« on: 22 November 2014, 08:00:41 pm »
Decided to sell my beautiful FZS 1000, 54 Reg, approx 19500 miles. As you can see from the picture i have put a lot into this bike, apart from what you can see it has the R6 shock and Ivans jet kit, needs for nothing, located in Poole, Dorset.  £3200 ono.

if buying your GS from a dealer I may be interested in a three way - trade in my 58 plate FZ6 so you would trade your Fazer in and I could do the deal on it ...just a thought.

There has been a lot of issues with new BMW's, a friend has two and will opt to pay for extra warranty if he owns them outside of the normal warranty.

Loz.......i was gonna suggest ill swap you for my Gen2 08....,but seeing as your issue is pain then that is t really advisable.

However...

May i suggest that you consider a smaller number such as a 600 or even the mighty MT07 which i fancy.....stay Jap and go small......with a smaller engined and smaller weighted bike will also come lighter handling and less hustling......thus less shoulder pressure.

In an ideal world the pro rider will put minimal pressure on their shoulders as they will have that cupping a daddylonglegs grip on the bars and use their weight and extreme skill and all that good shit.

But back in the real world then the rest of us will be forcing the bars too much and putting extra strain on the shoulders...it is easy done....i am honest enough to admit that i do it on my gen2 although im getting better but seriously you're a girl and so you've probably already got slightly less muscle mass & weight than a bloke of simillar stature and if you're doing the same as me then you'll feel it in the muscles.

Mr Crisp has a dodgy shoulder and he swears that the gen 1 fazer thou is the best for him ergonomically........perhaps he is denying himself the pleasures of the GS also but i think he generally hates that type of bike.

But relibility must come into it a bit.......your husband is gonna be a busy man on your GS by the sounds of things and even then it'll be off to the workshop...(how close is your nearest BMW dealer?)

Anyway you've got a nice bike there....dont regret flogging it....try some risers or Renthals, or try a smaller bike.
At the end of the day it might be an irrational urge that you have...maybe you already know that and dont give a foc.......in which case just tell us to foc off and cough up the dosh :lol

I know what you are saying, i also have a 650 V Strom, so i know the position is right for me, but i have always had power bikes, its not about the max speed but the power delivery that does it for me. The GS is the only one i have ridden that has the power i like with the position i need and its actually not heavy its just like the v strom to be honest. Everything else in that catagory is either way to tall or way too heavy for me.
I am completely aware that i will probably regret selling it, and beleive me if i could finance this move without selling it i would  :rolleyes
As for the  BMW reliability, i have done my research and a few years ago i would have agreed and you all have permission to say 'i told you so' if it all goes pear shaped  :'(
I do appreciate you're concern though  :)

I think he wants to trade his bike (the S2) against yours (the FZS1000) and then you trade his bike (now your bike) against the GS  :lol :lol

Never have a bmw without a warranty...

I have had my R1200RT for almost two years (from new) and never had a single issue with it.  It is every bit as reliable as my FZS1000.

Your comparing a brand new specification BMW with low miles? with an old specification Yamaha with high miles?;
Interesting comparsion  :lol

Well done Exupnut - go to the top of the class.
For the rest of you ...no he doesn't stand on the schoolhouse roof
The advantage being that the dealer gets two sales so he is moving metal, he replaces a 54 plate bike with a 58 (and a sweet one) on his forecourt. This may make them more amenable to a deal on the BMW also...simples...well for those of us with English as a first language!  :pokefun
