winter rust spots. After charging the battery I decided to take it out for a blast and was dismayed to find a quite poor throttle response from about 2,500 up to about 5,000, then it gives a cough and splutter and pulls as strongly as ever. I have done a little internet reading and have come to the conclusion it's either a carb problem or a possible stuck or sticking Exup. I am a bit of a tinkerer but I am no mechanic. I have read that usually an error message usually comes up on the tacho if the exup is playing up but as yet i have not seen one. Any idea's-suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers  :'(

I said I would be able to get up to Bristol at end of April. Can you please get back to me if this is still possible. Sent you my e mail in Pm. Cheers mate. If its any good I would be looking at full monty, was going to have it last year but had to drop out and you said I was on the reserve list for future sessions  :)

Well I just went to work on mine this morning at 6.15. Nothing exciting except that on the way home some fighter pilot on a Kwacker 600 Zx6 tried to embarrass the old girl but she made him look a little silly because he lacked the required gonads to use his extra bhp lol. Love those weekend warriors bless em  :lol

The trouble with the English is the unrealsitc expectations you have any time you enter any competition ever. You always expect and claim to be the champions in waiting without actually possessing the requisite skills or more importantly giving the respect that other nations deserve. Until you finally put to bed for good the absurd dillusion that everything English is somehow "the dogs bollocks" you will be doomed to failure and inevitable disappointment and will be universally dismissed as arogant, misguided and disliked idiots by anyone not English.  :D

I should add that I am not English and of course that makes me totally biased and unsuitable to pass any meaniful comment on anything regarding them.  :lol

Fitted the new back wheel I had to buy because I couldn't get the rear disc mounting bolts off the old one so I could replace the rather worn rear disc. I ended up snapping the little bastards off in the wheel despite the extensive use of penetrating oil and a heat gun. In the end I just couldn't be arsed to get them drilled out and helicoiled so I bought a new wheel which although not cheap is very shiny and sexy.  :'(

I think it more likely that the black painted wheel commited suicide because it couldn't live with the fact that black is not actually the fastest colour. When confronted with this painful fact the paint died but then found itself reborn in the true fastest colour which everyone knows is SILVER.  :lol

Lovely bike there my friend. Looks like it's just been taken out of the wrapping paper. Silver is the fastest colour for a 600 but blue is definately the quickest gen 1 shade. Hey, don't shoot the messenger lol  :D

I can thoroughly recommend Mr Kebab's R6 shock absorbers. I purchased one and was very very happy with both the shock and the improvement in handling it made to my bike. And you dont have to be an engineer to do the mod yourself. Go for it  :)
