Hi all, I have been enquiring with Christian about his Multi-gauge's. He has advised he does not currently have any stock but will have some by end of June.
It then occurred to me.. has anyone asked him about a group buy and if he can supply any discount on the units or even shipping?
I guess ideally it only really works if we can then coordinate getting them to individials when delivered to blighty.
Any thoughts on this or is it even worth my while asking him?
thanks,
Fuzz
-
are these the ones that replace the standard fuel gauge with a OEM-looking multi-gauge?
I could be interested, as they seemed to show a load of different functions. What sort of money is in one out of interest?
-
where can we find out more...??
-
http://cvieth.bplaced.net/ganganzeige_bilder.html
-
That does look good.
-
I emailed Christian (guy who makes them) and he said the following
Unit price is 140EUR, shipping is 6EUR, paypal is 6EUR (or via IBAN/BIC).
So at current exchange rate £114 each.
I mainly want one to stop me going for the phantom 7th gear lol.. The extra features are nice, like how many litres of fuel left and proper temp gauges are a bonus.
IF he will do a group discount (and its worth while) the only issue is getting them to you guys.
-
I don't suppose postage would be too much?
-
I certainly reccomend this mod. Not only the gear, but also the exact temperatures (water and air) are displayed...plus many other features:o)
This display is where I look the most. :eek
-
I would be up for one of those. They look like they need a bit of wiring in though. Anyone fitted one?
-
I might be interested! ;)
-
If you plan to compile a list of orders FuZzBoM; please put me down for one... ;)
-
put me down for one if this goes ahead :D
-
wow.. looks like we have a few interested. ok let me email him to see if he can give any discount on multibuys
Just gone through and complied a list from previous comments. Below look about right so far?

Hi to all. I'm the guy Fuzz has mentioned in his first posting. Thought it would be a good idea and ease communication if I register so you can ask me directly about the multi-gauge.
Nice forum. Hope to be a helpful contributor :)
Christian
-
Hi Christian,
I did not expect you to join the forum lol.. But you will be a very welcome addition I am sure of that.
Now I know you are an independent seller and probably only making minimal profit from your multi-gauge. The last thing I would want you to do is make a loss on selling to us. But is there some kind of way you could get multiple units to the UK reducing the cost?
Either way, when you do have stock in let me know because I will have one regardless. :D
thanks,
Fuzz
-
It's no problem for me to cluster orders. Just let me know what fits best for you. Same for avoiding paypal.
-
how easy is the gauge to install?

Or this one with lots of good pictures:
http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/multigaugeinstallation.html (http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/multigaugeinstallation.html)
Though it's a bit outdated. Stick to the PDF from above for the final cable colours.
Cutting down the plastic tube is not so easy. Soldering the cables can also become a challenge, depending on your skills and tools. Installation problems are rare, but if so then it's mostly due to poor soldering or cable routing (squeezing).
-
I have not been on the site for a while. But have wanted one of these for my bike. Can you put me down for one
-
im still in if christians getting an order together :)
-
I'm up for one for sure! :)
-
So if I'm 1 how many buyers do we have / need. ?..
-
There is no lower limit, but it is of adavantage to combine nearby orders to save shipping. 3 or 4 devices shipped to one spot would be perfect. Anybody able/willing to handle that?
-
Whats the cost of individaul shipping from your end Christien? Local parcel post in the UK can sometimes be more expensive than international post from other countries.
-
International registered letter is about 6EUR. That is good for max 2, maybe 3 devices.
International packet is about 10EUR, maybe up to 10 devices.
-
I Live in Milton Keynes so I am happy to manage any within say 20-25 mile radius of me. Seems right thing to do given I started all this lol.

Can come to me or I am happy to meet if not too far. That of any use to anyone?
thanks,
Rob

I'm in Hull Yorkshire is anyone else near?
-
I'm in norf london...About 188 miles... Is that near unuff ?
-
I'm in Stirling at the moment so it's probably further...
-
At 6 euros it's probaby as easy to do individual orders rather than messing about with distribution and payments, let us know when you have some ready to go, I definately want one.
-
+1

fair point.. I guess it depends on the locations of people. If I had say 3 people locally who wanted one it would be worth it.
-
I have emailed christian recently and asked for one of these gauges
He advised me to put my name down on here.
So count me in i want one 8)
-
Maybe I should be on commission here lol.
-
You wouldn't make much..nobody has bought one. ;)
-
You wouldn't make much..nobody has bought one. ;)
Only cos they're not ready yet....
-
Would these fit the 600?
-
Yes, but .. only the latest year's dash ('02 .. '03) is identical to the FZS1000. Before the water temperature sensor was missing. Guess that is your case. You could use an after market oil sensor instead, or leave it unused.
The first 600s models (before ~ '98) have an additional problem as also the buttons in the dash are missing.
-
How's the multi-buy going - I might be interested too...
Is there any progress on the cost?
Also - if anyone is worried about the fitting I could do it for them for a small cost if they send me their instrument cluster.
It looks really good and fits the bike's look.
Cheers
PeteM

There will be a slight discount. And my idea is to group shippings by myself as soon as I've all names and addresses collected. Of course those will be asked before. Unfortunately I see no way around paypal. Bank transfers across currencies is typically ridiculous costly.
No update about the gauges itself. I have to wait myself for parts being delivered. You will be the first to know on any news.
-
Thanks for the update....
Andy
-
yes thanks for the update Christian..
Would it be of any use of people PM you directly with Paypal address and home address to get an idea of numbers?
I am also happy to have a few delivered to me and meet up with near by people (Milton Keynes) to help reduce costs. But if you could handle the payment yourself so I do not have to worry about other peoples money.
thanks,
Rob
-
Please add me to the list for wanting one
Thanks
-
+1 if it can be grafted to the '99
-
I'd also like to know when these are ready, seeing as how it would fit my 02 600!
Also i'm in Ireland so could do € bank transfer to save some money on paypal fee's probably.
-
Production of the gauges is on schedule. I expect to have the first devices ready by latest end of next week :) Seems to be the right time to start collecting names.
!! All those who are interest to get a multi gauge please send the following informations to me by email (not PM):
- Name and postal address
- Email address for communication
- Type of bike
- Short reference to this thread
I will keep this open for at least a week and then try to group shippings. Any pre-arrangements you made behind the scenes are welcome. Final costs will be given individually.
Shipping will start once you made your payment, typically the next day. The devices will be send as registered letter, unless otherwise agreed. I have to mention that my responsibility ends with delivering the device to the postal office.
You are free to cancel your order any time without bad feelings. My aim is not to leave anybody uncomfortable.
FSZ600 owners:
The gauge fits into all models, but partly with restrictions.
All bikes after the face lift (~2002) have no problems. The dashboard is functionally identical to the FZS1000.
Before this date the water temperature sensor is missing. It is possible to add an aftermarket oil temperature sensor with low effort.
Early models before 1998 also miss the second button. Not impossible but more work. The installation guide also covers those.

Email sent, can't wait....It's a new toy thing. :lol Do we ever grow up?
Would I be right in thinking the speedo healer option can be used and a correction figure of 1 would keep original readings without any problems? (FZS1000 gen 1 2003)
-
Right. The speedohealer is always included and can be set to 1. Or you simply leave it unwired.
-

Why would we want to grow up. We have to grow old but growing up is still optional. ?
-
Just a thought, would it be possible to incorporate a trip computer into these showing actual and average MPG. ?
-
Yes, that's possible. It's only to question how small the Font is allowed to become. I will have a look into it.
-
Well done Dazza, I never thought to ask if any extra features could be added.
-
Modifying the views is no big problem, just needs a day or two to implement and test.
You can create your own design, if you like. I've attached 2 sample snapshots of the display in original resolution (102 x 64, b/w). Take a grafik editor and play around. You only have to consider a few constraints:
- Keep the BMP B/W format and resolution
- Font size can be changed in steps of 8 pixel. Smallest is 8, largest 64.
- The vertical position of text can only be moved in steps of 8, starting at 0.
For example, picture ..20 uses font8 for the two top lines, font32 for the recent value and font16 for the mean value.
Picture ..14 uses font32 for the top line (gear and speed), font16 for the odometer and font8 for "km".
The file "All_views.bmp" contains (almost) all available layouts. Copy and paste whatever you'd like to see.
Make a proposal I will try to implement it.
-
Wow, that's impressive, you sir are a foccing genius. Of course no trip computer would be complete without showing range. Is this possible also. ? :)
-
With the gps input connected could the 3rd button be used to auto set the speedohealer factor? Obviously it would have to be done at a steady speed on straight road for gps to keep up, would be a useful feature.
-
The 3rd button could theoretically be used for that. But typically the speedohealer is only adjusted a single time and never again. Don't know if this brings real benefit...
By the way, maybe worth to mention, the digital speedo redout has its own correction factor. And in addition a so called slip correction to increase accuracy at very high speeds. Once set correctly it provides almost the same accuracy as a GPS.
Adding range information to the trip/MPG would also be a doable feature. My only concern is that each change to the SW might have side effects I don't recognize while testing. Therefore I prefer "good old" software. But if you are fine to care some risk I'll give it a try.
-
is it possible have a white face with the fazer logo on it like the one below ?
-
Well, that looks like white on white :)
Unfortunately I have only black anodized ones with white FAZER on it. But almost any decal maker knows the multi gauge and is able to provide a complete set in any colour you like. They can be mounted on top.
-
As mentioned - we (I) would be able to supply pre-cut dial colour change - printed with anything you want...
Cheers
PeteM
-
Actually - thinking about it - it would be pretty cool to have the meter faces colour matching the bike colour -
Cheers
PeteM
-
That sound to be a cool option. Let me know if I can support with dimensions for the gauge's face.
-
I'll have mine colour coded my bike is black ;)
-
Is the 12v output by the gps connections upto the load of a 7805 or similar regulator for gps module? Also is it a nice clean supply or straight from the bikes electrics?
Edit: Just spotted the bit about where to get a nice 5v from the clocks themselves, top work Christian!
-
Just wanted to push this topic up again to raise your attention.
A few members have already contacted me and during the next days I will proceed to begin shipping out. Unfortunately there is no good reason to bundle shippings, destinations are spread all over. Absolutely no problem for me. And any late followers are still welcome.
So far I did not receive any detailed input for software modifications. And I was quite busy to complete the gauges, no time to look into any changes by myself. I can ship "as is", or delay and implement. Please give me a short reply on your preferences.
-
I would rather wait a short while to consider any software mods. I'll have a read through the posts again and decide what would suit me best. Suggestions from others would be welcome to help decide.
Thanks
ANDY
-
is it possible to use this as a standalone gauge? Will it fit into a gauge holder?
Thinking of replacing the front end with a single headlight and removing the instruments.
Thanks
-
Yes, with some slight modifications it would be able to replace the cluster. The idiots lights have to be added somewhere else. Only for the fan control you have to think of another solution (temp switch from older FZS600 or so).
A while back I did such a conversion for my son's small MZ125. I used 2 gauges. The first to display the odometer exclusively, the second for gear and the rest. The LED band below is for RPM (just to fill the window). The front plate was made of paper.
I did this because the dashboard was given and should stay. In your case I would recommend to go for a KOSO or alike. Makes life much more easy and neat.
-
Email / Msg sent and order placed...
Cheers Christian... ;)
+ Payment sent... ;-)
-
Just paid for mine.. Cheers Christian.
-
I would be up for one of these but would prefer to wait for the SW update showing MPG / Range.
-
First results for the modified MPG readout. What's your opinion?
Remaining fuel and MPG (resp. Liter per 100Km) is set into relation. Is that what you're looking for?
But you shouldn't expect too much from this function. Both inputs have their weaknesses.
-
Multiguage arrived and fitted, awesome!!!! Just got to wait for my gps module to turn up now.
Thats a cracking bit of kit Christian, a foccing genius indeed.
-
I'm pleased to hear :) Enjoy it.
Took about 6 days shipping, just for reference.
-
Mine also arrived today and fitted this evening. Working great and looks really nice in there.
I was considering the GPS addon but unsure as yet.
Not related to the Multigauge.. I am looking at running the wire to power the headlight relay (sick of clocks having a party when I flick to high beam). Looking around the garage I have some 200 watt/17 amp cable. Would it be safe to use that or should I go get some 30 amp?
thanks,
Rob
-
Whatever you do it helps.
With all lights up you need to deliver about 220W to the headlight. And back again! In both direction I would suggest to go for the 30A cable.
Concerning the multi-gauge, lately I became aware about a point which might not have been explained clearly enough yet: The MPG function / readout.
This function does not work without a signal from the fuel pump. And as such signal is not present in the cluster you first have to route a wire from the fuel pump towards the multi-gauge.
All details are explained in the next document:
http://cvieth.bplaced.net/MultiGauge_Extensions_V8_1.pdf (http://cvieth.bplaced.net/MultiGauge_Extensions_V8_1.pdf)
Similar for the GPS function, it needs an extra module.
-
Sorry to be a dimwit. How does the gear indicator work ? or is it just a neutral indicator ?
i don't like the ones that work off speedo / rpm personally. seems like guesswork.
Cheers, DBo.
-
The gear indicator is indeed speed/rpm and seems to work very well, clutch in it doesn't know but as soon as it's out it's spot on.
My gps module(VK16HX @ £7 inc postage) arrived today, fitted in the clock housing well and setup dead easily, won't be able to play anymore for 2 weeks as going on holiday. :D
-
Have you got any pics fitted? What does the gps function give you, does it just give your latitude and longitude? Mine arrived today so I'm hoping to fit it next week.
Andy
-
It works based on speedo/rpm. And yes, it's guesswork. But it works very fine as long as you do not pull the clutch.
The speedo/rpm ratio is specific for each gear. The gauge compares this ratio to a stored table of scenarios and estimates the current gear. Once a gear is recognized and looks stable it locks to this gear. A lot of computing is done in the background to get a stable reading and filter false recognitions. I've optimized the algorithms over several years and always with focus on the Fazer. I guess it's fair to say that you won't find a gear indicator that works more perfect on this bike.
By nature this principle it not able to give proper readings at standstill or slipping clutch. But as long as the clutch is engaged it works perfect.
Besides, it offers much more functions than a simple gear indicator ..
-
Price like that has me tempted with the GPS addon. Might as well get full use from the device
was it this one Haddock? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/V-KEL-VK16HX-G-Mouse-GPS-Module-GPS-Navigation-Board-w-TTL-Level-Ceramic-Antenna-/281336952824?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4180fd37f8 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/V-KEL-VK16HX-G-Mouse-GPS-Module-GPS-Navigation-Board-w-TTL-Level-Ceramic-Antenna-/281336952824?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4180fd37f8)
On another note, I was thinking about changing bulbs in the clocks to blue LED's. Can I also change the illumination on the multigauge to match?
thanks,
-
The GPS function was primarily intended to provide altitude readings. But there are screens available showing almost all data coming from a GPS module.
The given module looks suitable. Though I'm unsure about the TTL voltage level. Guess the VCC_N line defines this. If this is tied to 3V it should work. Didn't find a datasheet so far.
The backlight of the LCD is fixed. You can change it if you have the proper tools but it would have been much more easy before assembly.. Anyway, I could guide you how to do it.
-
That is the gps I have fuzzbomb, powered from the cl8 point shown in the documents provided and seems good, I've only powered it briefly but seems good.
-
It works based on speedo/rpm. And yes, it's guesswork. etc...I guess it's fair to say that you won't find a gear indicator that works more perfect on this bike.
Thanks very much for the explanation. Sounds the biz. When pennies allow I shall be investing.
Dear Santa, ...
-
I have one of these for the FZS 600 from Christian have decided not to fit its brand new only just received from, anyone want it can have for £115 inc postage
Thanks

Defo would be more than interested in one of them if you can get one to fit a pre 02 600. 70s kid (Soon to be known as "Fazerpimp") :)
-
Hi guys,
I hope everyone is getting on well with their multigauge's.. :)
I was but seem to have hit a snag today... well Kinda my own fault. I ran out of fuel lol.
When leant over on the side stand shows as 0 Liters. when You pull it up straight showed 3 liters.I thought I would be ok so went on my short run to work. half way there (about 3 miles) it conked out.. opened fuel cap, dry as a bone.
Any way to calibrate it or should I take as my own fault and pay more attention to the fuel light? lol
-
I would suggest to pay more attention to the fuel light :)
Accuracy is limited by the given circumstances. The fuel sensor does not give a distinct signal for every fuel level. Instead it is a combination of 13 switches with unequal spread. The lowest switch point is at 4 liters. Hence at steady conditions it can be anywhere between 0 .. 4 liter. You only get a more precise "estimation" by averaging if the fuel flows around.
You could try to fine adjust the fuel readout with 2 parameters in the menu. There might be slight differences from loom to loom and fuel sensor.
Try to adjust "fuel sensor offset ohm" in the extended menu. It is set to -6 by default (for to compensate several effects). Lowering the value shifts the internal correction curve to show lower values.
A better way would be to eliminate the root cause and improve the grounding of "the front", and by this for the fuel sensor. Add an extra ground cable at the headlight bulb connector and route it to the next possible point of the frame. In addition you could do the same for the ground cable going to the dashboard connector (black cable). Tab it and route to the frame. The old ground lines remain in parallel.
-
Hi schlumpf,
ok I might take a look at these settings and have a play. Also while I think about it I have never seen the gauge read more than 20 liters when the tank is full. I thought the FZS1000 tank was 21? (according to online stats)
could reducing this value also show my full capacity as 21 liters?
thanks,
Fuzz
-
On paper and by geometrie it might be 21 liter but you will never managed to put more than 20 liter in. There is an residual air buffer preventing to use the last liter. That's why I restricted the readout to 20 liter. But feel free to alter the upper limit in the menu (like it's done for the 600s).
-
The backlight of the LCD is fixed. You can change it if you have the proper tools but it would have been much more easy before assembly.. Anyway, I could guide you how to do it.
I was considering the same idea of changing the colour illumination so a guide would be great :)
-
I'll create a guide and let you know. Give me some days.
-
Went much quicker than expected :)

Apologies if my "german english" partly sounds strange. I'm open and thankful for any hints.
-
be careful to now over-torque
'Now over-torque' is a lot different from 'Not over-torque' Cristian :lol
It's fairly obvious what you mean but every idiot proofing brings along a better grade of idiot ready to blame someone else for their own stupidity.
-
:lol
Thanks for that, corrected version is uploaded.
-
hi fazer390 could you tell me where you got the chrome surrounds for your clocks
-
Hi Fazerblue, regarding the (aluminium) 'Clock Rings' / surrounds; unfortunatly these were comissioned a few years ago by Devilsyam. Only around a dozen or so sets were made. I beleive the chap that actually made them has since died!
The only way to get some now is to commission someone else / engineering company... :-/
-
I'll take one as well.

I would just like to say that I think the Multigauge is an amazing piece of kit. (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/28/f8cee53ac9a43c30642a8f4cce984c06.jpg)
Loads of handy applications
-
Been reading up and im gonna treat myself to one of these.
-
Christian put one down for me when there are in stock
-
Out of production at the mo, maybe another batch in a couple of months
-
Hi Christian,
Are there dates planned for any more of these to be made yet ?
-
If you look on the American fazer site one of the members is make a batch, and orders are being taken,
Don.
-
I might be up for 1,,i had put interest on grommets page in the fazer site in the states has i thought Cristian wasn't making anymore,,,,
-
Yes, it's back in production, but it will take me some more weeks to complete. Guess begin of August would be the right time.
Grommet is also working on a batch. Seems to have some trouble/delay with his production shop..
Feel free to order from him if he's faster. Software and function is the same. Maybe shipping is more easy from my place.
Electronics and display is a complete redesign. That's the main reason for the long silence. Check out the according FZ1OA thread (backwards) if you like to see some pictures of the internals and background. Though my board design is totally different we kept it very similar in function and final look.
-
Will we see some images of your new design and function, perhaps with a prototype etc beforehand Christian? I am interested in one of these type of gauges myself - but don't mind waiting and I'm not on the U.S. Forum.
-
Sure. Version 9 is the one we talk about:
http://cvieth.bplaced.net/ganganzeige_bilder.html (http://cvieth.bplaced.net/ganganzeige_bilder.html)
Display size has increased slightly.
Imprint on the faceplate has been dropped, would be too small.
Backlight is LED-white as standard (before amber/yellow).
All functions as before. Speedohealer function always in. A few minor SW improvements, mostly not visible.
Prepared to connect a GPS modul.
Fuel economy display if wired to the fuel pump.
-
Christian put me down for 1 also i have white dials can you do a white face plate regards gaz
-
For anyone who's interested I have what I believe is a vesion 7 and it does what it says on the tin so to speak.
-
White is possible. Would have to take a rattle can as there is no way to get white anodized plates. But it will look very nice.
I will let you all know as soon as I'm sure to confirm a delivery. All further details to follow then.
Many thanks. It's always very helpfull for my little "cottage factory" to know upfront how many people are interested :)
-
Count me in for one if the price is right :-)
-
Add me to the list Christian please
Thanks
-
I'd be quite interested too....how easy/difficult are they to install. I have looked at the instructions which is beyond my capabilities (hopeless with electrics)
-
Can you do these for a gen 2?
If so I could be interested.
-
I'd be quite interested too....how easy/difficult are they to install. I have looked at the instructions which is beyond my capabilities (hopeless with electrics)
I find myself in the same boat, electrics in general are beyond my limited capabilities. I'm very keen on purchasing one of these but only if I can find someone to do the wiring...
-
I had mine done at the local computer shop, as long as they can solder circuit boards shouldn't be a problem
-
I found fitting fairly straightforward but as mentioned you need to be able to solder and some locations for connections are SMALL..
-
New devices are ready.
Those interested please drop me a message via email (not PM) for ordering and details. Need your postal address, bank or paypal possible.
Though the MG also works on FZS600 I would like to start with FZS1000.
-
Email sent via this forum, never used the system before so hopefully you got it :-)
-
just stumbled across this, looks good, what sort of price?
-
Sorry, some delays. My email account has suddenly been blocked. Have to clarify that first.
-
Email sent:-)
-
Same as many others, very interested in one of these but would like to know the price and what is required regarding installation ? :)
-
My email is working again, use the button in the box left hand side. Details via email only please.
For installation there is a very good and independent source:
http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/multigaugeinstallation.html (http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/multigaugeinstallation.html)
Though a bit outdated the steps are still valid.
My own (poorly translated) documentation is here:

Sorry for the late reply gauge arrived last week whilei was away on holiday
I fitted today and its fantastic only took bout a 90mins the instructions in the 2 pdf are very straightforward and easy to understand
Soldering was straightforward too just cut and preped the wires then soldered the shortest to the longest
Cant wait to try out on the open road so many options and different screens to use

drop schlumpf (Christian) a pm on here or email him at cvieth@arcor.de
Also have a look at his very informative website about it. http://cvieth.bplaced.net/ganganzeige_summary.html
I have had one on my bike for just over a year now. It is a vast improvement over the stock fuel gage and so much more useful.

Good afternoon. I'm from Russia, from the city of Irkutsk, I learned that you are doing a Multi-Gauge for motorcycles. I want to buy it on the Yamaha FZS1000 in 2002. Can you send to Russia? How much does a Multi-Gauge cost? Thank you.
